Holiday Greetings

Official White House Photo by Samantha Appleton
The first lady held a mentoring event at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building yesterday, where children gathered to make holiday cards for active duty service members. It's difficult to make out much of an ensemble here, but it appears Mrs. O is expressing a more playful side of her style with a brightly hued cardigan and plaid, ruffled top chosen to suit her young audience.

CUTE I LOVE THE OURFIT MRS OBAMA IS WEARRING HER HAIR IS OUT AGIAN YAY!!!!!
Gold, yellow and orange are my favorite colors on the First Lady. She looks great in almost all colors, but she really is stunning in these.
Since it is difficult to comment fully on the outfit, I would like to say what a good thing to be doing for our service people. She is busy with her commitment to our troops. Good job!
Love, love, love! She looks great and what great work she does!
Am a fan of the cardigan's color.
Also, Mrs. O always seems so relaxed in the company of children.
You are fantastic! No two ways about that.
she looks like a teacher here
A very warm and engaging outfit. Ten out of ten, again!
Lovely ! Simply lovely !
Hi this is my first time posting but I am a regular reader/viewer. I don't know if you have already posted this picture of the First Lady in October but she looks lovely in the photo so I thought I'd put the link here. Thank you Mrs. T for all the hard work you put into this blog.

I just love that the First Lady has made children and families a priority and has encouraged our kids to visit the White House. I believe this teaches them to dream big and reach high, but to remain humble.
This is an attractive and colorful outfit that Mrs. Obama is wearing. Someone said that she looks like a school teacher - she does, in my opinion.
I am so grateful that she has opened the White House to everyone; but, particularly children. I have toured the White House and know that you are told not to touch this, don't touch that. As an adult, this I can understand. Therefore, I am impressed that Mrs. Obama provides children with opportunities to "touch" and "feel" during many of their visits.
In this picture, it looks like Mrs. Obama is having as much fun as the children, and she looks great.
You know there is nothing wrong with looking like a teacher. Teachers mold our future leaders, hence I take that as a positive...Mrs. O is stunning as usual, She epitomizes elegance.
Ty, i didn't mean anything by that remark, in fact i liked the fact she looked like a Teacher. I think they both remind me of teachers.
As stated by others, I can't see the entire outfit, but I've seen enough photos on this wonderful site to recognize pretty and child-friendly clothes. Yes, Mrs. O does look like a teacher. As a retired teacher, that's the way I dressed on non-lab days. (Lab days were a lab coat over a funny science tee and cargo pants, with bright yellow clogs.) When you work with teenagers, they always have some comment about your clothes, so you have to wear a pulled together outfit that can stand up to a little dust and a lot of moving around. I agree with ari2 that both Obamas remind me of teachers in the way they think and engage with others.
I love this site for the selection of photos and information about the clothes and accessories!
Our Michelle always seems to light up around children. I remember an interview that Mrs. Robinson gave and she said that when Michelle and Craig were young, she and her husband made a decision to refer to them as little people. She said that it kept them aware of the fact that even though they were children, they still had ideas and feelings like grown people and should be treated with respect. You can see that FLOTUS regards little ones the same way. They gravitate to her just as much as she does to them. Regardless of what political party these young ones affiliate themselves with when they become adults, you can bet they will remember this moment fondly.
