Turquoise and Melon

Photos by Luis M. Alvarez / Getty Images

Speaking at the 40th anniversary of the National Partnership for Women & Families on Thursday (and hugging organization president Debra Ness, above), the First Lady wore a melon-hued dress with textured detail through the skirt. Metallic open-top heels and Phillips Frankel amazonite and ruby earrings complete the look. What a beautiful summer palette.

Update: Mrs. O wears a Rachel Roy coral silk jacquard dress with wave pleat embroidery.

Enjoy a closer look at these gorgeous earrings, first worn when Mrs. O visited Buckingham Palace late last month.

Style Staple

After a state dinner last night, the first lady was back to work today, visiting CentroNia, a bilingual child care facility in Washington. Following her visit, Mrs. O announced Let's Move! Child Care, an effort to raise healthy eating and living for young children.

On a fashion note, Mrs. O turned to one of her favorite frocks -- a wisteria print dress by Tracy Feith first seen during the inauguration in 2009 and three times since! Bracelets by Jordan Alexander completed the look.

A Vision in Naeem Khan

The President and First Lady are hosting German Chancellor Angela Merkel and her husband Joachim Sauer for a State Dinner at the White House this evening.

For the occasion, Mrs. O has chosen a stunning ivory chiffon gown with linear crystal beading by designer Naeem Khan. An armful of Alexis Bittar bangles complete the look.

Naeem Khan has certainly become one of the First Lady's go-to designers for formal events! This is the third Naeem Khan gown that Mrs. O has worn since November 2009.

Delightful Dots

The President and First Lady greeted German Chancellor Angela Merkel at a White House arrival ceremony earlier today. For the occasion, Mrs. O chose a mixed print dot dress paired with pink pumps. Lovely!

Any thoughts on the designer? Update: The dress is confirmed as custom DVF from Resort 2012. You can see a peek of the dotted fabric here. Thanks to fashion journalist extraordinaire Jim Shi and various style savvy readers for the help!

Happy Weekend

The First Lady greeted the President as he exited Marine One at the White House this afternoon. Arriving back in Washington, the President had a treat for Mrs. O -- a pair of new garden gloves picked up at Fred's Pro Hardware in Toledo, Ohio. On a fashion note, some may recognize Mrs. O's Suno tunic from Summer 2009 here.

It was a busy day for the First Lady, as Mrs. O also delivered the commencement address at Quantico Middle and High School on the Quantico Marine Base in Quantico, Virginia. For the event, Mrs. O wore a sleeveless navy dress, adorned with fabric rosettes. Cute!
