Mrs. O Wears a L'Wren Scott Jumpsuit

Photo by Pablo Martinez Monsivais / AP Images
First Lady in a jumpsuit? This must be new sartorial ground. Following yesterday's student workshop, Mrs. O attended the White House Music Series event saluting Motown. For the concert, the First Lady wore a black satin and silk taffeta jumpsuit by L'Wren Scott. For inquiring minds, the jumpsuit is look 20 from the designer's Spring 2010 collection, seen here. Cathy Waterman jewelry completed the look.

Gorgeous!!
I LOVE LOVE this jumpsuit so cute
I am loving the entire look from what I can see. I don't usually like jumpsuits but this one looks great.
Wow...looking good Mrs. O. gorgeous
I've never understood jumpsuits -- how the heck are you supposed to go to the bathroom? -- but Mrs. O wears this well. A very 1970s Motown look!
SIMPLY STUNNING!
Make-up - Check! Hair - Check! Jewelry - Check- in a word WOW! Mrs. T if you find any full length photos of her please post!
WoW! updated 80's for the millenium.
She is so beautifully stated! I am so very proud of my First Lady!
Stunning! I love the way it's cut!
It is NOT easy to be elegant and hip at the same time, but the First Lady manages to do it.
Bravo, Mrs. O!
I am a big fan of this outfit. It not only fits the occasion but it looks marvelous on her! Also, what do you think of her makeup? I love it!!!! The amount is just perfect!!!
This is absolutely Class and chic.
This is absolutely Class and chic.
Swoon! ...Glamour and style. Elegant swagger!
P.S. @MI Mom: About going to the bathroom in a jumpsuit? The same way men have done it with jumpsuits (and overalls) for years: Unbutton or unzip and gradually fold excess material into lap--with care, I imagine, if it's something fancy like FLOTUS is wearing.
MI Mom, there is no way to gracefully get around having to partially disrobe to go to the bathroom when wearing a jumpsuit. I had one and I loved the look, but the entire top had to come off and down to one's knees. Sorry to be so graphic, but that's the way they are.
Satin and taffeta don't stretch, so this fabric must have a little spandex. We can only see the top, but it is a good look.
Love just love! Pretty chic and hip.
gorgeous! I love L'Wren Scott
Absolutely fabuluos
http://mrs-o.org/newdata/tag/fallon is the same dress mrs o wore when president Bush was being given the freedom award. as seen the video ''goodbye Gibbs' on this page.
I can't believe the First Lady wore a jumpsuit. That is freakin' amazing!!!!! I love the whole look! Mrs. Obama pulls off these sleek modern looks so well.
I love her hair pulled back and her makeup is bold and soft at the same time, she looks spectacular. Wish I could see a full shot.
The Elegant Mrs. O can make a $40 Dollar Dress look like a $500 Stunning Gown.
Does anybody know what date this will be broadcast on PBS? Thanks.
@Marcus Perry and BeeGee, I guess that's how I imagined it, but you'd have to be pretty motivated to make it worth the trouble. You must be in great shape, BeeGee, because this is not a look that flatters most bodies...definitely not mine!
@ Kristin,

Looks like yellow one shoulder dress. Wish we could have pictures before she sat down.

I'm not a fan of the earrings she is wearing, they are too busy.
I loooove what FLOTUS has on tonight. And the earrings are "busy" because the dress is one solid color (lemongrass). Gorgeous.
Please, please, please, stop teasing me, and show the full length view! This look is too fabulous for words... love it, love it, love it!
Are we really discussing how Mrs O uses the bathroom whilst wearing a jumpsuit ? Has it really come to this ??
She's the First Lady she doesn't go to the bathroom ( ha ha !!!!). Honestly, I care not one jot how she gets in and out of her clothes. The simple fact is that she looks absolutely hot. Sensational. A forty plus woman wearing a jumpsuit and wearing it well. Let's celebrate that and leave the toilet talk today.
The First Lady does it all so extremely well...the look is both sleek and classic. How many First Ladies can you name who has worn a pantsuit? And looked killer in it!! This woman is the absolute BOMB! She can wear anything, and make it look smashing, and not just anyone, or any woman, can do that.
I just saw the program and my face literally hurts from smiling! It was just beautiful. Tonight was the soundtrack of my life and it made us in Detroit sooooo very proud. Every performer was spectacular and seemed to thoroughly enjoy the night. So it's safe to say that most of my disappointment has been eased and I am so happy that Motown was spotlighted at The White House. I appreciate that our President and our Michelle has kept the tradition of showcasing music at The People's House alive and well. We need to keep the arts alive, and they were alive tonight! Great program!
Oh, it goes without saying, our Michelle looked fantastic!
beautiful.
