Mrs. O Out On The Town

mrso_goodstuffImage via DC365

Mrs. O had a lunch date at Good Stuff Eatery on Capitol Hill yesterday. According to the New York Post, Mrs. O ordered the President Obama burger topped with bacon, blue cheese, homemade onion marmalade and a horseradish mayo.

Mrs. O was joined by her staff, including press secretary Katie McCormick Lelyveld. "Sometimes you just need a burger," said McCormick Lelyveld to the Washington Post.  "It was her idea."

We are loving Mrs. O's tote! Thank you for everyone who contributed links.

Michelle looks too cute and as I mentioned on a previous thread....very normal. I'm glad she can leave the White House from time to time with her staff. I like to know she's not dolled up 24/7, but still looking casual and nice. This was her before the election, and this will be her when they leave the White House. I hope she stays as happy as she always looks.

Also, I read on the Good Eatery site that no one knows exactly what burger Mrs. O had....they just made a platter of a lot of their popular burgers for she and the staff to sample from. The Obama burger was one of those on the platter, but the owner doesn't even know what she ate. But I bet she had one of their marshmellow milkshakes and fries!

I love that Michelle shows moderation...eat right and exercise most of the time and then treat yourself now and again with a real burger, not a processed burger from BK or McDonalds. It's good to know she's balanced and not obsessive about what she eats. It makes me want to listen to what she has to say more b/c she's realistic and credible.

The capri pants look like the ones she wore for the Feeding America activity. Nice casual look.

The bag looks like the same one in the parent-teacher conference picture from later in the day, though it's only seen from the back in that shot.

I read a comment on another message board that said something like "Damn! Those Obamas are some carnivorous mofos." (because the prez went to another local hamburger joint last week too.) It made me laugh and laugh.

Daylife has a pic of the POTUS & FLOTUS coming back from the parent/teacher conference. It is only a shot from the back, but MrsO looks really cute in a gray/white floral skirt and yellow sweater. She also has some silver (?) sandals. Here is the link http://www.daylife.com/photo/06wqf2If6B1jE

I bet tonight Mrs. O will wear something from Azzedine Alaïa's collection. I look forward to seeing what she wears.

Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 4:49 PM | Unregistered CommenterYola

That grey floral skirt she wore to the parent teacher conference is J.Crew. I remember her wearing it on the campaign trail.

C-Span tonight should carry the WHCD at 8:00 P.M.

@ Kit: I concur! I so wish that the Obamas would stop eating so much meat. Still love Michelle, though.

Can't really see the outfit (not a close enough shot), but I like the ponytail hairdo. I think the updos are more flattering for her, because of her high cheekbones.

Yes, sometimes you need a burger and hang out.

There was a Pre-Correspondent's Dinner GARDEN PARTY today at the White House. From Noon to 3pm.

From whcinsider dot com:

Early estimates for the turnout at the Pre-WHCD Garden Brunch exceed 500, probably more, as a capacity crowd mingled and mixed in anticipation of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner tonight. The weather — always an issue in D.C. — cooperated, serving up a sunny, if slightly humid afternoon.

Guests included actors Val Kilmer, Christian Slater, Matthew Modine and Dana Delaney; Capt. Richard Phillips of the Alabama Maersk and his wife Andrea; Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano; former Clinton administration official Donna Shalala; David Gregory, Andrea Mitchell and Ann Curry of NBC News, and many others.

The party ran from Noon until 3:00 p.m., when guests started leaving to prepare for tonight’s big event.

-----
MSNBC is supposed to air the Corresspondent's Dinner tonight also.

Correction... the Garden Party was at the home of Tammy Haddad.

Folks are starting to arrive at the WHCD. Go to C-Span.org

Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 6:28 PM | Unregistered CommenterDonna No Shock

CNN dot com is also doing a live stream of the arrivals.

Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 6:39 PM | Unregistered CommenterLeah D

I've got CNN and CSPAN both up running and CSPAN is better.
CNN seems to have forgotten that they are live streaming and they are chattering and showing alot of the floor, feet, and ceiling! Hahaha!

Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 7:41 PM | Unregistered CommenterMimi

Don Lemon on CNN is jealous he's not there. Complaining "something's amiss" because there are so many celebs there and according to him, "Washington is supposed to be safe from all this Hollywood stuff..." Whiner.

Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 7:48 PM | Unregistered Commentermarabout40

Alicia's dress was a Narciso Rodriguez.

Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 7:49 PM | Unregistered Commentertess

Hey guys POTUS & FLOTUS are on their way

Politico reports Pool reports: At 7:33 we spotted FLOTUS through the trees and long line of vehicles entering her limo in what we're calling a pinkish reddish dress and we were off.

Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 8:00 PM | Unregistered CommenterMimi

They're already there. I was following the C-span twitter coverage and Ed Henry at CNN said they were mobbed at the VIP reception.

Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 8:02 PM | Unregistered CommenterJanelle

Janelle do we know what FLOTUS is wearing?

Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 8:05 PM | Unregistered Commentermimi

Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 8:05 PM | Unregistered CommenterKels
