Trick or Treat

Image by Brendan Smialowski / Getty Images

The Os are hosting an annual Halloween celebration at the White House this evening, greeting trick or treaters at the North Portico. For the evening event, the first lady has paired a festive orange cardigan with a coordinating orange sequin shell, accented by a bee brooch at the collar.

Orange and white is a lovely, festive combination. Great hairdo, too.
p.s. Also like Mr. O's sweater and collared shirt outfit.

It is nice to see them smiling. The President has looked so tired the last few days.

I think she looks quite beautiful with her hair pulled back. Love the color on her! Did anyone else notice the rhinestones on her eyelashes? Such fun!

Love when they mix fun things with the business of politics. this is a lovely shot of them. I prefer this to her last year's costume.

This is a "Treat". What a fun couple! Mrs. Obama wears the color burnt orange quite well.

I wonder what costume has Mr. President cracking up in laughter...

Casual Mrs. O still brings the style.

Lovely, she looks elegant...just like a gracious hostess.

So, so cute together, and obviously having a great time! Mr. President looks sharp,

I think it is amazing that both of them have been out and about on the political front recently but they still have time for White House events, something that Mrs Obama promises last January. Sometimes, when things aren't going so good, it's so easy to isolate yourself until the storm abates but I love the defiant, determined and hard working approach that they demonstrate.

Mrs O does it again, she got all that class and grace. Shes lookin so fine with her hair straightened.

Leave it to Mrs. O to be festively yet First Lady-fashionably attired. No small feat for Halloween!

It seems like such a fun time. I love these two and will do anything to have them for another 4.

Go President and First Lady Obama!

I love the cardigan and shell ensemble on the First Lady; the Prez looks great as well.

As a fashionable geek myself, let me say that I love President Obama's style. Like his wife, he has his own unique way of just being himself. I love it! What is fashionable may change, but style is personal and a thing of beauty.

Very festive.

They look so great and that color is stunning on her....very festive. I think it's pretty hard to outshine our President because he is so gorgeous and dynamic, but she does! What a couple and what lucky little trick or treaters to go to the White House!

I liked last years Kitty Cat outfit too.

This is a nice, elegant twist for our First Lady - nice color, nice ensemble.

Love the colour and the texture - and I'm adoring the bee!!!! Sweet as pumpkin cake!

Anyone know where the sweater and shell may have come from? Designer? J. Crew?

Loved the cat outfit last year. Perhaps all the time on the campaign trail has left little time for costume choices?

Very cute and fun. Bee pin adds a touch of whimsy.

I love this color and style of the set. Very chic! I also think the semi-sexy cat costume last year was too edgy. This is appropriate and fun without being sedate.

Lanvin? They're big on bees lately.

One of my favorite colors (not only for Halloween) - nice with her skin tone. The bee makes me think of the famous Malia bee (!) from Crete. It was considered a sacred insect, the 'Mother Bee' ..

Does anyone know the designer of the shell or cardigan?

Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at 1:46 PM | Unregistered CommenterACE

The bee pin is great and I love photos where the two of them seem so happy and relaxed. I went onto Alexis Bittar's website (bee pin designer) and it's a little off-putting. He seems obsessed with dead animals. A little strange. His store in Manhattan is the same way. Anybody else have the same reaction?
