Landing in London

The Obamas have arrived and Mrs. O has changed clothes! Mrs. O is wearing a chartreuse silk crepe sheath dress by Jason Wu dress paired with a black coat duster by Michael Kors, cinched at the waist by her signature Azzedine Alaia studded belt. If these first two ensembles are any indication, we have much to look forward to this week!

Hmmm .... a little Star Trek-y. But perhaps it's just the angle. Need to see more pics.

i can't wait to see the pics. these types of posts are what i'm looking for every day. I love to know what she wears day to day.

I have had so much anticipation for this day! I am an American studying abroad in Rome, and I must say that I am so proud of my first family!! I am a BIG Michelle fan!! Here is a great pic of their arrival in London that shows her fabulous make-up!! I love the color of the dress too...

There are more pictures on the link that Donna No Shock provided, and my goodness, those 2 look so beautiful.

I think I read they are going to have dinner as well as meet and greet with US diplomats, etc. So, her outfit is perfect for the socializing that is probably going on as soon as they arrive in London.

And her legs are so strong and muscular. She's so sexy and an inspiration for all women, especially 40-somethings!

Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 3:38 PM | Unregistered CommenterIVA

Okay . . . now that I've seen a video, I like it much better. I definitely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the colour. Shades of lemongrass, similar to what she wore at the Inauguration. And, HELLO, how does a 45-year old, mom to 2 have such a teeny, tiny waist?? LOL

I hope she's having as much fun as she appears to be . . . must be a blast!

Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 3:39 PM | Unregistered Commenterglammie

Looks like Michelle is 2 for 2 so far..I love
the color of the dress she wore when she arrived
in London..kind of goldenrod color. I guess
spending 6 1/2 hours in one dress is not too
comfortable. Tomorrow promieses to be another
big day..separte schedule..and then the Queen and
dinner at 10 Downing Street. This by the way
is great site!!

Ohhhh...check out this angle of them!

Michelle looks great in her goldenrod dress..perfect
for partying in at Winfield House tonight.
And tomorrow..will be another big day..busy day..
and then the Queen and dinner with PM Brown and his
wife Sarah.

WOW, This woman FIERCE!!!!!!!!

FLOTUS Michelle looks stunning. I love the dress, I love the hair! My President is looking like mr. American Boy!!!!LOVES IT!

STOP THE PRESS!!! Ladies has anyone else noticed that Mrs.O is showing a little more leg than usual?! H.E.L.L.O knees! Whoa. She looked stunning coming down those stairs! This is the beginning of an eight day almost fashion orgasmic experience!

Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 3:56 PM | Unregistered CommenterRocky

well...nobody can say she looks matronly in THAT dress she's wearing tonight in London!

Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 3:56 PM | Unregistered Commenterdavesoko1

I can cry! This is the best she has ever looked!

Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 3:57 PM | Unregistered Commenterdlev

FAB-U-LOUS...oh my! I love the yellow and my favorite Mrs. O belt...yipppeeeee!! Oh they are going to love on her something good for the next 8 days. And guess what? She all ours (I'm smiling ear to ear as I type this).

Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 4:01 PM | Unregistered CommenterMissPB

She looks great, but isn't it a little weird to wear the belt over the coat? I think it would look terrific worn directly on the dress.

Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 4:06 PM | Unregistered CommenterJRG

The name RENAISSANCE fits her so well! I love the entire look and her hair is OFF THE CHAIN!!

Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 4:08 PM | Unregistered CommenterZile

Could this fabulous look be Maria Pinto?

Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 4:08 PM | Unregistered Commentereogden

I am so pleased that they are both here. Mrs O looks fantastic. Why is anyone commenting on her clothes? Crikey - she would look good in dungerees with a paper bag over her head. She is special so buggery bollocks to the twisted minds.

Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 4:09 PM | Unregistered CommenterNicila

We in the Caribbean follow this beautiful first lady and of course her hunk of a husband the president! What a pair! Both of them show class and inteligence. We're proud of them. The world needed this at this time in history.

Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 4:10 PM | Unregistered CommenterernaE

@ Zile - LOL...she so is giving him that look and holding on to him for dear life. And he looks steady and strong making sure they make it together. Such a team they are!

Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 4:16 PM | Unregistered CommenterIVA

Well guys, just think of that : she was until recently a "normal" person - that is, a "wealthy" person, with a high-responsability job, married to a senator, which means that she indeed had to dress a bit prudently, but not SO prudently : it was sufficient that she could afford some nice, fashionable high-end clothes for important occasions... And all of a sudden, she is to bear the "image" of American fashion, American women, American taste, American youth of mind, American still alive sense of adventure, American simplicity !

According to my "European" view, she is achieving all that brilliantly...

By contrast, our French First Lady is "solely" a well educated former top model : she knows how to dress, she certainly understands the difference between classy chic and unnecessary extravaganza, but I would not bet that she "inhabits" her dresses the way your FLOTUS does.

