National Day of Service

The president and first lady participated in the National Day of Service today, volunteering at Burrville Elementary School in Washington, D.C. Pictured above, the Obamas were joined by City Year Executive Director Jeff Franco and City Year employee Sheri Fisher to stain a bookshelf.
After the project, the president and first lady gave brief remarks to volunteers. Mrs. Obama closed, saying, "So for all the young people ... as Barack says, we’re passing the baton onto you all. So the goal is, is that as you make your way through life, who are you pulling up behind you? And as long as you’re pulling somebody up behind you, you’re doing the right thing."
Last but not least, the fashion front: Mrs. O kept her look casual, wearing a purple and black geometric print top, paired with black pants, boots - and, of course, those fabulous new bangs!
Update: Mrs. O wears a top by plenty by Tracy Reese.

You know that song by the Black Eyed Peas called "I Just Can't Get Enough"? Well, that song is appropriate for how I feel :-) "I Just Can't Get Enough"... of those bangs!
not loving those bangs........don't know why, just prefer other hair styles of the past on our beautiful First lady!
There they go again...makin' me proud that they are my President and First Lady! So very encouraging no matter what they are wearing, doing, saying. I can hardly wait to see this 2nd Inaugaration and all that comes with it! First Lady, you keep changing up with the style and keep us all guessing what you will do next!
I like the bangs and I love the color on her!
Yep, I am liking those bangs. Very youthful yet still middle aged and charming. This takes my anticipation of the Inaugural gown up a bit - can't wait to see this look all put together!
I can honestly say,"the first lady" inspires me to keep my weight in check
and to continue to live a healthy lifestyle. I decided to cut my hair off for the new year, so bangs are not an option. But I love the look on Michelle. Thank You Michelle, for being a great example.
Bangs are well done, but prefer side swept ones. The thing about bangs is that you can always grow them out! I do love that our First Lady feels no angst about trying new things : ) Another way she is a great role model for everyone: hard work, courage, talent and good luck is something we can all aspire to and expect to realize. I preach to my school kids: everyone is gifted, just gotta find it through perseverance and believing in yourself. Don't you think the Obamas and their extended family show that just in photographs, and of course the choices they make in living their lives?
God bless our First Couple. God bless BO's Cabinet.
Mrs. O looked cute and casual. Obviously, Pres. O liked it, which I'm sure had more to do with the lady than the clothes!! You know what I'm talking about if you saw the video of them at this event ;-)
Hey Little One! It's been far too long, I know! We will catch up, I promise!
This FLOTUS of ours is something else. I love how she keeps it fresh and classy. I am loving the new do, it's sassy, or as my granny would say, SAUCY!
Yeah Nyon, POTUS knows what's up!
