Mrs. O Charms Cape Town

Photo by Charles Dharapak / AP Images

Mrs. O was in Cape Town, South Africa today, where she answered student questions at the University of Cape Town, followed by a visit to the District 6 Museum.

The First Lady's outfit du jour includes a Reed Krakoff coated boucle blazer, last seen here, paired with navy trousers and a printed top Duro Olowu top (see reader Kemi's analysis here). Nava Zahavi earrings accessorized the look.

Update: One more photo from later in the day, as Mrs. O participated in activities to raise awareness for HIV prevention at Cape Town Stadium. It's tempting to re-title this post 'Having a Ball'!

On a fashion note, Mrs. O debuted a striking color block dress and jacket today, accesorized with a pin at the neckline and bold blue flats.

For the recent stops, Mrs. O changed ensembles, wearing a halter vest with coordinating trousers, paired with a printed top and red flats. A yellow Rachel Roy trench coat topped the look.

Update: Per The Huffington Post, the First Lady wore a vest and trousers by J.Crew, available here, and top by ASOS Africa, available here. Mrs. O accessorized with navy and gold metallic Bhati Beads bracelets, available here.

Mrs. O and Nelson Mandela

The First Lady was in Johannesburg, South Africa today to visit the Nelson Mandela Foundation. While there, Mrs. O met with Nelson Mandela's wife Graca Machel. White House officials report that while viewing some of Mandela's personal papers at the foundation, Nelson Mandela sent word that he wanted to meet Mrs. O, along with her daughters and mother. Wonderful!

For the occasion, Mrs. O dressed in a raspberry hued skirt and jacket, punctuated with a colorful print top and blue flats. Turquoise Nava Zahavi earrings complete the look.

Update: Mrs. O wears a coral silk shantung jacket and skirt by Narciso Rodriguez. Nice to see that as some aspects of Mrs. O's wardrobe change and evolve, others stay very much the same!