Mrs. O looks fab, almost got rear end while checking my iphone for updates on the landing outfit......awesome!

The Obamas have arrived in central London at the American embassy in Britain -- Winfield House -- where they were greeted by the charge d'affaires, Richard LeBaron, and his wife. The Winfield House is the US ambassador's residence and where the Obamas will be staying while in London. The Winfield House has the second largest garden in London, Buckingham Palace has the largest.

Did she get her hair done on the plane? She looks faaaaaabulous. I love everything about this look! And whoever said that she's showing a little more leg, I definitely agree. Hey, the fashionistas always say to show off your best assets, so if she can't show off her arms, the legs are definitely the next best thing!

Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 4:35 PM | Unregistered CommenterS. Lauren

JRG-
It looks more like a 'long sweater' to me as opposed to a 'coat'.

Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 4:38 PM | Unregistered CommenterLeah D

Beautiful! Look at those legs! She is indeed faaaaabulous, S. Lauren!

Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 4:42 PM | Unregistered CommenterYOLA

Mrs. O is in great shape and the color of the dress is fabulous on her. She looks really nice in bright, daring colors. But - could you just imagine this esemble without that belt! I do not like it at all. Mrs. O figure is not for belts - sorry!

Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 4:49 PM | Unregistered CommenterMJMR

i love the belt
it makes her figure look even better
small waist nice hips
looking good Mrs O:)

Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 4:57 PM | Unregistered Commenterdanadevin85

Whoa...the legs! the legs! She's really workin' it with this look! I love the yellows on her, it seems it's becoming her signature color.

The hair - yes, it is lovely now. Shorter, and more face framing.

Whoever said a little star-trekky, yes, I can see that, but not in a bad way.

Go Flotus.

Politico has the scoop on the designers:

"She wore a cream Thakoon coat with black trim and a Michael Kors dress when she boarded the plane at Andrews Air Force Base, according to an aide in the first lady's office.

As she descended the stairs in London, FLOTUS had changed into a yellow Jason Wu dress and a black Michael Kors duster."
Jason Wu certainly gets the love! As well he should, because that yellow dress is fierce.

Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 5:01 PM | Unregistered Commenteredwina

Wow - they looking absolutely smashing !
The press is already going insane - all they have done is descended from AF One. I love it.
Mrs O transcendent in yellow and black - what a long lean silhouette she cuts.
They certainly are the embodiment of the 'New World' aren't they ? Thrilling.
The press is also noting that the First Couple came down the steps together - not w/ the First Lady following behind as in the previous administration.
Welcome to the 21st century !

I am in tears. FLOTUS looks stunning. Just the sight of this beautiful black couple, our leaders, I ..........they are just stunning.

Look what we did America. We are the greatest country in the world.

Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 5:11 PM | Unregistered Commentertoi22

That outfit is so pretty! She looks great!

Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 5:15 PM | Unregistered CommenterLady L

I love the yellow dress on Mrs O, a colour that adds cheer and puts onlookers at ease. Everything about this ensemble works for her, Mrs O shows her fashion confidence again in placing her patent black belt over her coat and not on the dress, and it works!

The yellow dress is perfect colour choice for an evening landing, and a beautiful shimmer in the sea of snapping photographers.
The tuxedo style detail at the front of the dress and cut above the knee-length, adds an essential hot touch to an otherwise conservative look.
With the wind teased sleek bob, FLOTUS is a delicate beauty next to the powerful POTUS.

Thank you Mrs T for providing the best coverage of Mrs O online - you ought be on the WhiteHouse payroll really :-)

Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 5:17 PM | Unregistered CommenterLucypearl

The fabric of the dress looks like silk. Can't wait to find out which designer.

Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 5:23 PM | Unregistered CommenterDonna No Shock

@donnanoshock - I posted above that Politico is reporting that the dress is Jason Wu and the duster is Michael Kors.

Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 5:25 PM | Unregistered Commenteredwina

she looks absolutely, unbelievably AMAZING!!!! Even though I'm only 16 I try to emulate her style in a way that is suitable for my age. I love the first family, they are simply Heaven sent.

Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 5:30 PM | Unregistered Commenternatasha

Sexy as all get-out. My goodness FLOTUS, what a beauty & those legs travel well...

"And if this comment is inappropriate I apologize. I've never spoken of a first lady like that; we've never had one that looks this good sinze I've been alive"--Lee

Dress by Jason Wu
Coat by Michael Kors
The now famous belt she wears Azzedine Alaia

Smart move placing the belt over the coat, as not to keep it in place and minimize the amount of tugging to keep it closed.

Mr. & Mrs. O, you look great.

Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 5:31 PM | Unregistered CommenterTrinityLee

I am so happy to see that Mrs. O is not carrying a purse. Even the Queen of England seems to find it necessary to lug a handbag along with her (as does the British woman in these pictures) as if she doesn't have anyone who can carry her lipstick, tissues and credit card for her!

Jason Wu and Michael Kors she wears these designers so well.
