Safari Chic

Photos by Charles Dharapak / AP Images
The First Lady, joined by her daughters Sasha and Malia, mother Marian Robinson, niece Leslie Robinson and nephew Avery Robinson, is enjoying a safari in Madikwe Game Reserve in South Africa today. What does Mrs. O wear on a safari? A fringed Prova scarf, of course!
P.S. Check out great Flickr photos from the US Embassy in Gaborone, Botswana, here.

Really excited to have you link back to our blog :-) Thank you so, so much! Really enjoying your coverage!
P.S. Turns out the scarf she wore with the Asos Africa jacket is yet another Duro piece [Fall 2010]. If it ain't broke? :-)
Mrs T. Just wanted to say that I have loved the adventures this week. Mrs O has truely done a wonderful job as ambassador for the US. I know she hates time away from the girls but I truely hopes she does more of these visits. I would love to see this more in other countries. I also wanted to say good job with the font change. I thought I was losing my mind at first but it was quite subtle.
Is that the Indonesia scarf! I love that! And the sweater too!
Some down time after another successful trip. I still think the sppech in Soweto was truly amazing. It almost reduced me to tears.
Mrs. T, thanks for the Flickr link, those pics were great. For whatever reason, I have the hardest time getting onto and navigating Flickr.
I always liked this scarf by Prova that our Michelle is wearing, but after I saw a close up of the Duro scarf I think that's my new favorite. It's surprising how a scarf can add such drama and/or different feel to an outfit.
Thanks for the stellar coverage of Mrs. O's latest trip, Mrs. T. The font change is good, too. (Anagrom, I had much the same reaction...)
I was wondering if you guys had seen the outfit she was wearing when she left Botswana yesterday? It looks fabulous, but this pic is only of the upper portion. http://theobamadiary.com/2011/06/26/homeward-bound-6/
Anagrom -- the girls are with Mrs. Obama on this trip, along with her mother and a niece and nephew.
@Jestina(London, England) I was in tears throughout the entire speech. The singing and the introduction was from the hearts. You could feel the energy from the choir and Mrs. O. felt it also. The contrast of the Freedom Fighters in America as well as Soweto was so on point. I pray that she will travel back there again to inspire the young girls. They lovingly opened their hearts to her and her family. I did not even notice her outfit until the speech was over. Wow! what a Lady, our First Lady, our Qeen. Thank you, Michelle for a heartfelt speech.
