Turquoise and Sand

After arriving in New Dehli, the president and first lady toured through Humayun's Tomb. (Humayun was a Mughal emperor who died in the 16th century; his tomb is known as the "mini-Taj Mahal.") Against this dreamy, neutral backdrop, Mrs. O's vibrant turquoise ensemble draws the eye. The first lady wears a below-the-knee skirt (the hemline du jour!) with pleated detail at the waist, a short sleeve cardigan and an embellished pin at the collar.

Mrs. O on Ellen

The first lady will appear on the Ellen Show today, speaking out against bullying. For the appearance, Mrs. O wore a pink sweater set and Peter Som Fall 2010 pencil skirt, accessorized with a Talbots Gem ribbon necklace, available here. For more on the first lady's appearance, Lynn Sweet of Politics Daily has coverage here.

Applause Please

The first lady is in New York City today, at the UN headquarters to hear the president address the United Nations General Assembly. For the event, Mrs. O was seated next to Yoo Soon-taek, wife of United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.

On a style note, the first lady's dress du jour is a purple print sheath, adorned with a floral pin at the collar -- perfect for a balmy day in the midst of changing seasons. The dress is by Peter Som, from the designer's Fall 2010 collection, seen here.

Style on the High Seas

Image by Rogelio V. Solis / AP Photos

The first lady was back in the gulf coast today to thank the Coast Guard for their efforts to clean up the oil spill, and to help christen a new Coast Guard cutter boat. Mrs. O will be back in the region soon -- late this summer the entire O family will vacation on the Florida coast. For today's event, the first lady wore a sleeveless dress, featuring a space dye-effect skirt and striped blouse top. Any first thoughts on the designer?

Update: Mrs. O is wearing a dress by Peter Som, from the designer's Spring 2010 collection, seen here. The bodice is a tonal striped mousseline and the bottom is a layered shimmer organza boucle. Almost two year's after the start of this blog, it's still exciting to follow the first lady's ever expanding roster of designers.
