The first lady greeted store employees while touring the Fresh Grocer supermarket in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania this morning, wearing a multitude of layers: a white blouse, grey sweater and blue blazer all cinched together with a royal blue belt at the waist, and paired with charcoal trousers.
The first lady is in Philadelphia to promote her "Let's Move" initiative, joined by Treasury Secretary Timothy Geither and Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsac.
Update: Later in the day, the first lady also spoke about "Let's Move" at Fairhill Elementary School in Philadelphia, PA. Thank you IVA for suggesting such a lovely photo!

Looks sharp and fresh!!!
None of this is working for me, the jacket, the belt and the sweater don't work to me, I don't feel like they relate to each other.
But at times like these I remind myself that Mrs O's positive work far outweighs anything she could wear.
Looks like a mom on a grocery store run during an otherwise busy day! Our First Lady is on point!!
The First Lady always looks fashionable and fresh--even if I don't "relate" (as Mica says) in a personal way to her outfit du jour. Yet, it's her seemingly "individual" style sense that makes her clothing choices appealing and novel. She seems to dress with confidence--and not with what the fashionistas and "experts" tell us we should be wearing--or how to wear it. Her fashion confidence has emboldened me to express myself (sartorially) more to my liking, and to feel less afraid about mixing and layering colors, fabrics, high end and low end, etc.
Love the color of the jacket and also the woman wearing it. But the belt creates too much bunching, not her best look. The funny thing is, I like Michelle more when she misses, it makes her seem
more real! Think of Pat Nixon or Nancy Reagan. So perfect always and so boring!
I like the combination of colors.
The jacket does not work for her in this photo... Everything else underneath the jacket looks fine on her...
Mrs. Obama was also visiting school children. Looking back, she always try to dress "cool and casual" when interacting with children. This outfit is definitely not stuffy.
I have to say I like this. It is something that can be worn on Fridays at work and still look professional.
The First Lady looks very preppy, very professional, some may even say very corporate. I like it.
I agree with you Tammy. I like it too for the very reasons you mentionned. And our First Lady can mix match colors like nobodies business!!
More about her Philly trip and message here at ObamaFoodorama
I love it. Nice use of her staple - the belt. I like the fit of her pants, the nice pointed toe flats. Her hair is on point, and I like that she's sucking on her smoothie in some of the pictures. She's thoroughly enjoying herself. Keep going Mrs. O! We love ya!
And I agree with Debra and Tammy's comments.
Mrs Obama is one of the best role models the world has today!! I adore this magnificent woman and she always looks so beautiful and elegant yet so aproachable and accessible.
Here's a great picture of her from later in the day when she went to speak at the school. http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/96873401/AFP
The outfit looks great on the ObamaFoodorama website that Jazz mentions.
There are other shots of Mrs. O that give you a different angle on several of her outfits.
Great look, and great work, Mrs. O!
It is a lovely ensemble!
I love the colors that she wears! I think she looks lovely and casual especially being in a grocery store.
Great outfit for a road trip. Take jacket off – you have a comfortable sweater and blouse
that co-ordinates very well with black pants. Black, white and grey go very well together
and those lines in her pants, could very well be a pale grey.
Outfit totally suitable for her surrounding. Love her glowing hair, slight sidesweep.
Beautiful, happy, wholesome smile and her make-up shows off, & highlights her cheek bones.
A picture of health. God bless Mrs. O as she ventures out on a journey about healthy eating
habits, that will have great benefits, excellent results for generations to come.
Love the color of the jacket--lights up her face.
She looks like "everymom" and I love that about her..........yet she can rock an evening outfit like nobody's business. No wonder the POTUS is still smitten after all these years! She mixes and matches clothing like no one I've ever seen. This outfit WORKS. She is telling us all, "Shop your closet!" Great advice in these trying times. Great fit on the pants.
This looks like a dressy casual outfit that a busy, stylish mom would wear...oh, wait, she's that mom! It's a smart look for FLOTUS, (even though I bet we're secretly fiending for an evening gown picture really soon!).
I like the color of the jacket a lot.
For another look with this jacket, I would pair it with a crew neck red and blue stripe sweater. For my personal taste, the grey doesn't provide enough contrast with the blue jacket. Also loose the belt. But this does demonstrate the many possibilities of what we have in our closet.
Have to say this one just doesn't work. The belt is wrong -- make it black or charcoal and we're good!
SOLIDS & STRIPES
Oh how I wish my legs were this long and looked this good in wide legged trousers... Even with all these layers, Mrs O manages to look neat and not uncomfortably bundled up. I like to rock a tie now and again, and I'm thinking that a tie with that gray sweater sans the jacket would have looked crazy, sexy cool!
Anyone who can wear that many layers and not look fat... that's a feat all in itself! Madame Obama looks fabulous as usual.

Here's a great photo of the FLOTUS addressing the National Governor's Association this morning.
MRS. OBAMA IN RADIANT RED SLEEVELESS DRESS AT NGA TODAY!
First Lady Michelle Obama's address to the National Governors Association today about the Let's Move Childhood Obesity initiative was truly powerful, and she looked spectacular to boot. She wore that red sleeveless dress that she was once photographed in having a tete-a-tete with her dear hubby before the Presidential Medal of Freedom award event on August 12 2009.
Here is the C-SPAN video from Michelle Obama's NGA address earlier today

Here is the photo of her in the same red dress last year at the Presidential Medal of Freedom award event on August 12 2009. It is such a well tailored clean-lined sheath dress. And she looked so beautiful then and even an more radiant and passionate speaker today.

VERY NICE THE BELT IS BACK CANT WEIT TO SEE WHAT SHE IS GOING TO WEAR AT THE BALL SUNDAY.
To our super smart, super cool First Lady: Bravo!
This outfit shows again how versitile her wardrobe is. She wore this same jacket I believe at the EPA round of thank you's last year. http://tinyurl.com/yc522dz
Love this look. Layers work! Colors complement each other. Fit is fabulous. I think it's a homerun! Something I would wear, for sure!
I like this a lot. The colour and texture expecially. The matt and shine are interesting and the white collar pulls the eye to her face. It's more casual than corporate wear without losing elegance, and it's kinda formal without being stuffy. Really smooth. And presumably the jacket could have come off if it had been warm enough, and the outfit underneath would have been elegant grey sweater over a crisp white skirt and charcoal pinstriped trousers. I really enjoy the belted jackets - she has the figure to so this so I'm envious of her ability to pull it off without any bunching!
I agree, attygirl. I took one look and said that I could wear that look anyday. I love the use of different colours and fabrics.
