Off to Hawaii

In keeping with their annual holiday tradition, the Obamas headed west to Hawaii this evening, where they'll spend Christmas. For the flight, Mrs. O layered casual black pieces, accented with a purple fringe scarf from Prova, previously seen here.
Please stay tuned over the next few days, as I'll be launching the annual Mrs-O.com holiday giveaway (hint: this year's item is extra sparkly!), as well as Best of the Year polls. In the meantime, I hope everyone has a marvelous weekend!

Michelle and Sasha are going to make me change my color palette in the suitcase I'm packing to purple and grey! Merry Christmas to all.
Get some much needed rest and relaxation, beautiful First Family. You are in our prayers. God, bless our First Family and bless our country to be truly united, the UNITED States of America!
I like this blog. It gives a lot of properly public exposure of our First Family in real time. Without going into the sordid or mundane of family matters, (of course they must exist occasionally), it allows us access to what we as citizens would like to imagine for the best, idealize perhaps a bit, yet normalize in the everyday lives of Americans. So much the better for us years from now, when the book comes out (illustrated in wonderful photographs), and we find that we've seen an accurate representation of this presidency, and our lovely First Family.
It is precious to see this family as our public face as decent, sane, humble, respectable people like the emperor of Japan and his family, setting a 'tone' of sanity as the most powerful nation in the world in contrast to the excesses (and perhaps some immorality) of other world figures, their governments, and dynasties.
Thanks for your website. It is a light and elegant touch focusing on a lovely woman. A nice counterpoint to the the heavy and cynical pictures of D.C. politic. I look forward to 4 More Years!

Fresh faced Mrs. Obama! Also, the resemblance between Mrs. O and her younger daughter is clear in this photo.
Mrs. O looks radiant (love the headband) and ready to spend time with her husband and family. So deserved! So glad they were able to get away together! May they have a blessed Holiday together.
Sasha has grown up so fast! Love that shade of purple on Mrs-O's scarf. Also really like the very natural makeup. Jealous that my brother, sister-in-law and niece are in Hawaii right now and may cross paths with the Obamas, while I freeze my tail off here in D.C.!
I'm hoping this message goes through. I've been submitting posts less and less because they never wind up posted....thanks for continuing this wonderful blog....Sildi
Sasha is growing up nicely. I dont like Mrs. O's makeup. I caught a glimpse of them on TV when they touched down in Hawaii. Mrs. O had changed into a dress and Sasha was in a Tshirt and shorts.
I hope they enjoy their vacation. Mrs O looks exhausted on this picture.
Happy holidays everybody.
I don't think I've ever seen Mrs. O wear her hair back like this with a headband before. I like this look on her and I'm sure it was very comfortable for that long plane ride to Hawaii. I'm usually thumbs up on just about everything Mrs. O does. I was, however, a little surprised to see her wearing her hair in a ponytail and a headband at the memorial service for Senator Daniel Inouye as seen in this picture from theobamadiary.com site.
I think the pony tail for the plane ride and her hair out for the memorial service would have been better. In the meantime, I'm counting the days and patiently waiting to see what Mrs. O will be wearing during the inaugural events! :)
I think Mrs-O is wearing this Rick Owens jacket http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/339035
@Vivienne- I agree about the ponytail. It would look much more sophisticated if she had pinned her hair into a small, tight bun laying on the nape of her neck. Can't wait for the inaugural wear also!!
Wow, Hawaii sure sounds like a slice of heaven right about now. We're getting pelted with snow here in Detroit!
I hope our First Family enjoys their time away from Washington. Poor POTUS, he's flying home tonight while leaving our Michelle & the girls behind.
I saw some pics on gettyimages along with this one. What a fashionable family!
Love seeing the First Lady fashions...and I'm not even a Democrat!! Thanks for an uplifting site!
