Applause Please

The first lady is in New York City today, at the UN headquarters to hear the president address the United Nations General Assembly. For the event, Mrs. O was seated next to Yoo Soon-taek, wife of United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
On a style note, the first lady's dress du jour is a purple print sheath, adorned with a floral pin at the collar -- perfect for a balmy day in the midst of changing seasons. The dress is by Peter Som, from the designer's Fall 2010 collection, seen here.

Very nice! As always. I'm wondering why you haven't shown the dress Mrs. Obama wore to the
"White House Celebrates Hispanic Musical Heritage" event. I saw it somewhere else, and thought it was very unusual and colorful.
Another stunning print dress in a really gorgeous palette! Beautiful.
Don't forget, Mrs. O will be delivering a major speech at 3:50 PM Eastern today at the 2010 Annual Meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative. President Obama will be introducing her. This is an exciting opportunity for Mrs. O to speak once again on the world stage.
It will be livestreamed at 3:50 PM Eastern at the following:

Oh NO!! Michelle is wearing a dress that is a bright color. Maybe she should wear something depressing since she is at the United Nations. Furthermore, she is trying to direct ALL the attention on her becuase she is not wearing black. Also, at the UN the world leaders discuss issues like poverty, so she should be in black. Does she even know what the UN is, because her drees is NOT appropriate for the UN. *rolls eyes*
Thanks for the info, Gayle. I can't wait to see her speech.
Are you serious Mia? Do we want her to fake empathy by wearing the "official" colors of mourning, especially wen she is apart of an administration of hope? SMDH! When you are genuine and have seriously done your part, you can wear bright red to a funeral and folks won't bat an eye. Its not whats on the outside its whats on the inside as displayed in your actions. Besides, regardless of what shes wearing all eyes will be on her anyway. So, dusitng herself in ashes and wearing sackcloth won't matter anyway. SMDH! Anywhoo, another nice picture of another great look. But, beyond that, I implore you all to pray for the President and his family, and for the country. The enemy is trying to take over and destroy all the progress that this administration has made. Make sure you go out in November and vote in the numbers you did during the election. If you want more of Mrs. O, you have to support Mr. O!
I love her in short sleeves! She beats the hell out of the look they styled on the runway! Yikes!
This is a pretty dress. It is quite hot in NCY today - good choice for this weather and the occasion.
LOL @ Mia. I honestly felt like I must be losing my mind or have no idea how to dress because when I saw her picture at the Medal of Honor Event, I thought, very first ladyish and pretty. The bright color, pink shoes, whatever didn't even occur to me that it would be to cheery for the event or whatever nonsense people are making up on that thread. I'm seriously going to invest in inventing a harmless chill pill because a lot of people need to take some.
This dress is pretty and demure. She looks really nice right now giving her speech in the dress she wore the day she was honor mothers a few months ago.
Such a pretty dress! She looks so cute/ pretty.
Nice dress Mrs. O is wearing; beautiful hands.
@ Mia
Thanx for the chuckle of the afternoon!
@ IVA,
When you get that formula together for the "chill-pill" let me know, as I want to invest in it. LOL
NICE TOP AND BOTTOM MRS OBAMA WEAR AND LATER THAT DAY SHE WEARTHE SAME DRESS LAST YEAR ON MOTHERDAY SHE DID AT THE WHITE HOUSE.
Where can I invenst for the "chill-pill"? such a great idea!:)
I mean we will all disagree about different outfits she wears, but it drives me crazy when some women on here imply that she lacks intelligence, and she is a child!
The brighter lipstick that Mrs.O has been wearing lately adds even more sparkle to her beautiful face.
We've seen this dress before. This is an unusual photo - looks like a wedding photo with Bill Clinton officiating!

@ Mia Monte
You can almost always tell from the tone of the comments who actually likes the First Lady and simply disagrees with her choice of outfit from those who use their scathing comments as a passive aggressive way to put her down. It's so obvious that they don't even really like or respect Mrs.O, yet they visit a site dedicated to her to express their negative feelings about her. Such a waste of time and very sad. I'm not going to name names but, you all get my drift.
You can see our First Lady's speech at the CGI today here: http://www.livestream.com/cgi_plenary/share?clipId=pla_e16bd2ae-4117-4874-a157-c25769a6b3a5&utm_source=lsplayer&utm_medium=ui-share&utm_campaign=cgi_plenary&utm_content=cgi_plenary
@ Mia Monte and Ari,
You both hit the nail right on it's head by describing the types of people who visit this site. I couldn't have said it any better myself. i encourage you and other supportive members of this site to let these "drive-by negative posters" know that most of us are "on" to their game and we're not having it. They will be exposed for who they really are.
marabout40,
Thanks for posting the link to Mrs.O's speech today. I just watched it. She is so impressive. What a First Lady!!!!
Ok Mia! I guess I am slow. You were being facetious! LOL!
I happen to think this is a very pretty print dress and the diamond brooch is a nice touch. That being said, it is very disingenuous of some posters to drive away other posters they consider "negative" just because they disagree with opposing view points. Mrs. T, with all due respect, this blog will become a joke if you let it be run by a few exclusive bloggers who do not tolerate diversity of opinions. We frankly must learn to agree to disagree on certain outfits. Thanks
I know this is a Mrs. O blog but am interested in the suits worn by the woman to the left of Mrs. O and by Yoo Soon-taek. Thank you.
I like how Peter Som styled this dress with the burgundy vest and wide belt. It gives it a totally different look and makes it seem more like fall/winter wear. Our Michelle wore it with what seems like her favorite piece of jewelry, her diamomd brooch from our President. Yesterday's wardrobe seemed like a day of printed dresses in shades of blue. Really nice!
Mrs. O looking lovely in all her prints!
Love the print of this dress! Mrs. O is such a classy, lovely person!
Very pretty dress from Mrs O. My figure/body type is completely different to hers- I have quite big/chubby arms so generally avoid sleevless clothing as well as narrow hips so the body concious sheaths don't really work for me. However I enjoy them vicariously through Mrs O! lol
Nora this blog will become a joke when Mrs T listens to posters who hate on Mrs O on a regular basis and then think that just because they come here regualrly to do so that they are a valid contributor and worth listening to.
This is such a pretty dress, Mrs O looks great in it.
@Mia, that cracked me up. Thank you!
