Splendid in Isabel Toledo

The first lady wore a splendid pink Isabel Toledo ensemble, embellished with a stunning Erickson Beamon pin at the shoulder, to host a White House luncheon for recipients of the National Design Awards. Among those to be honored by the Smithsonian's Cooper Hewitt, National Design Museum, are sister-design duo (and Mrs. O favorite) Rodarte. Per the AP, the first lady called the winners "some of our country's most talented, most visionary, most public-minded designers."
In her own subtle way, it seemed perhaps Mrs. O was honoring design talents Isabel Toledo and Erickson Beamon too! On hand to see the ensemble, the AP describes it as, "a V-neck top, drapes of fabric at the waist and loose flowing pants."
One tidbit to share, pointed out by "Meredith P": Upon learning that she would be seated next to Tim Gunn, the first lady said, "How cool!" And it seems the feeling are mutual. Tim Gunn later took to Facebook, writing:
"Hi everyone! I just had to get on Facebook and share the incredible day I had with you. I had the absolute honor and privilege of being seated next to Michelle Obama today at a lunch held to honor National Design Award winners at the White House. She is so stunning! I literally could spend each afternoon with her - it was such a pleasure!"

There is a good deal of similarity between this pink ensemble and the black Isabel Toledo tunic and pants that Mrs. O wore to a Vogue/Calvin Klein fundraiser in 2008, seen here. Also to mention, NY Mag reports that the Mulleavy sisters of Rodarte were unfortuantely unable to attend the White House luncheon.

She looks gorgeous!!! Love it!
Gorgeous as always I love it stunning.
Wonderful speech, and as always, she looks gorgeous. Love this woman. So proud of her and thankful for her - and her husband.
LOVE MRS OBAMA DRESS VERY NICE ON HER.
The color of the dress is unbelievably beautiful on First Lady Obama but I couldn't keep my eyes off of the pin. It is gorgeous and so different. I love the outfit, the hair and the pin and I think that about covers it.
I would love to see a full length picture....I heard it's a pantsuit! Love this color on her.

Pink Outfit
I think she looks very nice, and I also love the pin! I like how she throws back to the late 80's and early 90's, but it is always her own true style. I would love to meet Tim Gunn myself:)
Thanks for the photos' Mrs. T. (For some odd reason the video would not play on my laptop.)
I think she looks fantastic in this. I love hot pantsuits. The pin and the cuff are great too.
The black is also great for an evening affair. I don't think we've seen a color yet that wasn't great on her.
I think the style and fit of the 2008 pantsuit is much more flattering on Mrs O. I would love to see her in the pink pantsuit a size or two smaller. Love the bright color!
What a lovely outfit! Love the pin! Love her message!
This raspberry color looks wonderful on her. I like how our Michelle off set the pin so that it was not completely on the fabric of the top. As usual, her hair and makeup was on point. @ Lisa H, I agree. She carries off that throw-back style and makes it fresh and relevant. This look here is a winner in my book.
I always visit this site first thing in the morning and the afternoon (which is late morning) on the East coast. Why ?? Because the mere sight of Michelle Obama sets me up for the day. I mean truly. She makes me burst with pride the same way a parent gushes at seeing their little child in the school nativity. You hold your breath as your child walks onto the stage, stop breathing as they say or do their little part and when it’s all over you just want to cry tears of joy and tell the world that’s your baby. That’s how I feel every time I see Michelle Obama. I hold my breath in awe, I listen to her inspiring speeches and admire her beautiful clothes and when she gets to the end I just feel so tearful and proud to know that the world has such a great woman supporting the President.
BTW, I'm not sure if anyone is interested and please forgive me, Mrs T, if I'm not allowed to do this but there appears to be some Erickson Beamon products for sale on Ebay. Not sure about the authenticity but take a look if you get a spare mo as there are a few nice pieces.
If anyone is interested and catches this soon enough, here is a link to the shipbuilder's site and to a live stream by them of today's christening in Mississippi. Note the time is 10:30 central time.

This pant ensemble looks fantastic on our First Lady! I really like the color, and the free form layering effect. It's very pretty and feminine!
