Next Stop: Denver

What a busy day for Mrs. O and Dr. B. The ladies wrapped up their day in Denver, CO with an event to honor military families at Coors Field. Jessica Simpson joined to perform "God Bless America."

Mrs. O kept things casual in a cropped Thakoon jacket and Prova scarf. Dr. B looked equally chic in a ruffled camel jacket with slim pants and tall boots.

Looking good while doing good!!! yeah to our powerful ladies!

I had no idea that Jessica Simpson was still pretending to sing. Look at Dr. Biden as she wonders how many versus are left in the song. And, I believe our First Lady is contemplating on just pushing JS off the stage.

Both Ladies look great and Dr. BIden is kickin' in those boots.

@ Jestina (London, England) Brilliant!

Mrs. O and Dr. B are indeed Fashion Icons. I love how they are able to wear a multitude of styles and look great. From conservative, to chic and sassy, from bare arms to bare knees; these ladies are changing the FLOTUS and SLOTUS paradigms. And as with all human beings, there may be a time or so when they don’t hit it out of the park; those times are few and far between. They inspire me, they keep me coming back to this site.

Mrs. O, Dr. B….Thank you for showing your care and love to our military and to their families. Thank you for representing America as two of our most beautiful, intelligent, and strong women. May you stay forever young and keep rocking those clothes!

Peace.

Ok...I am sorry to say nothing moves me here about Mrs. O's look. I know she has worn this jacket already, but did the sleeves shrink? Oh well everyone can have an off day. I am hoping she will return to her snazzy self soon....

I like Mrs. O's look here. The pants say preppy, while the shirt and jacket say bohemian and modern. I don't think Mrs O or Mrs. B appreciated Jessica Simpson's singing at all! Mrs. Biden's face says "Oh God this is horrible" while Mrs. Obama's face says "Bless your heart. You are trying your hardest to sing, even though you aren't very good at it."

Wow just the dynamics of this photo are interesting: Two classy ladies politely having to listen to none other than Jessica Simpson most likely murdering God Bless America. Reminds me of what Aguiliera looked like while butchering the National Anthem. You have Jill looking like "Wow can we get this over with" and Michelle with a really tight smile on her face, probably thinking the same thing. Then you have a camera angle which causes Michelle to look like an absolute giant compared to the other 2 ladies. It's amazing what a 1-second camera shot can capture at a certain point in time.
Anyway, Michelle & Jill look great, but I don't care for Jill's boots-they'd look better without that flap covering the kneecap.

LOL because Mrs. O does look like a GIANT, LOL! Oh yeah, Mrs B. can't wait for Jessica S. to be done xD

I don't knw if it is the camera or the lens, but Mrs. O looks horribly wide on the top :( Maybe it is just the "wool" sweater.

I like Mrs. B's outfit. Her boots are too high, but she is pretty petite, so that must be it.

This is just a terrible situation. We have our first ladies listening to (of all people) Jessica Simpson, while wearing some very odd looking outfits perhaps chosen to fit in with Ms. Simpson, which is really skewed. There are so many things wrong with this picture I cannot even begin to explain. The oversized shawl collar, the big scarf, the lack of color, the frumpy pants on Mrs. O do not do her justice. Dr. Biden with the nutty boots, tight pants, and sallow camel color are depressing. They both have looks of misery on their faces, as though trapped. Who scheduled this boondoggle?

Of all the pictures of this event, this is one of the worst. Yes, it shows the outfits of both ladies, but it's not very flattering. I know, Mrs. T, that you have to go with what you are given, but I suggest viewers log onto The Obama Diaries to see better pics. That said, both ladies look perfect for the occasion, casual, but warm.

Sorry, they both look ridiculous.

SLOTUS looks fantastic. FLOTUS not so great. Jessica terrible.

Somebody should tell Jessica Simpson that horizontal stripes are a no no.

Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 9:40 PM | Unregistered CommenterKatie

I guess it's true that 15 people can see the exact same picture and each one have a TOTALLY different opinion of said picture. I see three women dressed casually while trying to stay warm in a semi-heated stadium on a very cold day in Denver. I don't see a face that suggests disdain or disapproval of anyone on stage. I've seen several pics of this event as well as footage from the evening news and they looked like they were having a ball. Jessica with SLOTUS and FLOTUS were cracking each other up and interacting with the children. The military families were soooo appreciative and the cause could not be more worthwhile.

On a fashion front, they looked fine. I love that shawl collar on the boucle wool sweater that our Michelle is wearing. And how fierce is our Jill in over-the-knee boots? Have mercy, I only aspire to look so good when I'm her age. As for Jessica Simpson, I think she's never looked better. As she's said, she's lost some weight (which she says has made her happy) and she's more at peace and comfortable in her own skin now that she's healthy. Wow, as women, we can be so incredibly hard on our fellow sisters. I don't understand it. And we're the fairer sex????? Hmmmm!

Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 9:40 PM | Registered CommenterCharlene in Detroit

I think some of you are missing the point and the rest are being downright cruel and mean towards Jessica Simpson. This is an event honouring military families, people that give up a lot and in some cases their lives to keep America safe. Can we all try to be a bit nice, it really isn't that hard.

On a fashion front, I like FLOTUS' scarf, I tried doing the same and ended up looking like the lone ranger, I don't know how she manages to pull it off and look so classy !!! Anyway, all three ladies look gorgeous although Dr Biden's fierce boots get two thumbs up from me.

Hmmm....I think we all need to bare in mind that some of us here did not see any additional videos or more flattering photos of this event. Therefore if you are just opening up this site and seeing the photos for the first time, I think it is only logical to have some comments that come across as "negative"

Thank being said, maybe I will now go look at additional photos...

Friday, April 15, 2011 at 9:14 AM | Unregistered CommenterAdear

I think there's been some overreaction to this photo ... I think both women look lovely. I also think we should be more respectful of Jessica Simpson. I personally hate that people use blogs to write venomous things about people they don't know ... for me, that sentiment applies to Mrs. O or anyone else.

In terms of photos, there is a balance. I always try to find photos that are 1. flattering and 2. show the full ensemble. I also need to be economical with my choices, as I pay for photos, which I don't believe is the case on other blogs.

That said, would love to know which image is thought to be better as I do listen to your feedback.

@ Mrs.T.

As far as the images and which shows fashion the best - I would vote for the image you posted. It clearly shows what both women are wearing and also provides a great image of the venue.

Both women are politely waiting for the singer to finish and I don't believe that Mrs. O had any intentions of pushing JS off stage. Although, I still get a little chuckle when I imagine it.

'My' Ladies are casual chic!
Ms. Simpson's outfit is lovely as well.
All-in-all, the outfits are appropriate for the event.

Friday, April 15, 2011 at 2:04 PM | Unregistered CommenterSoccerNana

The setting is clearly informal, all three ladies are well matched, wearing a casual, comfortable look that is well-suited to the occasion. Jessica is pretty, working hard and doing something for the troops, so my applause to her. Mrs O's ensemble is not bad, but not very flattering on her, especially the pants. I like Mrs Biden's jacket, it's very flattering on her, and the pants too. Not so much the boots, they are a bit too high.

Thanks for weighing in Mrs. T.
Clearly, you select the best photos you can.
There are plenty of other forums where folks can bash anyone they 'd like...why they choose to do it here is baffling.

Friday, April 15, 2011 at 2:29 PM | Unregistered CommenterAttyGirl

I think it is wonderful that Mrs O and Mrs B understood that being dressed appropriately to play with children was the important consideration for this event. Just take a look at theobamadiary.com photos Mrs T has added!
As for Jessica Simpson singing, I saw a brief interview in which she spoke of her surprise (she thought it was a prank call!) when asked by Mrs O. (staff?)to perform for this occasion - she was chosen to do this. We should be careful judging the meaning of facial expressions - Mrs O and Mrs B were nearing the end of a couple of very long days, the night was wet and cold - they may momentarily have lapsed into tired mode.

@ Mrs. T - Well Said! And thanks for all you do.

Is there any way we could help defray the cost of the pics?

I do like theobamadiary pic better. I always love seeing pics of Mrs. O and Dr. B together…however, theobamadiary pic shows a youthful and energetic Mrs. O doing one of the many things she does well…interacting with children.

Peace,

Hi Mrs. T -

I like the photo of FLOTUS, SLOTUS, and the Rockies mascot. I agree with what you wrote - and I would say that Jessica Simpson is probably donating her time to be a part of this event. So good for her and her efforts to be supportive.

Friday, April 15, 2011 at 4:02 PM | Registered CommenterBevi

Mrs. T, I understand that you must be economical with your choices and I apologize if I sounded overly critical. I much prefer the shot of Mrs. Obama and Dr. Biden in the last picture of the sequence posted in the Obama Diaries. It's the one with the mascot and Mrs O is holding the microphone. We can still see both ladies' outfits and they both look relaxed.

Friday, April 15, 2011 at 4:06 PM | Unregistered CommenterPinda

You chose the right photo, Mrs. T. It showed the complete outfits and didn't send us all searching to look for which shoes/boots/pants they were wearing. Isn't Mr's O's scarf the one we all admired so much when she was in Indonesia and had to cover herself up? Much better here - LOL!

Friday, April 15, 2011 at 6:23 PM | Unregistered Commentercanyongal

@ytrapaet jane....ok you dont like Mrs. O hair style ok, ok. Keep in mind that her hair may not be like yours.
Heavy daily styling is hard on African American hair. At times the hair needs a "rest" from heat, products, etc. that could be the reason its pulled back from time to time....just providing another outlook.

Really like both outfits. Check for both jackets and one for Mrs. O's pants.
