Tuesday marks the official launch of the First Lady's campaign against childhood obesity, and it seems Mrs. O media appearances will abound.
Per Lynn Sweet of Daily Flotus:
Mrs. Obama's East Wing said she will be "joined by members of the president's cabinet, as well as media, sports, entertainment, and business leaders," plus mayors, member of the medical community and others at the White House event. On Tuesday evening, Mrs. Obama will sit down with CNN's Larry King for an interview about obesity and her first year as first lady. She will take questions from viewers.
Additionally, Mrs. O will appear on Good Morning America, a first peek of which we have here:
On a style note, the first lady is wearing an ivory double face wool sheath dress and jacket from Talbots for her interview with Robin Roberts. Mrs. O first wore the dress in November for a White House classical music event, seen here. Completing the ensemble is a pair of knee high boots in camel.
Update #1: Mrs. O's Super Tuesday is off and running! This morning the president signed a memorandum as part of Mrs. O's campaign to combat childhood obesity. The president and first lady were joined by Education Secretary Arne Duncan, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, and Interior Secretary Ken Salazar in the Oval Office of the White House.
For the signing, Mrs. O wore a teal dress with printed top, paired wtih a coordinating teal cardigan. A statement brooch by Erickson Beamon completed look. See photo above.
Update #2: The first lady has just unveiled a new website for her campaign against childhood obesity, Let's Move. In the email introducing the website, Mrs. O writes:
"The problem is clear. Over the past three decades, childhood obesity rates in this country have tripled. Today, obesity and excess weight threaten the health of one out of three American children. It’s time for us to act. That's why I’m asking you to be part of Let's Move! -- a nationwide effort to solve the obesity epidemic within one generation."

The federal government is closed on Tuesday for the second day in a row due to the snow storm.
Although the most important thing is the safety of workers in the DMV area, I'd be sad if it meant Mrs O's big launch was postponed.

I woke this morning to seeing Mrs. O's interview on GMA and now have a smile on my face to start the day. She looked so fresh and crisp in the ivory. How does she manage to look so chic, yet serious, yet sexy, yet approachable, yet confident....yet competent? I know she has some help, but POTUS sure picked a good woman--she had his back in this interview and always does and makes their critics look childish. She also had on knee-high dark cream suede boots identical to the black ones she has sported this winter. And the hair was fierce--shiny and with my favorite subtle bangs.
I'm looking foward to seeing her tonight at 9pm EST on CNN's Larry King Live. (I think Larry is smitten with our FLOTUS when he gets around her--who wouldn't).

I think it's horrible that Mrs. T will not publish comments that are not overtly positive and critique Mrs. Obama or the blog. I have been respectful and reasonable in negative comments i have made about Mrs. T's coverage of Mrs. Obama but she refuses to publish them. Free speech? I Think Not!
The hair is fierce like that! Lots of body and bounce to it. And that outfit is so perfect! And, my word, those boots! . Anybody else get a chic 80's vibe from this outfit. The whole look is like a modern version of something you could have seen in Vogue 25 years ago.

Love this look. So clean and fresh. Note the lip color is in keeping with the light colors. OK...where are the rule-keepers who can't get past the winter white...I know you are out there! Just remember, it is the weight of the fabric, not the color, that determines its winter worthiness.

@ Rory, that is not in the least bit true. If your comments have been deleted in the past it means one of two things: in my judgment, they were disrespectful, or, another reader felt they were offensive and requested that I delete them. I think almost anyone who reads this blog regularly would acknowledge there is a significant degree of criticism allowed in the comments, often more than some would like. @ Mrs. T - I'm glad you responded quickly (and patiently) to Rory. While you monitor this site to ensure it is a place where reasonable people can disagree, I think most of us who have been here regularly and for some time would agree you do not infringe upon anyone's free speech. Discussions here often become, shall we say, spirited - but those who devolve into name calling and overwrought passion do not serve anyone particularly well. I think you have achieved a good balance, and I'm grateful.
Mrs. O looks fabulous in the white with the knee high camel boots. Elegant and understated. I also thought it was a subtle message that someone who is in great, healthy shape can wear white - even on TV where the camera adds 10 lbs or so.
Those boots are the living end! I love the color, the heel, and the way they look with Mrs. O's winter white ensemble. A+++
I have to chime in that Mrs. T does a great job moderating comments.
There is always going to be the first amendment argument that free speech takes precedence over common sense and respectful discourse; and the ancillary argument that what constitutes disrespect is subjective and open to debate and interpretation.
Mrs. T has taken the responsibility of the upkeep of this blog, and one of her criteria is that comments remain moderately civil. It is hard to abide some of the snark that creeps in, but it's nice to know this site is a refuge from the many blogs out there that allow all kinds of snarky, offensive comments to be displayed.
I would say that it is also a dissatisfied poster's prerogative to move to another site if she/he wants to be critical of Mrs. O's fashion choices without having to worry about moderation.
Love the teal ensemble. It gives her a nice hourglass shape. A nice clean look.
She is proud of her husband, she says, he keeps his hand out, positive and focused. It's a gift, she says. And she is a gift to me, as an American and I accept it with an open heart and I will never be the same. This first family has touched me in a way that is inexplicable. I have been truly blessed by the experience.
I love her GMA outfit, very cool, very chic, a professional woman on her way to do some important business. I wish she had left the cardigan, of her teal outfit, unbuttoned so I could see some more of the dress top. Her hair is lovely and growing longer already. Blessings to Mrs. O

