A Champion for Girls in Science

Photo by Charles Dharapak / Getty Images
The First Lady hosted a White House event to encourage women and girls in science, technology, engineering and math careers today. On the style front, Mrs. O kept her look business casual in a ruffled white blouse and teal pencil skirt. A House of Lavande 1970s Dinicola necklace completed the look.

Appropriate look for the occasion. Well done. Not over the top.
Beautiful lady, inside and out.
What an absoutely fantastic skirt on Mrs. O.. Great length, great colour, great cut. Wow.
I love our First Lady. She is such a beautiful woman, she actually glows. God bless our President and First Lady, the First Family and the United States of America.
I really love the color of her skirt. She looks so stylish !
Professional chic! The color palette is lovely and the necklace really accentuates the outfit.
I am loving the new longer hair length on Mrs. O! It makes her look really fresh and youthful without even trying.
What a beautiful fit, just look at her fantastic figure and long legs.
I like the look of the longer skirt on Mrs O. It is more figure flattering than the shorter skirts. This one hits in just the right spot and looks very classy.
Scrumptious color - teal. The blouse really highlights her toned mid-section....I better keep working out.
On the hair front - I am lovin' it!
LOVE the skirt
Very nice! I love when her business side comes out in her wardrobe choices for these events.
I was at this event and pictures barely do Mrs. O justice. She is flawless!
I like the look a lot, but the fit of the blouse is really bothering me. I went back and forth on whether or not it was too small. Yes, the blouse has puckers and ruffles, but the pulling at the armscye and shoulders makes me think "too small." That said, I love the necklace w/ it.

Très chic and love the colors.
We have seen this blouse last Christmas:http://mrs-o.com/newdata/2010/11/27/o-christmas-tree.html
Love this look...she is absolutely stunning, beautiful and such an inspiration! God bless Mrs. Obama, God bless our President and the First Family, God bless America.
The skirt looks as if it could be Narciso Rodriguez, it's very similar to this dress http://www.theoutnet.com/product/211625
Perfect.
Love love LOVE that skirt! I want one in every color! Mrs O always looks great but I especially love the tailored pieces on her. She is totally rocking this look!
Very classy and stylish.
Coudn't be nicer!!
This outfit is so sharp!
Is it just me??? Or is our gorgeous Mrs. O looking younger?!!
Peace.
Absolutely beautiful, inside and out. Is it me or did she get weave added to her hair. Either way, it's lovely and I died when I first saw it....
Lovely skirt-great cut, fit, and length complemented by the necklace. I do not care for the way the blouse pulls across the bustline.
Wow, to all those who have seen her in person.....how fortunate you are!
Is that the Diane von Furstenberg teal skirt from the new fall line? Seen here: http://www.shopbop.com/elvina-skirt-diane-von-furstenberg/vp/v=1/845524441915638.htm?folderID=2534374302063359&fm=browse-brand-shopbysize-viewall&colorId=36752
Does anybody know?
It's not just you, Terri. Mrs O is looking younger and sexier. Looks like she's lost a couple pounds and gotten even more toned and fit.
I love the shoes! Neutral instead of color pop seems like a new direction.
Mrs. T - I think that blouse is Rachel Roy - saw it today at Bloomies - or one very similar!
I do want to second Kathie's comment. The neutral is a refreshing change of direction. Love it!
Blouse is too tight....next size up and she would look perfect! Like the longer hair again....
You know what I like? Besides everything? That smile!
I love this white blouse because it's truly feminine while looking professional. I love the gathers and ruffles. She looks fabulous as always.
My husband said, upon seeing the above photo, "Is that Michelle Obama? She is looking great!"
Michelle looks the same to me, because she always looked younger than her age. Only difference in her appearance is that she is growing her hair out to a length she had when Malia was little.
Great skirt; strange fit for the blouse but the colors and shoes look perfect.
The blouse is very pretty and the skirt is gorgeous. I just think that the blouse is too tight across her mid-section and bust line. The ill fit takes away from the lovely style. Besides, how comfortable is that?
simple and chic
she looks stunning
I hope this is the campaign look
New pic of Michelle shopping at Target: http://images.politico.com/global/blogs/0929_FLOTUS_AP_465.jpg

The skirt may be fine but she still has WIDE hips. The blouse is too tight and the cut only accentuates the hips even more. The color combination of the clothing is fine along with the necklace but the shoes don't work at all. Would be better with black shoes.
It is my opinion that Mrs. Obama signify the many essence of beauty and class.
Annette
I believe she has also worn this blouse for a "Let's Move - NHL Hockey" commercial that played last spring during the playoffs and now during the preseason games on Versus and the NHL channel.
She made it to Target!! I remember reading her staff wanted to make this happen. No photo op, just fan photos.

Did anybody see the photos on NBC Nightly News? Mrs. O and TBG went shopping at Target today!
I really do like the out fit, but so many of her clothes are too tight, i.e., both the skirt and blouse. I was told "if it puckers up you better size up".
my horoscope suggested that I be nice today, even when I don't understand or agree with a commnet, so I'm going to push hard to be kind to Marty 78.
@Marty78 .... really ?
good weekend everyone !!
@groovy Couldn't miss TBG. He looked cute in his cap and tea shirt trying to look inconspicuous like he is buying something. Funny!
For the anti-Obama people the First Lady just can't win. If she wears designer duds it's a problem. People she is a First Lady! If she is shown in Target it's a problem - she is trying to "act" like a regular person. I love Mrs. Obama because she ignores the naysayers and does her thing.
Is this the skirt that Mrs. Obama is wearing? I saw these at Nordstrom the other day and they are beautiful!
