Mrs. O wore a teal green herringbone sheath dress, accessorized with a black flower brooch at the shoulder for the event. Designers TBD.

I love this. Love the color and love the pin. She's really been keeping her silhouette very slim and tailored and she's just been knocking it out of the park, outfit after outfit. And of course, the hair and makeup are fab as well.
That's beautiful. Love the rich colour and a peak of glossy black at the shoulder.
Flawless skin. This is classic Mrs.O for sure.
Has anyone pegged the designer of the tweed number worn to the American Red Cross?
She looks fabulous. Another great dress for her and I am really liking this haircut. Can't wait to see her at the State of the Union tomorrow!
Very nice. Mrs. O seems to have decided on sheath dresses for her 2010 look. This one is a beautiful color for January.
Mrs. T.
Thanks Great Lady Michelle Obama.
I saw a frontal view on Politico and started smiling. I love this color, style, accessorizing on Mrs O. I just think she looks drop dead fantastic in this look!
I agree. Beautiful color for our First Lady. She's got such Class!
Agree -- gorgeous!
I really think Mrs O has hit her stride, simple, elegant yet somehow new and fashion forward!
Joy to read about what she is doing and wearing. I think it's the power of that wonderful bob! it goes with whatever she wears.
I'm totally in love with the flip for her long bangs....loves it
My fav color green.... and Mrs O looks fantastic. I like that silhouette on her.
This is my favorite look on Mrs. O. Just sexy and simple. And the color is gorgeous. Perfect 10!
She looks amazing, so amazing. The color is so rich. Could this be the dress she wore for the St. Patrick"s day celebration last year?
She looks absolutely FAB!
Dress is great, but totally inappropriate. It is winter! Daytime sleeveless shows that Mrs. Obama does not have good "fashion sense." Looking around the room there is not a single other person dressed this way---what is she thinking of? She needs some advice.
Shiny gorgeous hair, accentuates glowing cheekbones creating a doll-face image.
Great green colour - brooch stands out against her healthy bouncy hairdo. Her femininity
rises to the top more and more every day.
Message well taken, we can be all that we want to be, stay in shape, accomplish
goals, energetic, great hair & make-up, the list is 'endless'.
Simply O-mazing....I love the color, it is so perfect for her skin tone and the hair is FABulous. Love
love her wide open mouth smile,,,,,,shows so much personality.I just love this woman.
I need to drop in and "gush" over this fabulous look. Outstanding! I absolutely love the color and texture of the dress, it's fit, and the black brooch. Just perfect.
When Mrs. O first debuted this hair cut, she wore it pulled back on both sides, and I didn't find that look flattering for her. But since she's begun to pull one side down in a long bang, I love it. I think it's more modern and energetic than the one I previously preferred.
She looks fantastic. She's a wonderful, strong, joyous, beautiful woman. Go Michelle!
She really looks amazing in this dress. I like the deep, rich tone and it seems to have a texture to it, maybe boucle. This is good color on FLOTUS. While I don't prefer to wear a dark accessory with a dark color dress or suit, I'll re-think that choice because it works here. Instinctively I would've put a light color brooch or something with this, thinking it was the rule of thumb.....new rules, newer thumbs!
Hi Charlene - There's black in the herringbone tweed, so I think the black brooch is perfect. What would you have chosen?
@Willow, I see the black tweed in the dress, but for me, I usually do the same boring thing. I put a white silk flower or soft yellow, pink, aqua or something like that with a dark color. I like this combo but I notice that when I dress, I'm predictable. That's the best part of seeing how other women dress, it gives me ideas...sometimes I need a push to implement those ideas. Thanks for making me expound.
The haircut is perfect today too. I really didn't like it the first couple of times I saw it but today I love it. She just gleams with great health and style.
Did I tell you all.....I LOVE MY FIRST LADY!!!!
Mrs. T, on the purple tweed sheath have you checked into Donna Karan? I was looking at her collection, didn't really see the dress. But Wendy Williams mentioned being inspired by this dress, and so she wore a Donna Karan sheath.
@DLK, the dress is also tweed, I'm sure don't think tweed is for spring/summer!!!!
If you didn't know by now, now you know. Mrs. O has changed the rules of fashion. I remember the first rule she changed was how we thought about flats.
Now women can be confident showing their arms all year around. Kudos Mrs. O for bring a trendsetter and not follower.
Hi Charlene - I enjoyed your expounding. Mrs. O is helping all of us to think outside of our tired boxes. ;-)
wowser! this color is so rich...and looks fantastic on her....Mrs. O can do no wrong for me!
She continues to inspire me in every aspect of my life...great woman...God bless and keep her safe!
Yes she is, and for me, it's about time that I do!
@DLK - Any "rule" that says you can't wear sleeveless dresses in winter is antiquated...much like don't wear white after Labor Day. Today's woman goes sleeveless year-round. Some may choose to wear a cardigan or blazer/jacket if they like, but it's not required.
Mrs. O is not the one lacking "good fashion sense".
LOVE MRS O GREEN DRESS AND SHOES I SAW THE WHOLE OUTFIT IN OTHER WEBSITE SHE WEAR GREEN SHOES LOVE IT.
This was on C-Span 2 (and is being repeated now and maybe again during the night). She certainly was lovely. And the solid teal worked well against the background flags. One lady in a floral print (also seated at Michelle's table) spoke earlier and got lost in the flags.