I posted something once, while not against MO, it was a rather sarcastic comment about a suit she was wearing. I regretted it as soon as I hit submit but Mrs. T never posted it and I was glad for that. I think that she has the right to control what gets said on her blog. Actually it has been refreshing coming here in the past couple weeks and I was wondering if the regulars had just learned to ignore the snarkers. Just one more thing, I have posted positive comments about the Obamas on the anti blogs and they never get posted.........

Thanks for that new video, Mrs. T!!!! Mrs. O is rolling this initiative out quite nicely. From what i gather, this is about empowerment, not about telling people how to live their lives and feed their families. Knowledge is power and the more people know about eating right and being active, and the more we talk about it as a society - the more people feel like DOING IT.
Go'head Mrs. O with those sexy boots and her power suit on GMA. Her blue outfit during the signing ceremony is lovely, and her husband sure seems prouder than anything of her.

IVA, it should be in the video that Mrs. T posted, but Robin asked her if hearing people talk about how Hope and Change has not come fast enough and about some of the soundbytes that are made, Do they sting? And she told her what stings and it had nothing to do with what people say. And she told her "My husband has done a phenomenal job". You can find both parts of the video on ABCnews.com or on yahoo.

Awwww...I just saw the full interview and y'all are right. She's his best spokesperson. You don't give up holding that hand out. So many people want him to get nasty like his opponents, but what will that do? Only force the battle lines to be drawn deeper because very seldom do people respond positively to negativity.
All I have to say is the Hopey Changey stuff is working out mighty fine for me because I'm not carrying around the hate, anger, and frustration.
Mrs. T asked us once before to be kind to one another and treat each other with respect.
Mrs. T has demonstrated to us that she enjoys sharing her fascination and admiration with
our country's magnificent First Lady, Michelle Obama, and goes above and beyond the call
of duty to provide us with the information, as soon as she gets them.
FREEDOM OF SPEECH, does not mean lack of respect. No way. I don't by that. We don't
just hurt other people’s feelings and then expect them to forgive us. We need to think bfore
we speak, being more tactful in criticisms and set and example for those who may have
a little trouble doing so. I've seen so many negative remarks posted here in the past, and
asked myself, what's going on here? This is certainly not a reflection of our Leader.
Surely, we wouldn’t want others to say, "there's always some problem on that blog

The civil rights music night scheduled for tomorrow night has been upped to tonight. Will be streamed by the White House at 8 eastern and I think will be shown later on PBS. If that interferes with Larry King, his program will be repeated several times during the night. The workshop was on, too, this afternoon but I just caught the last song.
Big, big day for Michelle and she has shone brightly at every one so far.

Wow! Are we lucky to have Mrs. Obama as our First Lady! Children's obesity is a huge (no pun intended ) issue in this country. Perhaps her campaign will encourage some adults to eat healthier and excercise more as well.
I love the teal outfit as a whole, but I think the cardigan would have looked good if it had been left open.....the better to show off the blouse.

I want to join the chorus of voices here who've expressed their support of your impartiality in dealing with posters who occasionally have attempted to post derogatory statements about the First Lady on this site then when questioned or chastised, quickly tried to hide behind their so called "first amendment right". I thank you wholeheartedly for proactively deleting such garbage from this site thus maintaining the integrity of this blog which you have painstakingly tried to uphold since it's inception. With such a track record, it's very easy to ignore the nonsensical mutterings of haters like Rory Knight. Their sole purpose is to create mischief and discord. They have shown their true colors so many times that we can now see their approach a mile away. As the POTUS has said repeatedly, "we can disagree without being disagreeable". I firmly believe that to be your intent with this blog, and I commend you for it.
Now, to the First Lady's launch of her obesity initiative. I think it is long overdue. I like her non-threatening, non-confrontational approach to this serious issue. It's about finding solutions, not casting blame. It's about working together to encourage those who are struggling to find answers to this very complicated, yet simple situation. We should all support her efforts by encouraging those closest to us to "Get Moving".
As for her winter white outfit worn this morning on GMA, she looked fantastic! It was fresh, crisp, and bestowed a little bit of Spring to a White House almost buried under a winter blizzard.
