Mrs. O and Walmart

Images by Cliff Owen / AP Images

It's back to work after a glam-filled evening for Mrs.O. Walmart President and CEO Bill Simon announced today that Wal-Mart would make a comprehensive effort to provide healthier and more affordable food choices to customers. The First Lady was on hand to support the effort, declaring, "It's a victory for parents. It's a victory for families, but most of all, it's a victory for our children." Walmart has said that the First Lady's "Let's Move" initiative was catalyst for the new commitment.

For the speaking affair, Mrs. O wore a grey tweed, collared sheath dress, paired with knee-high brown suede boots. A new wavy hairstyle completed the look.

Update: This is a big fashion week for Mrs. O! The First Lady wears a Marc Jacobs Trompe l'Oeil Double Face Mélange Wool dress from the Marc Jacobs Fall 2010 collection, seen here. Mrs. O completed the look with Kara Ross Omega Earrings.

Pretty hair!

@Judy

"I love Mrs.O but I'd have been more impressed if she had found a way to wear something from WalMart to show that you don't have to spend mega-bucks to look good. I bet she could have done it!"

Ohmigod. That would have been 100 percent AWESOME. Can you imagine the stampede to Wal-Mart stores if she had came out rocking something from "Old Glory," or whatever their in-house brand is? (Faded Glory, something like that) It would be insanely hilarious.

I'm not feeling a sleeveless dress and over the knee boots--one says warm weather to me while the other says cold...

How does she wear sleeveless in the winter time?

I've been away for a long time -- partly busy, partly uninterested in the bickering that can take place here sometimes. But always always always impressed with Mrs. T's commitment to this endeavor, so I've kept the feed on my iPhone. What made me come back? I realized that after the SOTU I missed seeing the pictures posted by Mrs. T and her wonderful details about Mrs. Obama's outfits. Also, although I was at the event, met Mrs. Obama -- spoke with her and got my picture taken with her by the White House photographer, I didn't know who she was wearing. What I do know is that, like every other time I've had the great fortunate to meet her and speak with her, she is (1) extremely gracious and friendly and (2) a very beautiful woman with the most flawless skin ever. Now, you may ask (or maybe not or even care), why was I there? Because I work for Walmart. I'm proud of my company and this initiative, and thrilled that Mrs. Obama supports it. I won't bother with responding to the inaccurate comments about my company but I will direct you to www.walmartstores.com so that you can get your facts straight before you speak...ummm, write/post. Meanwhile, I thought this was a fashion blog dedicated to commenting on Mrs. Obama's fashion style. Maybe some should get back to doing that. No? So I will turn the page and get back to that myself: she looked SMASHING!!!!

@Teresa: I thought about your question too but then I realized that when you have a nice wool coat along with door-to-door car service, and where you're going is nice and toasty inside, you can go sleeveless. I wore a knit two-piece with a turtle neck -- all black because I wanted to look a little slimmer next to her in my photo! LOL! My two-piece was a pant and cardigan. The cardigan has beading around the neckline and fastens at the top only. I wore the cardigan to pay homage to Mrs. Obama and then she didn't wear one. I was out of step with our fabulous First Lady! *sigh* @Mia Monte: There must be an awful lot of companies you dislike for not being union. Where on earth do you buy your clothes?! I'm just asking... BUT, I digress. It's about FASHION!!! (My apologies, Mrs. T. I really do respect your work!)

@Christina, "Old Glory", girl that's hilarious! Imagine that stampede indeed!

Our Michelle looks superb in the figure flattering dress. I'm a frenzied fanatic for a classy over-the-knee boot and this one fits the bill. Her hair and make-up is on point and complete this look. Great job!
