A Dash of Sparkle

The President and First Lady attended the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute’s 34th Annual Awards Gala at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC this evening. For the event, Mrs. O debuted a fabulous strapless cocktail dress by Chris Benz. House of Lavande vintage Kenneth Jay Lane drop earrings completed the look. Love!

Beautiful dress! Refreshing new look and it shows off her figure.
Mrs. O is lookin' good! Her body is on point! Oh, I love the earrings too.
Love it Love it Love it!!!! Nice to see her very often and looking fabulous again. I must admit, I was actually missing her for a couple of weeks. Now shes back and I LOVE IT!!!
Phiilicia, I missed her too, but I think she needed some rest, plus the girls were out of school and she probably wanted to spend some time with them before they go back to school. But she is back, better than ever and I am loving it. I think FLOTUS is just great and she looks worth a million bucks in that dress.
VA VA VOOM From head to toe FLOTUS looks FANTASTIC! Oh yeah! POTUS looks good too! Look at that smile!
Ok so I know I say, "I Love it" it alot when it comes to Mrs. O, but I really do LOOOOOVE IT!!! I LOVE the dress, I LOVE the hairstyle, I LOVE the earrings, I LOVE the man she is married to, and I LOVE the way he looks at her (beautiful pic on theobamadiary.com). I really do love it! Sorry, I can't think of a more a eloquent way to express myself.
Has anyone identified this dress? The colors are amazing...reminds me of a peacock feather.
Nice dress, but is it not a bit too long?
@ Nyon, no need for apologies......I'm right there with you. I LOVE this, them, him and especially her! Just look at our Michelle!
What Nyon and Charlene in Detroit said!!!!!!!!!
Those earrings make the entire outfit!
Ditto all of the above! So glad she's back in public appearance mode and looking so great. And I too love our First Family@
wow wow this dress is beautiful it looks gorgeos on her its most beautiful dress i have ever seen this whole outfit looks fabulous on her wow wow its all i have to say about this dress
Another stellar evening appearance!! They are both absolutely RADIANT. Would so love to see detail of those earrings.
Thank you, Mrs. T. I hope you're enjoying the transition into Fall.
Gorgeous!
I think I would have brought the hem up just a smidge. But, otherwise, a stellar look!
I've been trying to ignore the evidence, but I can't any more: the president is going gray really quickly.
I love this dress too--very much!
About the length: No, it is not too long, especially if there is the possibility that one may be required to sit down in this style on a stage or in any situation where one will be photographed sitting down. Remember some of our complaints about the way some outfits appear when Mrs. Obama is sitting and some of us think that she is showing too much skin?
I love this dress--the color, the sparkles, the length and the way SHE looks in the dress.
Ohh I'm in heaven! They are both so gorgeous! I just love our Michelle's jewellery collection, always on point:-) Btw, had the hem length been any shorter, I can wager the "appropriate police" would already be on FLOTUS like mosquitoes. LOL
WOWZA! for both of them. The earrings she is wearing looks like we have seen them recently....yes, no, maybe? The pattern/texture of the dress is wonderful...
@Christina I agree with you on the President's gray:)
I agree with NYON and think I will have work on lliking her hair!
They are a gorgeous couple.
Hello everyone
I have been visiting this blog for awhile but have never posted.I love this outfit and have noticed that the First Lady is wearing some awesome earrings of late.The color and fit of the dress is beautiful.
@Bernard Marr, Welcome.
This is one gorgeous look! Mrs. O looks fierce.
Yes, Christina, I have been noticing the gray hair as well. With his job, it's no wonder.
@CID, ;-)
Christina, yep our President is gray and I must say it has made him sexier. Ooops, is it alright for me to say that? I don't want the "appropriate police" to lock me up. LOL ;-)
I think turning gray is just something that happens when you're the Commander in Chief. It seems that everyone other than Ronald Regan grayed during their term(s) in office. President Obama is graying fabulously in my humble opinion. POTUS and FLOTUS are a very striking couple!
@Nyon - sexier! you better believe it! Oh, and Mrs. O looks lovely
STUNNING !
This is a stunning dress. The length is very appropriate for a woman of her stature. She is tall so she carry off this length and look so classy but at the same time so stunning. If the dress were shorter I must admit it would have look to "young" on her. This is the look for her simple and elegant. The fabric is lush but the style simple. Cheers for the designer.
@Nyon - I enjoy your posts...:)
Her body looks great, so sexy and on point. The president is a lucky man and hats off to her for all the hardwork she must be putting in at the gym. Wish I had her willpower.
Great dress but I would have preferred some peep-toe shoes. I hate the way her shoes look on her right foot. (our left). There is this big gap on the side that makes the shoes appear worn out. Never noticed how grey the president was getting till you all pointed it out. I never really look at him.
Mrs. Obama is so very lovely.
President Obama always looks happiest, when he is with her.
Peace.
I actually gasped when I saw the dress! What beautiful colors on Mrs. Obama! I am convinced that she could make anything and look wonderful. How many times has she proven that with her off-the-rack selections? What taste she has! I also love her hair! It seems that she's been wearing that style most of the summer. It's just beautiful! So elegant yet appropriate for any time of day or event.
It makes me ill when I think that our wonderful First Couple is so vilified. What have we as a society come to when such brilliant, accomplished, and altruistic persons are exposed daily to terrible vitriol? Life is not fair. God bless them both!
@Nyon:
He may be gray, but he is always looking his best standing next to her. :)
I love this green, by the way. I love the way it looks next to her skin.
It's hard for Michelle to get everyone to like her hem lengths. If she goes too short people say it's inappropriate, if she goes too long people say it's dowdy. But everyone's idea of what is "too short" or "too long" is different. I think this looks quite nice.
Wow, two back-to-back ensembles. I really like the colors in this dress. Mrs O's earrings are fantastic. And her shoulders...does she use a personal trainer?
It's my observation that every President ages too quickly but each First Lady looks better each year...... especially the two-term ones. :o)
A few weeks ago I heard someone say stress causes increased cortisol in the body, and increased cortisol leads to...grey hair! No wonder President Obama and his predecessors turned grey at such a fast rate.
Our Michelle looks stunning from head to feet. The dress, those earrings...I love it all!
I love this ensemble except the shoes. Sometimes I want her to put on a pump with her dresses, but I know she loves her kitten heels.
Love, love love
@ Adear, THANKS!! I like yours as well. Very positive :-)
@Christina, WHAT YOU SAID!!!!
She looks just lovely! Great color on her!
they always look so great together... I love the new hairstyle on Mrs. O.
The color-gorgeous!
The earrings-the best part of the entire ensemble!
The bottom of the dress overbalances the top a bit.
Body Beautiful. If it were a crime to look this good nearing 50, Mrs. O would be serving consecutive life sentences beneath the prison cell.
@McKinley......funny! But so very true!:)
