Mrs. O Goes to Target

Since the early days of the 2007 campaign - 2008 primaries, Mrs. O has always talked about enjoying shopping at lower priced venues so there's no need to do a "photo op" to prove the point. That is not her style. I'm happy she had an opportunity to shop at Target like any other woman, a bit sad that may now not be possible in the future. Highest respect to Mrs. O.

WELL HELLO..................TARGET WAS MADE FOR WHO SOeVER WISHES. NOT ONLY FOR POOR PEOPLE. Personally, I have never shopped or even been to a Target or TJ Max, whats wrong if the First lady desires to go. Come on, the world is changing.

Good source work.

Maybe we should give the AP photog some credit for the scoop. No doubt he has worked on this for a while, and got the snap after several attempts at deciphering the routine.

Whether you are the spouse of a celebrity or any famous person you relinquish a great deal of your privacy. Did she want to be seen or not--really makes no difference--so what if she has an agenda to be seen shopping discount or just wants to shop--you can take it to the bank that the majority of her closet is not filled with target items. (Make it a miniscule amount and you are closer to being right on)

Targeted update: the Associated Press is reporting that their photographer, Charles Dharapak, was contacted by the White House BEFORE Mrs. O's recent outing at Target. Mr. Dharapak was therefore, present and accounted for prior to the official arrival...lucky guy!!!

She would not have been noticed had someone in her dept NOT tipped off the AP for a good picture for them....this is simply a campaign run. Nothing more, Nothing Less

Are the Teapubs so crazy and rt-winged they come to this site to spew HATE here..this site was designed to celebrate all things Mrs O..start your own site(Haters) Why come on this site to say hateful and mean spirited comments about this first lady? ..she certainly has a right to shop wherever she pleases..she also has a right to wear whatever to chooses..wth is wrong with so many catty and snarky as well as misinformed folks continuing to spread vicious rumors and lies..Mrs Obama has led and continues to lead her life privately and otherwise in a respectful way.. Why people want to TRY to disparage her character is beyond pointless..Love the Obamas and support them 100%..so glad she has used her time as First Lady to make a difference for children in the "Let's Move" campaign and for the Military families as well..all while making us think about fashion and making us swoon for her beautiful jewelry and garments..I Love this CHICK !!!

WHAT CRYSTAL SAID!!! (and yes, I am screaming)

People are not necessarily "haters" if they suspect--or verify--that MO's shopping trip was a photo op coming up to an election year. There's a little breakdown in that leap of logic. (It's called a non sequitur.)

I suggest we don't argue with these fools. If the first lady walked on water- they would wonder what she had against water. They are not rationale thinkers. Why else would they come on this board to try to disparage her

.
.Everytime they see the Pres or the Flotus doing something many people would appreciate- they come out of their caves to try to change our minds. It must hurt them that with all the right wing BS they throw at the first fam the PRES is still running AHEAD of their moronic line up.

.
Gotta wonder why every week these people are trying to field some new candidate- not satisfied? Based on your comments on this blog, it looks like that is NOT the only thing you are not satisfied with.

.
As they say on the internet, u jelly?

The White House strategists send photographers everywhere to take pictures of Mrs Obama. The Target photos are just regular course of business. They take pictures when she is dressed in expensive clothing for a gala or just in track pants for gardening. They take pictures of her in all her worthwhile roles. They take pictures of her at all her official duties and sometimes just walking to church.
When they stop taking pictures or are too selective of when to take pictures, then we have a problem.

It's sad when Tea Partiers/Republicans take their issues out with Michelle's HUSBAND to a FASHION blog, get a life people.

FYI to all "photo-op" believers: Mrs. Obama has shopped at Target for years. She is not shopping at Target to "appear" to be like anyone; she simply wanted to go to Target.

Who remembers when Mrs. O was walking Bo on the White House grounds, when he was a puppie, and she was photographed wearing a simple tank top and plaid knee length shorts, and had her hair pulled back, because she thought the press pool had followed the President when he left the White House? Oh the uproar, because she was so "dressed down"!

I would like to request that Lifeboat's post be removed. I am doing so publicly, rather than privately, because of all the reasons we visit this blog, debating publicity strategy is not one of them. I think that if this post is allowed to stay, it will only encourage more political spam and this blog will be soon saturated with similar, baiting posts.

@Nyon and @Joss..hallelujer...... @Philly "I shall yell tripe whenever tripe is served!" Until the press produces a memo from the First lady's office inviting someone from the AP to cover this trip to Target or any other place the First Lady chooses to frequent. I will not believe this tabloid story. I can't comprehend the purpose of gratuitous or unsubstantiated comments that this was a photo-op..How absurd, I mean really....-______-

Let's see. Mrs. Obama, the SS, and her aide dressed down in order to be inconspicious. No announcements were made about the trip. She looks unhappy to be photographed. She has often talked about how much she would like to just go out and about without the media. But yet, some think this is staged--idiots!!!!

How uppidity people are! Instead of being proud that the first lady is a regular person, someone would have the nerve tp be ashamed that she shopped at Target. I say bravo! Wake up people there is something to be said for someone who can shop anywhere but chooses to shop where most can.

Let me help the masses out, although this photo "appears" up close, it was actually taken with a long lens. I know shocking, even in 2011. While I do want the First Lady to have her moments of privacy, I think a lot of people actually appreciate this small intrusion.

The First Lady in Target, sends a wonderfully frugal message. And it especially needed given this economic situation. I know she didn't mean for it to be a propaganda tool, but its one that I truly welcome.

This First Lady has been down to earth all her life. All this pomp and circumstance is for our benefits. Cause we've come to expect. That's why she's such a breath of fresh air to so many. Kudos Mrs. O!

TEN!
