Mrs. O and Walmart

Images by Cliff Owen / AP Images

It's back to work after a glam-filled evening for Mrs.O. Walmart President and CEO Bill Simon announced today that Wal-Mart would make a comprehensive effort to provide healthier and more affordable food choices to customers. The First Lady was on hand to support the effort, declaring, "It's a victory for parents. It's a victory for families, but most of all, it's a victory for our children." Walmart has said that the First Lady's "Let's Move" initiative was catalyst for the new commitment.

For the speaking affair, Mrs. O wore a grey tweed, collared sheath dress, paired with knee-high brown suede boots. A new wavy hairstyle completed the look.

Update: This is a big fashion week for Mrs. O! The First Lady wears a Marc Jacobs Trompe l'Oeil Double Face Mélange Wool dress from the Marc Jacobs Fall 2010 collection, seen here. Mrs. O completed the look with Kara Ross Omega Earrings.

I love this sheath dress FLOTUS is wearing. Yes, Mrs. Obama have reached her pedestal as one of the best dress First Lady in our modern history. I love the compliments I received when I duplicate one of her looks!

Love this new look for her hair. She looks so lovely in her neutral palette standing in front of the produce. Great looking dress and boots. Wow! She is full of energy... must be her diet!!

Me likey! She is copying me! I've just finished a two week run of wearing my hair wavy! Love the outfit!

Love the new hair! Is she channeling a 1960's Jackie pageboy?

I am glad the Mrs O looks glamorous this week. I t was not time for fashion, but I did not care for her ensemble during the Tuscon memorial. It was too business casual my taste, but it was still a nice outfit.

I love her look today. Funny - I was scrolling, and I was like "HEY!!!..there's a big ol' WALMART AD - YUCK!" ... then I saw Mrs. O. (sheepish grin)

I love her look - and I don't think of Jackie O. Her haircut is a classic bob - I know I've worn one off and on since HS. Jackie O is before my time though, ROFL ... so I dont' think of her when I see Mrs. Obama. I just think of Mrs. O.

Oh WOWZA! A 10 on the Glamor-Meter! LOVIN' the HAIR

Thanks so much for the link - I LOVE the people's expressions when they realize Mrs Obama is in there!

This is a home run. Love the boots, hair and the dress.

I love the look, and love the new hair! But I'm disappointed about the Wal-Mart factor. This conglomerate has run small business America out of business. I think that Mrs. O could have done a lot better making friends with the Independent Grocers Association.

Perfecto!

This outfit is a 10! I love that FLOTUS is wearing a hairpiece to rest her natural hair after last night and I love the fact that the First Lady still refuses to wear nylons and opts for over the knee boots. I usually don't like over the knee boots since they remind me of ladies of the night, a la Julia Roberts in "Pretty Woman," but on Michelle they look modest and comfortable.

Raw video of her greeting visitors in the Blue Room with Bo in this outfit this morning

Mrs. O looks exactly like what she is trying to promote--healthy, active, vigorous, and at her proper weight--not overly thin like some of our previous first ladies in modern times--a great example for young women and mothers who look up to and try to copy her.

I like everything about this outfit. The dress fits perfectly; lovely grey color, too. The boots are sleek and a good height. And I really like her hair wavy.

There's a bit at 31.00 minutes where a lovely woman isn't sure if bo is real he's keeping SO still, hilarious!

Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 7:52 PM | Registered CommenterPosh Tater

Thanks for the heads up on the video, Sharon. She looks fantastic, and does this kind of thing perfectly.

Posh - you may not have caught it, but about 5 minutes or so into it there is a woman who is a dead ringer for you (or at least your pictures). I nearly had a heart attack, screaming "OMG, it's Posh!" Except I don't think even you could have pulled off being that calm in the midst of a surprise like that was for everyone.

I love her! Love the curls!

Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 8:05 PM | Unregistered CommenterAshley Williams

Classic. I would have loved the look better with pumps, but this works for me. Also, I don't believe this is a hairpiece, although she may or may not have worn one in the past (if so, more power to her). I think she just had her hair teased in the updo last night (thus the volume) and simply wore it down today. Then again, I may be wrong.

But Indeed loving today's look. She looks so much better when she lets her simple understated elegance shine through.

