Youth in Arts, Mrs. O in Moschino

Style note: The First Lady wears a Moschino brush stroke jacket, seen in 2009 here, paired with what appears to be a coordinating dress.

This outfit is elegant. It was a pleasure to watch her.

Sorry, but not one of her best looks. Too much going on which detracts from her natural beauty and style.

I think this jacket is so witty. I love the playful take on Chanel.

Not too good from my angle.

Why not just wear Chanel instead of this "playful" version.

It is too much.

It's good to see Mrs. O from head to foot here as it complements the detailed view of her originally wearing the jacket in 2009. Thanks, Mrs. T.

I love the First Lady's current hairdo. Very sophisticated.

From my perspective (obvs. I'm not her) I feel like a Chanel jacket would add an element of stiffness and formality to what seems to be a kid-centric event. Chanel is wonderful, but I think of that iconic jacket as very "ladies who lunch."

But hey, it takes all kinds, right? Thank goodness we aren't all born with the same tastes, the world would be boring that way. I really dig this outfit, the jacket in particular.

While I love to come to this site to see what she is wearing I am more in love with all that she is doing. An excellent job! Reaching and encouraing so many young people is wonderful.

I remember when FLOTUS initially wore this jacket and I was not keen about it. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but it did not wow me at all. However, seeing it with the dress I have changed my mind! Somehow it clicks for me and once again, I don't know why. I find it appealing as an ensemble instead of being worn as a seperate. She has a keen sense of fashion and what works for her. I think it goes back to her motto, "wear what you love". That's good advice for all of us.
The video shows the playful, ligh-hearted side of our Michelle, which I enjoy seeing. Thanks Mrs. T. for posting the video!

It's funny you say that Charlene in Detroit, I was thinking the opposite. I liked the look better as a separate. But I'm not a matchy person. Anyway, love the first lady, not the skirt.

Mrs. O looks great! She really does like Moschino!

I kind of remember seeing this outfit on UGLY BETTY, on the last season, with a pink pin... I remember it was one of the nice jackets she wore (before she would only dress like Jenna Lyons from JCREW).

I don't know if this was intentional, but it was cute of her to wear a jacket that looks like it has a brush stroke design at an event honoring young artists.

I love what the First Lady is wearing. I'm with you Charlene in Detroit. I love the First Lady because she wears what she likes. What she likes. And she is not trying to please anyone else.

Christina, I think there was some intent behind it because last time she wore the jacket it was to that science bowl type thingy. So, it appears that she always wears it around open minded people, which young people tend to be, especially when it comes to style.

Not my style, but if she likes it, I love it! I just love when she interacts with people. She is so down to earth! The part with the young man with the pony tail was too cute.

It's great to see that most of our best young artists are minorities!

I thought this ensemble might be a repeat but i wasnt sure. I say this because her outfits of late arent so much like this one, indicating how her style has possibly changed somewhat over the months and years, but always classy. I actually liked the way she wore it previously. Even though this looks like a matching set, its too much so. Theres a lot going on with the patterns here and like someone else mentioned it takes away a lot from her elegance. The dress would do better with some type of solid cardigan or something else more demure. But she still looks pretty though! I typically love her outfit choices, but this one doesnt do it for me unfortunately.

I like the jacket and I like the dress but not together.
When worn like this the outfit looks like the 60's which is being repeated now in fashion.

Agree with Mrs o fashion lover--in my opinion too much going on when wearing dress and jacket.

I do not like this look on Mrs O. I like when she wears more youthful looking attaires.

I wonder if this even is a dress. When she wore the jacket in the past, it had a beautiful black blouse with a bow. This time she wore the bow pin right on the bow of the blouse. Last time she wore the bow on the jacket pocket. Could this be a skirt? Maybe I'm way off.
