Monochromatic Mix

Landing in Pretoria, South Africa on Friday evening, Mrs. O wore a mix of blues and purples, pairing a long coat with trousers and a blouse. A double strand of long pearls completed the look.
On Saturday morning, President and First Lady Obama met with South African President Jacob Zuma and his wife Thobeka Madiba-Zuma at Union Building in Pretoria, South Africa. For the event, Mrs. O paired pale pink pants with a coordinating top and cream blazer.

OMG I absolutely LOVE monochromatic blue outfit.. Must copy it! Love the pink-peach one too - trousers a bit long but lovely.
The combination of blues and undertones of purple are striking. And the color of coat pops. A dramatic color combination that echo’s her mantra, comfortable with her style.
The blush pink slacks and top gives Mrs. O a soft glow – very lovely. The jacket appears to be semi-sheer fabric. And the collar, lapels and front panels seems to have a silver contrast, which signals reserved, yet elegant.
Her signature look is taking on a new direction this summer with the introduction of simple clothing pieces for this trip.
Nice lines on this outfit, very flattering.
Different; nice; won't make any of my favorite categories though.
Ditto, soccer Nana. Neither looks would be my favourites. Although, I am loving the burnt orange one shoulder dress that the first lady is wearing tonight.
Mrs. O simply doesn't rock a blazer. It's not her look. While she fails to look dreadful or anything like that, channeling Hillary doesn't work wonders for her.
The blouse and slacks of the previous day are stunning. But if one can say that these blazers make her look a bit frumpy on this website without drawing verbal gunfire, that's what they do. There are certain sleeve lengths, necklines, hemlines, cuts of fabrics and accessories of which I might say the same. In terms of design and line, they simply aren't her best choices or looks--or my favourites. But hey, I dare say we all do similar things with our sartorial choices.
Dignified, distinguished, dynamic…………magestic, magnificent, grand, regal. Smashing blue long blazer (sleeves and length falls perfectly in the right spot) perfect for her height – along with stunning long pearls brings the mix of colours together.
This is my favourite colour on her in a long time – and on this trip, so far. I really hope she wears this blue often. Long Blazer, classic for events that are more formal and stately.
The different textiles transforms this combination and the light blue reflects a beautiful glow. Patent leather shoe!! "great contrast" completes the ensemble. Looks like a wedge heel?
Outfit so first ladyish walking beside the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation after arriving at Waterkloof Air Force Base in Pretoria South Africa (seen on The Obama Diary) – I’m just mesmerized. Blue on blue for me represents from our shores to your’s.
Pale pink top and pant quite dainty but don't like the cream blazer.
@operafanatic nice to see your post -- I learned a new word and tried the test. Didn’t like the results : )
Are the layered pearls worn with the gold pattermed dress (leaving Senegal) the same strand as the long strings of ones Mrs O is wearing with the blue monochromatic outfit? Love, love, love this site.
Jestina, I'm loving that burnt orange dress too!
Nice
On my monitor I am seeing purple and blue, which I was on the fence about at first. But I must say it's grown on me and I quite like it. The peach/tan outfit is alright. I must remember that our Michelle is in Africa as our First Lady and not my personal fashion fantasy :- )
I must say that I am enjoying this trip, it has given me a much needed diversion. I have missed you guys!
Love the blue outfit. The lines and colors look great on her. The pale pink/cream outfit is just ok, but the smile makes it. And I like her nail color.
