The president and first lady attended the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute's 33rd Annual Awards Gala at the Washington Convention Center this evening. For the event, Mrs. O wore a bronze-gold cocktail dress, accessorized with bejeweled circular earrings and gold open-toe heels. Fabulous!
Update: Mrs. O wore a bronze sequin dress by Moschino!

Cingrats Dasie and marabout40 keep positive, sending you good karma. I too, started a new job on July 6. I am a registered dietitian, close horse :) ...and I got a job in a VA. Everyday I walk into work past a picture of our awesome president -- and give a silent thanks to him. He is the reason I have gotten my near perfect job. BOO HOO to the naysayers - the economy is slowly getting better. And most importantly FLOTUS ROCKS!!!!!!
This bronze body-stocking is not appropriate for the First Lady of the United States to wear at a public event. (Besides the fact that it makes her hips look huge) Just because you think you can wear something this form-fitting doesn't make it correct to wear it. All of these blogging women proclaiming 'hot, hot, hot' need a reality check. The First Lady is not receiving an MTV award; she is representing the United States.
OMG, the color of the night is red. It's flowy and flirty, and loverly (not a typo). Oh, the bodice. I just love. I'm going back to stalking now. P. S. I do not appreciate the press taking photos on the sly of Malia and Sasha today. I predict a beatdown coming from 1600 Pennsylvania. Mama is not going to be happy with this.
@isonprize
Every black woman DOES NOT wear fake hair. Just because many prefer to buy their hair does not mean that all black women wear weaves. Michelle is a woman that takes care of her body, her children's hair, and her hair, no need to buy hair when you have NATURAL hair on your head that is thick.
Anyway she looks STUNNING in her red.
where are you all seeing these new pictures?
This is absolutely stunning. I mean, truly, this couple just takes my breath away. When they go out like this, they are just knockouts....both of them. But this is about Mrs. O and this dress, the earrings...are just perfection.
Although I am not of big fan of the dress, the First Lady does look HOT!!!!!!
Radiant and authentic black beauty!
@ susanna rose, is your favorite color green?
I detest/protest when women project their body insecurities on Mrs. O. There is absolutely NOTHING WRONG with having curvaceous hips and donning a dress that celebrates them!
Hopefully, my dear, you will check your reality in a full length mirror and accept yourself.
@Susanna Rose,
I agree with Mckinley, your color is indeed green because it's reflected in your silly comments. Wearing something form-fitting in no way connotes something thight and ill-fitting, instead what it means is wearing something that fits the silhouette of the person's body. This dress the First Lady is wearing is well-fitted and it shows a woman who takes care of herself and is in no way afraid of wearing clothes that show how fit she is. Now if you can't handle that, well you know what you can do with your silly comments. As you can see, no one else shares your distorted and outdated views. Instead of criticizing you should take a page out of the First Lady's book and get moving, and maybe, just maybe some day you'd have a body to be proud of too.
Jackie Kennedy and Nancy Reagan wore many form fitting gowns and sheaths. If you, Susanna Rose, or whomever you choose to represent yourself as on any given day, are going to set a standard for appropriate dress for a First Lady, check your fashion history of the genre before you make pronouncements.
@ Susanna Rose
I meant what I said and I said what I meant. THE FIRST LADY OF THE UNITED STATES OFAMERICA is HOT, HOT, HOT, HOT ( I threw an extra hot in just because I can, now what?!)
Susanna Rose or whatever you are calling yourself today - both Jackie Kennedy and Nancy Reagan favored form fitting outfits on many occasions. If you are going to set a standard for what First Ladies wear, do some research first.
Mrs. Obama is a rock star, I do say!!!!
Poor Susanna Rose. I see you learned the hard way not to criticize Mr's O's fashion on this page. Only positive comments are allowed or the gang will pounce on you.
This blog is not a democracy:(
Lisa H, you are not correct. If this blog wasn't democratic, Mrs. T would never have posted the comment from an unregistered poster. I can take critiques in stride. Rude critiques-- it ain't happening. If you can dish it, please be able to take it.
Lisa H. when you post your opinion you should know that there is a chance that people will disagree with you and call you out on it and it is also your right to defend your statement. Ms. Rose chose to quote my statement and I chose to let her know that I am sticking by my statement. And I will let her, you and anyone else know that. As McKinley said, if you can't take it, please don't dish it.
Lisa H.
If your idea of a democracy is what echoes the current vitriol on/in many media outlets these days, then you are right, this is not a democracy. If someone chooses to make remarks that some of the posters here feel are rude or snarky, she or he will get called out. There is no need to comment on Mrs. O's body parts in such a way that you or I or any woman would want ourselves to be characterized.
As for taking heat, grow up. Just the other day posters who said they would have preferred a different shoe color on Mrs. O were outnumbered by a host of posters who loved the bright blue pumps she wore. None of us are hiding in a corner, licking our wounds.
Mrs. Reagan was a size 2. Jaqueline Kennedy was 5'9" and between 120-130 her entire life. A search of archives does not show any instance -- as Mrs. T blogger asserts -- that either wore a dress at any time in during the Kennedy or Reagan administration that were body-hugging. Galanos and Cassini, their favorite respective designers, preferred that fabrics 'skim' the body. Oh course, the word 'hot', the most repeated word on this blog, was not used in either woman's era to describe their fashion choices.
Hahahahaha! And I'm a fan:)
As you can see, we do not discriminate ;-)
I can think of several words that span eras to describe your thinly veiled attitude, "Susanna. Rose."
Wowee, wowee!!! A first lady for the 21st century - heart, soul, brain, and stylish to boot - Rock on Mrs O, rock on!!!
I'm glad our first lady has a fashion sense that allows her to be in touch with her own body and proud to show it off. None of the former first ladies could touch the beautiful well toned arms and legs of Mrs. Obama. She is truly a 21st century woman, who dresses the part. I'm certain our former first ladies would have applauded her style, glow, and tenacity.
The earrings the First lady Mrs. Michelle Obama wore were from Sutra Jewels.