At the end a lady in red (Coast Guard officers wife) presented her with a box of military chocolates formed into the emblems of each branch of service. She was very excited and stated how everyone there was awed by Michelle. For that she received one of Michelle's famous hugs.
I think Mrs O looks fabulous. Perhaps the sleeveless dress bashers have not yet experienced the joy of the hot flash?
She has such a fun, expressive face. I really love this color! And the brooch is a nice bit fo fun. I'll have to find some full-on shots.
I wonder if it comes with a jacket. She's making me cold just looking at her!
Thanks for the recap, Sharon. From each picture I've seen from this event, Mrs. O appears to be feeling and emanating a lot of love and excitement. Looks like a nice time was had by all. That's good since this was a wonderful message she was bringing.
Just finished watching it again. The lady at the end was in hot pink (chocolates wrapped in red) and guess what--the pink number was sleeveless! Also seen, while she was greeting people, several other sleeveless outfits. Lots of people out there without any fashion sense! lol!
I love this dress. The color is perfect for her. I can't wait to see tomorrow night's outfit.
Teal is the new black! Gorgeous. It's amazing how many different versions and feels of sheaths and flowers she comes up with! I can't get enough of Mrs. O!
Is there any color this woman cannot wear??? Must be these photos....to me it reminds me of the Pine Green crayon in my childhood Crayola box. But I LOVE the color on her and love this drop-waist fitted silhouette. She looks great. I think the first time we saw "the cut" her hair was still a little bit "in shock". Mine does that for at least a day after a cut and color. Then it "settles" and behaves when I'm styling it.
Please, please, PLEASE, someone find out what lotion or shimmer or product she puts on her skin to get that dewy look!!! Has anyone noticed how flattering and modern her makeup has looked lately? What's nice is, you see HER, not the makeup! Looks like she may have used some similar teal green color eyeliner, too. Wow!
Full length photo of the dress on Huff Post. They are calling it forest green. Nice figure flattering sheath - very "Mad Men" 60's style.
Love, love, love this fabulous dress! What a wonderful color....it looks so good on Mrs. O. The brooch is beautiful too, as is her hair.
@DLK: Take a close look at the texture of this dress. It's a heavier weave, and probably a wool of some sort -- there is no doubt that it's part of the autumn/winter collection of some designer. I Mrs. O had worn this in summer as you seem to imply she should have, both the colour and texture would have been out of place and her sense of style would have certainly been off. I don't think she's the one who needs fashion advice...
Oh darn, thought State of the Union was last nite so I'm online at 5:30am to check on her outfit; now must wait til tonite; ANYWAY.....
@thatOtherMimi I love your comment about her haircut! (Willow, yours too) I'll bet thousands of women (myself included) will bring a picture of it to their next haircut appointment. Previously we had the Victoria Beckham style bob, which is still very popular (at least where I live), but now maybe we'll see a transition to this new style that Michelle is wearing.
Michelle is an inspiration to ALL women especially we women in our forties who are often percieved by the media to be "middle aged" or "over the hill" or "look good for our age....considering...."
Her skin is simply flawless and I am not convinced that this is down to plenty of water and good old genetics.Like canyongal, I would love to know what the secret to Michelle's skin and makeup.
I agree with Char, that sheath dresses are definitely Michelle's 2010 look - she has the long limbs, nippy waist and flat stomach to carry them off. She looks happy and confident in this picture. I love it.
She looks fantastic! She is so full of life, her energy inspires me every time I see or hear her.
I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but I would love to know what kind of skin care line she is using. Her skin (face as well as body) has such a smooth, hydrated look. Lovely!
Love her energy. Her smile is like a ray of sunshine. G l o w i n g.
Thanks Mr. T.
GORGEOUS!! Man, I wish I had her skin tone. And her muscle tone ;-) This lady can wear anything.
Mrs. O's signature is the sleeveless dress. I'm am sure that she wears what she feels comfortable in, the fabric is great of the colder months. Like many she probably runs warm like alot of people including my wife, no matter what time of the year. Figure all the lights with all the people and all her hugs, don't want to be sweaty, that would not be cool. The flower is so so. Anyone got any closeup of the fabric for the dress.
I have to agree with DLK. I am getting frustrated with the sleeveless wardrobe in winter. Yesterday it was 45 degrees in DC. I think wearing sleeveless in winter shows her disconnect with the physical world. I wonder what temperature they keep the Whitehouse at. It's winter, turn down the thermostat and put on a sweater.
THE FLOTUS LOOK GREAT IN HER BEAUTIFUL GREEN THE FLOTUS IS JUST AMAZING
I HOPE SHE WEARS HER ARMS OUT FOR THE STAT E OF THE UNION. THE POTUS WILL NEED HER
STRONG ARMS TO LEAN ON BECAUSE THE VIPERS ARE OUT TO GET HIM.
I would have to agree with several other writers that Mrs O seems to have found a look that really works for her. The new hair style is simple, functional, yet very chic. Agree with canyongal's comment that the look is very "Mad Men" early 60s. I think back that when Mrs Kennedy wore simple, clean-lined outfits she always looked her best, and Mrs O is doing the same. Less is more! Again, I have to say that we're very fortunate to have a First Lady who is not only intelligent and good looking, but very sexy too. Brava Michelle!!!