She looks really pretty in this outfit. Her hair looks very feminine and is a softer look for her with he curls. Go FLOTUS.

The boots..... who designed the boots??? The First Lady looks absolutely beautiful as usual...love her dress but I'm dying for the boots! (smile)!

Mrs.O looks fab as always and I think it's good to partner with Walmart. Most people in urban and poor areas go to walmart more than any other store. I champion anything that will bring healthier food into these communicaties! great job Mrs. O. Thank you Mrs. T for bringing the info and pictures

Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 10:41 PM | Unregistered CommenterNicole

Too damn hot for words! The first lady's outfit is classic sista-girl chic. Uptown flavor and downtown style. And those boots were made for walkin'!

I swear Mrs. O is living my life. LOL! Gorgeous! Love her and our fab Pres!

Marcus Perry, have I told you how much I LOVE you! I look forward to reading your comments.

Hey IVA, long time no see (read?) LOL! I read what you said on the other thread, Thanks!

I watched the entire video. I love when Mrs. O does this. People are so surprised. Did you see the girl who was so focused on her map that she didn't even realize Mrs. O was standing there.

Mrs. O looks stunning today and that dress is fitting her to the T! Great minds think alike because I'm getting my hair styled in a curly bob tomorrow :-)

Her hair is SPECTACULAR. I absolutely love it!!! The dress is phenomenal and whew, that figure! Would have preferred heels to the boots, but hey, that's her and this is me.

Love love love love love love looooove the hair. Love it !! Absolute knock out.

I love the dress, but not with the boots! Simple pumps would have looked so much better.

Friday, January 21, 2011 at 5:07 AM | Unregistered CommenterChristen

Glamolicious !! Yes, yes, yes!!! To the hair, shoes and dress.

Friday, January 21, 2011 at 7:11 AM | Unregistered Commentermarcelle

I love this look. It is powerful yet sexy. I think partnering with Walmart is smart, sometimes you have to affect change where people are, not where you would want them to be. 140 million people shop at Walmart weekly, the impact could be huge.

Friday, January 21, 2011 at 8:37 AM | Unregistered CommenterToni

I love Mrs.O but I'd have been more impressed if she had found a way to wear something from WalMart to show that you don't have to spend mega-bucks to look good. I bet she could have done it!

Friday, January 21, 2011 at 9:23 AM | Unregistered CommenterJudy

To those who insist on politicizing this website ... WalMart ran business out of the US under other Presidents' policies, not the Obama administration. WalMart admitted her program was the influence for their decisions. Maybe other Obama administration programs will influence WalMart, too??? That said, let's focus on Mrs. O, ok? She is gorgeous in this dress with the brown boots! Hot! hot! hot! Didn't know I needed brown suede knee-hi boots 'til just now. I'm lovin' it!

WOW... she looks great !

Once again the hair and makeup are terrific - I'm glad she's letting her locks grow - love the curl.

Dress and boots are so sexy and cool.

What a great look for our FABULOUS FIRST LADY

My day would not be complete without looking at your website to see Mrs. Obama's fashion. I basically have adopted her style: belts, scarf, bracelets, boots, shoes, jackets, earrings and dress colors. My husband likes my fashion style. Thank you for having this website.

Friday, January 21, 2011 at 11:52 AM | Unregistered CommenterMorena

I think that those curls are left over from the night before and we won't be seeing them for very long. She is a busy woman, it takes times to maintain a do like that everyday. I like it though.

Thumper at 7:17 said everything I tried to translate in English ! I quote him/her in my post:

"Mrs. O looks exactly like what she is trying to promote--healthy, active, vigorous, and at her proper weight--not overly thin like some of our previous first ladies in modern times--a great example for young women and mothers who look up to and try to copy her."

I don't like the idea of her partnering with Walmart, because I don't like the company being non-union, and other things. FLOTUS flew to Chicago today to shoot an episode of "Oprah," which will air on January 27. Also, I read Oscar De La Renta's comments about FLOTUS Chinese State Dinner dress, and that guy really has issues that FLOTUS has yet to wear any of his clothes, which she likely will never wear his clothes. It's apparent that the guy feels that she should be wearing his gowns, since Laura, and Hillary wore his clothes.
