O Christmas Tree

Images by Ron Lamkey / Getty Images

First Lady Mrs. O and her daughters Sasha and Malia received the 2010 White House Christmas Tree yesterday. The 18 1/2 foot Douglas fir tree hails from a tree farm in Lehighton, PA.

For the appearance, Mrs. O wore the Merino sequin crochet cardigan from J.Crew, here (and on sale!), paired with a ruffled white blouse and camel trousers. Kara Ross NY earrings completed the look. Mrs. O wasn't the only one delivering a dose of style yesterday. It's become increasingly clear that an interest in fashion is a mother-daughter affair at the White House!

So young yet they understand the fundamentals of accessorizing. I want Sasha's plaid tights!

the first family of style. Look at Mrs. O do you actually think she waste her time on the brainless sarah palin.

What a fashionable First Family this is! Where did our little Sasha go? She's really shooting up there, yet still cute as all get out. This pic shows everyone's style sense and and their individuality shines through. I really like how these outfits play off each other and not matchy matchy. Our Michelle has every right to be a proud mom. She and our President sure are raising beautiful young ladies. They are just as beautiful inside as outside. Very nice, indeed!

Sasha and Malia are growing real fast, they both look like young ladies now and are as fashionable as their Mom. I love it!

It's so beautiful to see a strong black woman spending quality time with her daughters and live at the White House...amen to that

Any info on the daughter's outfits? I have a daughter about the same age and would love to know where they get their stylish outfits.

Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 1:55 PM | Unregistered CommenterKatie

Malia is fabulous. She has a most infectious smile. She seems to enjoy her relationship with her mother. How wonderful!

Sasha is adorable. I love the independent quality that she depicts in whatever she does.

Mom and dad seem to be doing a great job in keeping these young ladies balanced. I'm so very glad that Mrs. Robinson decided to come with them to Washington. She is a part of the equation that helps to keep Malia and Sasha grounded.

Yes, all three look lovely. I'm so glad that they express themselves as individuals and not dressing as a "matched-set."

Love each outfit!

Absolutely charming outfits and three lovely ladies...how blessed we are to have this family as our First Family of the United States of America. God bless America!

I think the ruffled blouse is by Givenchy.

@busbus,

I totally agree with your sentiments. It is so wonderful to see a mother interact so naturally with her daughters. It is quite obvious (or should be obvious to all) that the relationship the First Lady has with Malia and Sasha just didn't begin once they got to the White House, but that it began at birth when she began to nurture and train those girls and to lead by example. So it should come as no surprise to all of us that these girls, now that we're seeing them more in public, are showing that same sense of grace, level-headedness, discipline, respect, empathy and poise that their parents show every day. God bless the Obamas (and Mrs. Robinson too!) for a job well-done!

They represent us well. With no effort it seems, Mrs. O is rather chic. She gives me so many ideas.

Wow! The First Lady and her daughters all look great! I loved hearing Mrs. O as she spoke with Sasha and Malia.

As usual, superb. However, Sasha's outfit gets a rare thumbs down from me. That striped shirt and plaid tights look really, really, really off. The shorts don't help either.

Sunday, November 28, 2010 at 5:59 PM | Unregistered CommenterSildi

It's funny how we all have such different tastes. Sildi doesn't care for Sasha's outfit and it's my favorite. I think Sasha looks adorable in it. And this outfit is perfect for her age. (No, I wouldn't look cute in it!) When I go back to look at these pictures it's Sasha that pops out at me! She catches at my heart strings. Love the flared back on her blazer.

Love the horse drawn carridge that delivers the tree.

The First Lady looks fresh and offers a subtle reminder of how important family time is for everyone.

I hope everyone had a nice THANKSGIVING.

Sasha's outfit is fun - she is young so she can pull off just about anything.
There are many girls her age who dress with tummys showing and short skirts with no leggings.
I think she looks cute.

OMG! The Obama ladies rocked it. Mrs. Obma's outfit is so stunning. Wowee look at Malia...she is a girl fast becoming a young woman. She is gorgeuos and is dressed beautifully. Sasha is dressed cutely and boy is this young girl going to be stunning. I had a couple of difficult days lately and these pics lifted my spirits. I just can't say any more. I am so proud of the Obamas.

It is a breathe of fresh air to watch this family. The girls are maturing very nicely and It is so lovely to see Pres. and Mrs. Obama with their children. In the interview with Barbara Walters, I found it refreshing to hear Pres. Obama say that he prays every night and reads the bible everyday. He also said they eat dinner together at 6.30p.m. and say grace before meals. God bless this family and give Pres. Obama the strength to carry out the things he would like to do for America.

I think one needs to be careful when commenting negatively about the children's outfits. It may result in our being denied the chance to ever view them on this website again. I think its okay to say they look cute, etc., but not much more than that.

Oh my goodness Malia has suddenly turned into a very beautiful and stylish young woman! They all look very lovely - I really like the warmth of that cardigan on Mrs O. Especially the sequins..... I'm a sucker for a sequin...

I also love the horse-drawn carriage...such a fabulous bow to tradition. Mrs. O. looks great, too. The bronze shoes look wonderful with her brown pants.

I like watching Mrs. O interact with her daughters in the video. When I was Malia and Sasha's age, I would have felt extremely awkward to be photographed and recorded like they were, and I think Mrs. O did a great job ushering her daughters through the requisite public function. And I love Malia's outfit!

Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at 9:00 AM | Unregistered Commentermrsn

Wow! Malia could be a model. She has the height, the face, the slenderness. The Obamas definitely have a beauty on their hands and I think she is only about 12! Yikes! Michelle looks so connected to her girls - their style is evidently inherited from her.

Great outfits. Love the casual, classic look.

Let's keep moving! Looks like the garden veges are agreeing with the girls.

Fashion icons: the Obama girls.

Sunday, December 12, 2010 at 2:22 AM | Unregistered CommenterChristy

Can't confirm, but I believe Mrs. O's pants are from Talbots. I saw very similiar looking pants in a Talbots Outlet store that had more sporty casual style clothing.
