Gold and Glitz

Image by Tim Sloan / Getty Images

The president and first lady attended the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute's 33rd Annual Awards Gala at the Washington Convention Center this evening. For the event, Mrs. O wore a bronze-gold cocktail dress, accessorized with bejeweled circular earrings and gold open-toe heels. Fabulous!

Update: Mrs. O wore a bronze sequin dress by Moschino!

Shimmery and Sexy. Looks like a hot date.

Bronze is my new favorite fall color! LOVE the earrings with this look. Very 60's mod, even the hairstyle. If she'd worn frosted lipstick and go-go boots...................JK!! Seriously, I love this look on her. She's so magnetic. I look at what she's wearing and after about 4 times I go, "Oh yeah....there's the President! She is a rock star in this picture! Look how excited people are to meet her!

Lordy, lordy, LORD!! Both are smokin' HOT! (No disrespect.)

I feel so lucky and blessed to have lived to see such an amazing woman become the First Lady. She is simply sensational and has an amazing figure. Everytime I make excuses for not going to the gym (working late, hungry, the weather's too cold, rather drink wine, rather watch t.v) it takes a split second of looking at pictures like these to kick start my motivation.

I'm looking for a purse in a dark metallic like that. It seems like metallics are very in, this season.

She is one hot mama! I love this dress!

Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 11:16 AM | Registered CommenterAshley Williams

My my is she toned!!! Looks like bronze was her theme color to the hispanic activities; she also wore a bronze and navy blue shirtwaister recently. Commenters here mentioned her bronze open toe shoes then, hmm looks like she once again outwitted them and had them lined up for this event instead! Our Michelle, always a star at shopping her wardrobe!! I love her earrings too!!

Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 12:23 PM | Registered CommenterJoss

Wow! That's one hot dress! People magazine will probably put her on the cover as Sexiest First Lady!

Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 12:25 PM | Registered Commenterann#1

HOT, HOT, HOT!!!!

Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 12:36 PM | Registered CommenterNyon

Ab-so-freakin-loutely lovely!

Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 3:06 PM | Unregistered Commenterfoo

Does the dress have an asymmetrical zipper in the back? In one photo I saw the zipper was slanted in a sort of irregular way. Is that a style detail?

Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 4:12 PM | Unregistered CommenterAnnona

Absolutely picture perfect!

Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 4:51 PM | Unregistered CommenterAmy

The President & the First Lady look great. It's hard to believe that some people don't like them. For me, they are both the breath of fresh air that this world needed precisely at this moment.

Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 5:47 PM | Registered CommenterStrong Foru

We've seen those heels before - love them!

Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 6:38 PM | Unregistered CommenterGeorgia

Annona, I thought the same thing. Wasn't too sure about the back when I saw it. It would be unlike Moschino NOT to do something playful so we probably saw it correctly. From the front, though......loving it. I keep looking at that second picture. It's the same connection and pull the late Princess Diana had with crowds. She is the People's FLOTUS.

Really chic and sexy. She is so darn pretty. I wonder what the fabric is? Any thoughts?

Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 7:18 PM | Unregistered CommenterSusan

Great looking couple! Love them both!

Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 8:15 PM | Unregistered CommenterSilver Pearls

YAWZA!

This is like the icing on the cake after a week of fabulous-ness. I swear, I never tire of seeing the Obamas all dressed up and holding hands, they make such a handsome couple! Gosh, and their smiles are so full of life and genuine! Sometimes the emotions make me feel like it's the Inauguration all over again. But, about this dazzling dress on Mrs.O, it fits well in all the right places - so divine...

Cheers!

This dress is so sexy and chic. She looks amazing. Does anybody have thoughts about the type of fabric the dress is made of?

Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 8:25 PM | Unregistered CommenterSusan

Love! Love! Beautiful!

Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 10:02 PM | Unregistered CommenterHelen

Does anyone know anything about the earrings?? Love the whole look. Shoes are fabulous! but I really, really want those earrings!!

Please don't flame me. I love, love, LOVE, LURVE Mrs. Obama. As for her hair -- I really do think there are times when she wears a weave. A really well done, excellently styled, perfectly matched short weave. It looks great, but I just think it's not always her hair that we are looking at. (Well, it's hers 'cause she bought it, but I think you know what I mean.)

Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 10:13 PM | Unregistered Commenterisonprize

She looked divine!! In the second photograph, she looks overcome with emotion by all the love and support from the audience.

Now, that's the way to party! Love the dress and the fit....also the earrings.

Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 11:53 PM | Unregistered Commenterchar

These two people just ooze gorgeousness and joy and charisma. INCREDIBLE.

Friday, September 17, 2010 at 3:27 AM | Registered Commentermeta

Miss Michelle Baker, I sincerely doubt that Mrs. O. would make the mistake of wearing the same dress to the same event two years in a row.

Friday, September 17, 2010 at 4:48 AM | Unregistered CommenterChristen

She is on a roll. This is absolutely great on her figure - super fashion forward, super great cut on her. She looks fantastic.

Friday, September 17, 2010 at 5:33 AM | Unregistered Commenterfun

That bronze dress looks divine on our Michelle. Oh, please don't get me started about those Jimmy Choo Lantern shoes.....smokin' hot! Giving credit where it's due, our President was rather dapper himself. I just adore this couple and the way that they stand together for this country. Truly inspiring and amazing!

Fabulous....enough said.

Friday, September 17, 2010 at 8:15 AM | Unregistered CommenterBrooksie

I whole-heartedly agree...they are an amazing couple!

Friday, September 17, 2010 at 10:06 AM | Unregistered CommenterMs. M

Love this look, she really shines. Mrs. O is so graceful but still very chic and refreshing! Her body is cick, and i mean that in a good way.

I love coming to this site and reading the positive comments and constructive criticisms of thinking people. The mob mentality that one finds elsewhere does not rule here. It lifts me up and drum roll>>>>I GOT A JOB, A FANTASTIC JOB!!!! I have to show up at the office on Mondays and Fridays and can work from home the rest of the week, which is wonderful with my little one. This may sound silly to some but on my bluest days this blog was my first stop. Looking at this couple, who has given so much to America and has endured so much scorn from detractors and yet always retains such authenticity. That is what I see in the pictures above and she looks stunning, simply stunning. He does too.

Friday, September 17, 2010 at 12:29 PM | Unregistered Commenterdasie

So what of she wears a weave? We all know she has medium to long hair and may use fillers to full out a style. Everybody does these days. Its an accessory that is here to stay.

Congratulations Dasie!!

Friday, September 17, 2010 at 8:14 PM | Registered CommenterNyon

My dad is 72 years young. When he saw Mrs. Obama in this outfit, he said this was the first time in his life that he called a first lady sexy. His actual words were, 'Wow that is a sexy lady!'

Friday, September 17, 2010 at 9:25 PM | Unregistered CommenterClaire

She looks radiantly healthy! Love the clasped hands - I never get enough of seeing that.

Dasie, I usually stop by to see what's new and browse comments, but today I had to log in just to congratulate you on your new job. I'm so happy for you, and being out of work myself since February, I can imagine just how relieved you are to be working again.

Being able to telecommute is a ++! Congratulations again, and all the best.
