On to Botswana

The First Lady and crew arrived in Gaborone, Botswana today, where they were greeted by traditional dancers. For this stop in her trip through Africa, Mrs. O embraced a bold palette, pairing a Jean Paul Gaultier pant suit with a Tory Burch Kerala reverse wrap belt, available here, at the waist.
After arriving, the First Lady changed into more casual attire to paint a mural with youths at the Botswana-Baylor Adolescent Center. Mrs. O wore a Rachel Roy Sable Leather Ribbed Knit Jacket, seen at least once before, here. Update (6/28): It also appears that the First Lady was wearing Alexander Wang Doodle Print Jeans, available here. How apropos for mural painting!
Finally, Mrs. O was back in ASOS Africa, wearing a beaded collar jacket (on sale here) paired with a Duro Olowu Fall 2010 scarf as she walked with Ian Kirby of Mokolodi Game Reserve prior to a private dinner in Gaborone, Botswana. Thanks to Kemi of Shop Liquorice for the spot.

Again...her outfit choices for this trip a wonderful! The saturated color of this suit with the woven ethnic-like belt just seems to "fit" with the vibrant welcome of the dancer!
That red is STUNNING! And I loooove the belt! This must be so exciting and humbling for her.
michelle obama is stylish and substance im so glad michelle is inspire the youth and women our first lady is making us proud i loved her speech and her outfits

Here is the best slide show I've seen of Mrs. O's trip to Africa. She is so beautiful, such a strong presence, and I am so proud of her!

Like the red outfit with the Tory Burch scarf, and I love her hair in this photo
Her hair rocks!
Love the red pantsuit and the beaded collar jacket, but very much dislike the black leggings or whatever they are. Way too tight and super casual. Wondering what the temp is there, because the girls are very bundled up.
Meant to add that Mrs. O.'s hair looks absolutely fabulous in the pic with the red pantsuit!
The shoes, the shoes, what about the cutest color assortment of flat shoes? They look so comfy and fabulously stylish at the same time!! Wasn't there one pic where she and the girls all had on the same style in different colors? Gorgeous and practical. LOVE her style on this monumental trip.
And I STILL can't get over Mrs. O doing push-ups with Archbishop Desmond Tutu. And of course, the wonderful visit with Pres. Nelson Mandela. Wow! Sasha, Malia, (and Leslie and Avery) will have great "what I did last summer" stories this September, when they get back to school.
The orange pantsuit is a great color and look, but the high-waist scarf gives the suit a strange proportion. Love to see her in long vertical lines rather than broken up with odd horizontal accessories.
Tsk! Tsk Christian,
Geography 1A, when it summer in the northern hemisphere, it is winter in the southern hemisphere.
Our First Lady Michelle Obama has looked Beautiful the entire trip.
Her makeup looks AMAZING! Fresh and beautiful.
Styling and Hair also right on point!!
Go FLOTUS!!!
Wow, I spent several weeks at Mokolodi NR during my study abroad semester!
p.s. I like the site's new look.
I couldn't tell from this picture, but if you look at this one: http://www.flickr.com/photos/usembassybotswana/5869236553/in/photostream/ you'll see Mrs. O is wearing a skirt or dress over the leggings.
Hot Mama. I'm so loving this lady's fearless style.
Yep Iva, I noticed that too. And you can see that there are studs on her leggings. She is definitely a HOT MAMA and you can say that 2 times!! LOL:-)
I like this last outfit a lot. Lovely colours and cut, perfect for this oocasion.
Anyone else thinking what I'm thinking? I'm feeling that Mrs. O may finally have been upstaged by this marvelous dancer. I'm telling you, I'm not seeing any red pantsuit.
Great picture of this outfit here:

Shows the detail of the tights.
Oh, I really, really love her hair ! I'm starting to think that this might be the "best look" (hair-wise) that I've seen on her ... I think I'd love to see it as her "regular do" .... also, she looks just plain happy in all these photos ... maybe Mrs. O is about to find her place on the world stage, especially working with issues in Africa ... wouldn't she look fabulous in traditional African clothing???
Bllw...duh, I do know that. The only temp I was able to check that day was for Johannesburg, which was 64. Hardly a cold front. It was just an idle question....no need to be rude.
I hate for this trip to end because we've seen such a variety of chic, casual outfits that I can hardly chose a favorite. The ASOS jacket worn over leggings and a dress/skirt is a homerun. I wish I could find a close-up of the scarf, from what I can see it looks nice. I like how our Michelle uses Tory Burch's wrap belt as an obi, it gives her suit a different feel.
All in all, the entire family seems like they had a wonderful time. I'm thankful that they were safe and hopefully homeward bound. It sure will be nice when they are back at home on terra firma. I'm sure our President misses his ladies.
I can't even comment on the dancer.........well I can, but I won't! Have mercy!
I love the ASOS jacket. And the leggings are a great idea. They can be dressed up or down and really are so "IN". I see lots of women of all ages wear a black pair over a bright colored pair to get a really amazing iridescent effect. You Go, Mrs. O!!
Loving your coverage of this Mrs T! I ordered the ASOS Africa jacket last night, so excited.
Anyone have any idea who the capri's are by that she wore for the mural painting? Love them!
I don't like too much the orange pant , but the twice other look are very nice !! Simple and classic !!

Shel looks wonderful !
Hi Mincey, her capris appear to actually the doodle print jean by Alexander Wang... you can see it on his website's shop section.
Thanks Tien!
Wow they are definetly another item that look a million times better on Mrs. O than on the model!
Mrs. O seems to be having such a great time. She seems so relaxed and vibrant! The pantsuit is truly an amazing color on her. Whether it is red or orange, it is powerful. And she looks comfortable in everything that she has worn throughout the trip and I am so glad that she and the family are sharing this together.
With a heart like our First Lady, what a real treat to bring your niece and nephew along with the matriach of the family. She warms my heart not just what she wears or says, but her sharing, caring and love extends far beyond boundaries that leaves me so appreciative of her.
President Obama has a lot of reasons to be proud of her. They are truly a blessed family.
Anyone know about her red flat shoes?
