A Pretty Pin For You

Dear Readers,

It's hard to believe this little blog began in September 2008! The first lady and her dynamic, ever-evolving style continue to draw us here in celebration and admiration, even two years later. On a personal note, I want to thank each of you for your ongoing support and contribution to this blog. Your comments and insight make it what it is. (Case in point: without reader "marky mark," the internet wouldn't be buzzing about Mrs. O's latest Marc Jacobs frock!)

In honor of the holidays, and to say thank you, I am giving away a vintage Hattie Carnegie silk brush pin, similar in style to one that the First Lady often wears. Pictured above, this vivid green gem is 4 1/2" inches in diameter ... an accessory for the bold! It is in stellar vintage condition, save for a slight faded spot on the enamel center button. You can see Mrs. O wearing her orange Hattie Carnegie pin here or here

For your chance to add this Mrs.O-inspired pin to your jewelry box, please add a comment to this post. I will select the winner via random.org on December 24 at 9pm EST. Please check back then.

Happy Holidays and THANK YOU! xoxo Mrs T

Update: Congratulations to Megan B. who posted comment #163. You are the winner, picked via random.org. I will email you shortly! Merry Christmas to all!

What a delightful pin ! It makes me think of the hats worn by 50's ladies, so elegant, so Christian Dior's new look. I love it. The colour is so nice, it will suit perfectly with spring jackets and cardigans. By then, merry christmas time to all of you, especially Mrs T ans Mrs O, of course !

I'm a working mum who loves fashion. Michelle Obama has been an inspiration to me and since first "meeting" your blog, I have started to incorporate many of her fashion choices into my work wardrobe - the simple shift dresses in solid and strong colours, that one strong fashion statement (be it brooches, stacked bracelets or kitten heels) and belts to cinch the waist add visual interest. I visit your blog daily and it must have had some fabulous effect because I recently won the 'best dressed' "award" in our office! Thanks Mrs T. I wouldn't be able to purchase a Hattie Carnegie pin even if I wanted to because it's not available here so wouldn't it be delish to receive one in the mail?! sigh! Happy holidays!

This is my favorite blog - it is so positive and such an inspiration to me. I have been adding lots of belts to my wardrobe and now it is time for some pins! Best wishes for the holiday season and a happy new year!

Thank you for creating this blog and keeping it going. It's fun to be able to peek into the first lady's wardrobe and it helps keep me current in some ways with what's going on in the country by following what FLOTUS is wearing!

The pins look so great on Michelle that I bought 3 of them for the first time ever. One is black with small feathers, the other is light brown for my yellow cardigans and the other is grey, black and with rhinestones. They look beautiful and add style.

I love Mrs.O! Her style, her beauty, & her intelligence she is a CLASS ACT! AND she looks like me!!! I love that!! God is Good! What an EXAMPLE she is of Beauty & Grace! Thank for this site, it gives me a break from the Obama-"haters" out here!

Dear Mrs. O,

Here in Holland it is hard to follow the first Lady. So I am very glad you started this site and I am checking it weekly. Keep up the good work!!
Wishing you all very nice christmas days and a blessed 2011 from the Netherlands!!

Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 8:47 AM | Unregistered CommenterJenny

Most working folks start their day with a cup a joe. I, however, do not. After clocking into work (I teach employability skills to disadvantaged and/or disabled adults), I turn on my computer and go straight for Mrs. O! Your coverage of our first lady's style, grace, involvements, and engagements inspire me to put forth my very best each and every day. I LOVE Mrs. Obama and I LOVE this site. God Bless you, Mrs. Obama, and God Bless the United States of America! PS. Happy Holidays.

If we stripped all the fine clothes and jewelry from the First Lady, something tells me she would remain a model of grace and class! She's a true inspiration. Happy holidays! Peace, love and hope.

How special to be among those who honor fashion and style as Mrs. O interprets it. I look at only this blog daily and have since you started. As one who works alone from home, so my fashion is usually modest and comfortable, I love to see Mrs O doing her job each day with much greater style. I learn from the many contributors to this site. Thank you for lifting my fashion sense up each day and keeping me current.

I too love the pin but best of all I really enjoy your website. No politics, no bashing, just about a lady who just looks great in everything she wears and represents our country and its fashion industry so well!

Love this blog. Love this pin. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

The value of Mrs. O's sartorial exuberance lies not just in its demonstration of timeliness, fun, color, flair and other basic attributes of sound clothes horse-sense, but in its willingness to show this and beauty on and of a person of a certain age and status. By pursuing fashion as a means of expression, her clothes help extend the idea that personal definition and taste are goals to which we all can (and should?) aspire.
