A Taste of Summer

Today the First Lady delivered the keynote address to the Women’s Leadership Forum National Issues Conference, in Washington.  This event is hosted by the Democratic National Convention and Obama for America, and brings together women leaders from across the country, in order to focus on the challenges America faces.

Mrs Obama is wearing a fresh, summery, white and creamy yellow sleeveless dress in what looks to be an enlarged floral print, with gathering at the waistline and folds to the skirt.  All hints as to the designer gratefully received.  Actually, don't bother hinting, just TELL me!

Update:  Many thanks to readers LJ and Hilary who correctly identified this as Rachel Roy, first worn on the 15th July 2010 here.  I KNEW we'd seen it before, and I thought it was Rachel Roy, but I wasn't taking any chances till I knew for sure.  You can see the headline if I messed it up can't you?  "Limey amateur ruins world famous style blog."  Mhm.  Not on my watch...

I think this is the same dress Mrs-0 wore for the Affordable Care Act at George Washington University Hospital July 14, 2010 in Washington, DC.

Reminds me a lot of the Tracy Reese dress she wore at the Easter egg roll. She looks beautiful.

Such a pretty summer frock, the shoes are a perfect match!

Love it! So spring-like. I really like the way it fits around the bodice and waist. Her shoes are very cool too!

So glad you're having the opportunity to put up more posts, Posh Tater. Keep 'em coming! Mrs. O does look fresh and lovely, and I, too, like the cut and fit of the dress.

I saw this on the Obama Diary site and was hoping you'd post it! No idea who the designer is, but I really like the fit and color of the dress. Shoes are great, too. Very Spring!

Oh!! Look at the the July 15, 2011 post. Is it the same dress? Rachael Roy?

I looooove the first lady in this dress. The cut and color really accentuate her great physique. And, is it just me, or does anyone else get just as excited when the first lady repeats an outfit? For some reason, enjoying her fashion the second (or third) time around, is just as exciting as seeing it the first time.

I really like this dress! Gorgeous as usual!

I agree, Marcus -- seeing the outfits repeated is always great. In this case, we see a much better look at the dress as a whole, and there are always new details and new Mrs. O style to appreciate!

I'm another fan of repeats. I think they make more women identify with Mrs. O, which will be important as we get into the re-election year. And why should gorgeous duds like this get doomed to the closet after just one wearing?

Thanks for filling in, Posh! You are doing an awesome job!

I love the details in this dress, the cinching is flattering on all figures. Please, don't get me started about the shoes. I'm a sucker for a plain pump and apparently so is our Michelle. This look is as much a winner today as it was the last time that she wore it!
Great job Posh!

I just found this interview with Rachel Roy! Done just after Mrs O wore Roy's wonderful silver grey shift dress to the State of the Union address.

Scroll down a bit, past the Dorothy Height piece and there's a great interview there with Roy.

Enjoy!

Dress and shoes, perfect! Must add yellow to my wardrobe.

Friday, May 20, 2011 at 3:46 PM | Unregistered CommenterMrs 2S

Everything about this dress is perfect--the pattern, the cut, the fit, the way the fabric is draped, the length--just everything! And shoes shoes are KILLING me! Most women might have chosen a plain white our cream, but not our FLOTUS!

Friday, May 20, 2011 at 4:15 PM | Unregistered CommenterMikey

These are my FAVOURITE shoes on the FLOTUS. I remember seeing them on the European trip and WANTING THEM!!!!
