Mom-in-Chief Chic

Even a parent-teacher conference brings some fashion excitement! Yesterday, Mrs. O was spotted returning from a parent-teacher conference at Sidwell Friends school carrying a teal leather Ribbon tote by Reed Krakoff. Tres chic.

A very nice look for a Parent conference. Love those blue flats!
Char
Any ideas about the shoes?
They are gorgeous!!! So stylish!!
Succeding in style for school!!! Love it!
I agree Char, those blue flats make the outfit pop. I just love the way that she is not afraid to experiment with colours. The jacket looks similar to the Azzedine jacket that she wore in Strasbourg. All in all, this is a very fresh look. I like very much. Now I'm off to research that bag.
I love this look-the bag and shoes make it this outfit.
Cute! The top part of her ensemble (including the tote) says fall-ish; the adorable peacock or turquoise blue ballet flats say Easter-egg spring! A good transitional look. The tote is sold out in the teal color; perhaps it will be back for fall (I hope!). Teal will be big this fall. I have a conference in about a month and plan to adapt this look with khaki cotton ankle pants and a camel colored tote with khaki jacket.
It is the Alaia jacket. She has worn it several times. It looks better without the white Big Bow blouse she wore under it for her walkabout with Carla Bruni-Sarkozy.
Extremely stylish and appropriate.
i'm loving the Jacket and the white blouse. very appropriate for a PTA meeting.
lovely, lovely look
I like the way MO wears different shades of the same color at the same time. She doesn't get hung up on a match, but goes with the family of color. Here she has teal worn with a bright kind of Wedgewood blue.
The first time I noticed her doing this was at the Inaguration when her gloves ( J. Crew) and shoes (J. Choo) were both green, but not a match. She does this often, and it's kind of bold. Very un-First Ladyish, in a good way.
I'm betting Oscar does not approve. And who cares?
@ Operafanatic, I whole-heartedly agree! I love that our Michelle does not go for that whole "matchy matchy" concept when dressing. When you use colors within the same family to accentuate an outfit it adds interest as well as texture. When it's done right it really pulls a plain or understated outfit together. I like how she's done that here. I know if my mom came to parent/teacher conference looking like this, I'd be proud!
Now onto that bag......GORGEOUS!
I'm with "operafanatic" and "Charlene in Detroit" 150% on this one! ...I love colors. Too bad a man can't utilize spectrums of color--beyond a fashion runway or a summer beach party--and be taken "seriously." Oh well, like life, fashion just isn't fair. *chuckle*
