In Melon Michael Kors

Image by Evan Vucci / AP Photo
The first lady visted the United States Trade Representatives office in Washington, D.C. this afternoon, dressed in a Michael Kors sleeveless doubleface sheath dress -- the color of which was officially described as "melon" -- paired with a white cardigan and snakeskin heels. Lovely!

gorgeous!
@Ms. M, That's why we love our Sister Aretha here in Detroit. She's a hometown, homegrown girl (icon). Wouldn't trade her for the world!
The First Lady looks so confident! My hope is that she is inspiring women all over America (and the world) to eat healthier, excericse and enjoy both life and fashion to the fullest!
Mrs Obama rocks and will continue to rock!!! Even if and when the usual suspects crawl out of nowhere to nitpick unposed pictures. Rock on Mrs Obama, rock on you amazing and centered paragon of womanhood!!!
Only a low class low life would make allusions to a lack of a "toned butt" when referring to any FLOTUS.
Nuff said.
I just cannot help but smile at some comments. The FLOTUS is human, thus she has a butt! I don't see what is low class about mentioning her toned butt. She puts her trousers on one leg at a time like the rest of us (lol!)
Lest anyone still think that this dress is NOT too tight, take a look at the rear-view picture in the link that BeeGee provided 4/3 @ 9:22pm. Truly dreadful.
It's not the belly so much as the hips. It needs another inch around th hips so it doesn't ride up like that, drawing your eye to the horizontal line it creates, which in turn makes her hips appear wider than they are. Unacceptable of designer clothes and her stylist. But, again, the color is beautiful. And I agree, a necklace would have been appropriate.
I love the dress and it looks great on her. I particularily like the way the dress shows the "tiny" imperfection of her having a little bit of a belly. Mrs. Obama is a healty American woman with a real woman's body. I admire her for not feeling like every photo of her looks like it's been airbrushed to show only a perfect body. In reality, non of us are perfect. It is perfectly fine to have real curves and a little bit of a "jiggle".
I think it might be a good idea to remember that readers have been commenting -- good, bad and indifferent -- on Mrs. O's wardrobe choices since this blog was started. If I'm not mistaken, that's kind of the point...we all don't like every little thing she does, but it should be a given that we're all fans of Mrs. O or we wouldn't be bothering.
The point remains that it is possible to say that you don't like something without being horrible about it.
For example, I could say that judging from the comments of some of the people who post their judgmental and nasty comments here, that we can assume they are all jealous-assed fuglies. But that wouldn't be true, of course.
However, given that the minute anyone suggests constructive criticism would be more ..... well, constructive, the blue meanie club come scorching out of their holes to say that I have to respect their opinion. Amazingly girls, I really don't. And you've so earned that.
In the meantime, I would just like to comment on the true meaning of "dreadful".
Dreadful, is one woman dying in childbirth every minute.
Dreadful, is the fact that last year, 9 million children under five died, 40 per cent of them in the first month of their lives.
Dreadful, is when countries like Taiwan insist on collecting their debt from Haiti, when there is no way in hell for Haiti to rebuild without outside help, let alone think of profit.
Dreadful, are the numbers of children prayed upon by trusted adults.
Dreadful is SO not a picture of a trim butt in a lycra skirt that has a small crease in it. Really, trust me on this.
I think I have to waste a DUH!!!! Everyone knows this is blog where you express your feelings about the FL's attire, but if you been here from the beginning you also know that we want to keep those opinions respectful, whether good or bad. It's also my right to comment on other poster's comments and I do so and most of the time I try to keep some rein on my feelings because if I truly told them What I thought about them and their opinions, I probably would be banned from this site. Also, everyone who visits this site does not have true admiration for Michelle Obama. They make themselves say nice things when they can't find any flaws, but when they do, OOOOO WEEEEE, they bring out their flashlights and shine the light so bright on that flaw. And for the life of me I can't figure out why. What is your point? Who do you think you are hurting? It can't be Mrs. O because she probably will never ever see your comment and if she does, I'm sure she wouldn't care. And I hope you are not trying to hurt me or posters that you think only have postive things to say about Mrs. O because if that's the case, you might as well save yourself some typing. Personally, I don't give a you know what about what you think, but if I feel you said something foolish or disrespectful, I am going to say something. And that's that on that!!
If I were to put this dress on I would want someone (my best friend, sister or anyone who cares about me) to say "hey Joyce that dress is too tight. Try something else for now".
It's not wrong to comment on Mrs. O outfit. No, she may not care, or even read this and obviously to make the comparisons made by Posh Tater is absolutely ludicrous. But people lets calm down. This blog is supposed to be fun. It’s just clothes. Lets all take a breath and try to let others express thier opinions.
Really its not that deep.
Tater: What a ludicrously over-wrought post. The really interesting thing is that even though many other posters have said the EXACT same thing, you have chosen to go after me, per usual. There is some odd reason that you always go after me, and I think I know what it is, but you would surely deny it. There is no way that I am going to allow you to beat me into submission by constantly making nasty comments the way you have to so many other posters. I will stay on this blog no matter what you (who obviously think you run this blog) choose to post. Look up the meaning of
"dreadful" by the way. I guess it means whatever you think it should.
@Christen
First of all - the name is Posh.
Secondly, an alternate interpretation of Posh's post is there are ways to express one's dissatisfaction with an outfit without being unpleasant, gnarly, sarcastic, making allusions to Mrs. O's body - as in "LACK of a toned butt and tummy" - and using vocabulary that is over the top.
You are not among the posters who come here to make snide remarks exclusively, but there are a few.
And Posh does not make nasty comments to "so many other posters". Her take on Mrs. O's fashion is at least refreshing, creative, without malice, and from a London and international perspective that brought us a revamp of fashion since the 60's. Rather than make it about what you perceive as a personal slight, why not try to see it from the perspective of people who think it would be more fitting and respectful to take some time to choose words and tone a little more carefully?
Couldn't have said it better myself, Bevi!!!!
LOL! I am always amused by posters who are SO so quick to throw around spiteful comments to other posters, but are the first to bleat "victim" if anyone calls them out. Hehehe. Too funny.
Dreadful means full of dread. Headline news.
i am from south africa and love your site.Your first lady is beautiful and she has style.i agree with others the view from the back is unflattering.
I dunno. I think she looks hot. I love the color. Love the dress. No complaints. And she's so darn sweet!
Great color, great line. Bad fit. It gives the eye way too much information about her body. She needs to stay away from stretchy, huggy fabrics and go for outfits with more structure.
