Sparkle and Sequin

The President and First Lady attended the 2010 Kennedy Center Honors this evening, honoring singer and songwriter Merle Haggard, composer and lyricist Jerry Herman; dancer, choreographer and director Bill T. Jones, songwriter and musician Paul McCartney, and producer, television host and actress Oprah Winfrey. Hooray!

Mrs. O looked absolutely stunning in a scarlet floral sequined gown, designer TBD. Any guesses?

Update: The first lady was dressed in Naeem Khan last evening, wearing a scarlet colored sleeveless gown with matte crushed sequins in abstract wind blown roses on scarlet tulle. On the accessories front, Mrs. O chose earrings by Bochic, made of rough brown diamonds and 14K oxidized white gold.

The President and First Lady hosted a Hanukkah celebration in the East Room of the White House tonight. For the occasion, Mrs. O wore a blue sequin cardigan by L'Wren Scott, seen here, embellished with a vintage brooch at the collar. Gorgeous!

Mrs. O attended a ceremony to celebrate the new Fisher House, which serves military families, on the campus of Naval Support Activity in Bethesda, Maryland today. For the dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony, the first lady wore a grey and gold argyle skirt by Moschino paired with a grey turtleneck and black boots. The ensemble was topped by a Donna Karan coat, which the first lady debuted in New York this October.

Holiday Preview

There are many reasons to enjoy the holiday season, and in this circle, the chance to admire the first lady's seasonal wardrobe is certainly one! Mrs. O is off to a fabulous start, wearing a navy and gold ensemble to host a preview of the White House holiday decorations for military families earlier today. The more formal attire didn't stop the first lady from getting in on the fun, as Mrs. O helped to decorate cookies and make holiday cards with military children.

Update: The first lady's navy and floral print lurex jacquard ensemble are pre-Fall 2010 Moschino! Though difficult to see in the photo's above, the pieces include a top, skirt and jacket.

Our friends at Carole Tanenbaum Vintage Collection have a fabulous new selection of vintage jewelry for this holiday season, available through Carole Tanenbaum SeleCT, HERE. Most of these treats are priced reasonably under $50, perfect for gift giving or a little self indulgence! A note from Carole Tanenbaum:

"Jewels will make anyone feel special for their holiday season. Although diamonds are a girl's best friend, these gems take the cake. They are from the 1950s and couldn't be more glam."

Enjoy!
