Holiday Greetings

P112910SA-0315

Official White House Photo by Samantha Appleton

The first lady held a mentoring event at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building yesterday, where children gathered to make holiday cards for active duty service members. It's difficult to make out much of an ensemble here, but it appears Mrs. O is expressing a more playful side of her style with a brightly hued cardigan and plaid, ruffled top chosen to suit her young audience.

Game Night

The first family attended a basketball game at Howard University tonight, where Howard faced Oregon State, coached by the first lady's brother, Craig Robinson. In honor of the Oregon State Beavers, the Os sported an orange and black palette, Mrs. O included. The first lady dressed in black from head to toe, adding interest through texture and silhouette, with a signature pop of color at the waist.

O Christmas Tree

First Lady Mrs. O and her daughters Sasha and Malia received the 2010 White House Christmas Tree yesterday. The 18 1/2 foot Douglas fir tree hails from a tree farm in Lehighton, PA.

For the appearance, Mrs. O wore the Merino sequin crochet cardigan from J.Crew, here (and on sale!), paired with a ruffled white blouse and camel trousers. Kara Ross NY earrings completed the look. Mrs. O wasn't the only one delivering a dose of style yesterday. It's become increasingly clear that an interest in fashion is a mother-daughter affair at the White House!

Sitting Pretty

Official White House Photos by Pete Souza

President Obama and First Lady Mrs. O will sit down with Barbara Walters for an exclusive interview tonight, scheduled to air on ABC at 10PM EST. A first glimpse of the interview reveals Mrs. O is wearing a gorgeous chocolate, pleated chiffon dress with black velvet trim and an Alexis Bittar brooch at the collar. Of the first lady's choice, the president said, "That's a nice looking dress." Love! For those who missed the interview, you can find it here.

Update: Mrs. O wears a Sophie Theallet Fall 2010 dress, seen on the runway here.

Giving Thanks

Photo by Leslie E. Kossoff-Pool/Getty Images

First Lady Mrs. O and her daughter Malia volunteered at Martha's Table in Washington, D.C. today, delivering turkeys and Thanksgiving accoutrements to needy families. Per the Martha's Table website:

Martha's Table's mission is to help at-risk children, youth, families and individuals in our community improve their lives by providing educational programs, food, clothing and enrichment opportunities.

For the appearance, Mrs. O layered ivory knit tops with a purple embellished scarf. Perhaps another gem from Prova? Indeed! Mrs. O wears a lilac “burn-out” silk Prova scarf with gunmetal beaded fringe and white pom pom fringe.

P.S. Happy Thanksgiving dear readers! I hope everyone is sharing this holiday with family, friends and loved ones. I am grateful for all of you, and all that you bring to this blog in celebration of our remarkable first lady. xoxo Mrs. T
