Tres Chic in San Francisco

AP Photo/Marcio Jose Sanchez

Mrs. O was in San Francisco last night for a Democratic National Convention fundraiser, joined by Dr. Jill Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. For the appearance, Mrs. O wore a mauve leopard burnout dress from the Thakoon Fall Winter 2010 collection, which can be seen in greater detail here. Gorgeous!

Update: The first lady also wore Mary Esses earrings from the jewelry designer's Cage Collection, featuring oval green amethyst set in a nest made of wires and diamonds. Make that tres tres chic!

Pure class. Hope the election goes well for Dems. I love Nancy Pelosi.

I'll check whitehouse.gov, OFA, or youtube for a video of the speech.

I'm loving the portion of Mrs. O's dress I can actually see, LOL!
Speaker Pelosi is "rocking" that pantsuit, as well.
I know Dr. Biden "brought it" also; wish I can see a picture of her from this event.

Grey. Velvet. Animal print. dress.

On any other woman, this would be a recipe for disaster. But with her hair up, it looks sophisticated while so on trend. Grey is the new black and animal print has made a comeback. If anyone has any other pics on this, please share.

@SoccerNana
Several photos on Huffington Post and one on theobamadiary. They look nice and seem to enjoy themselves.

Mrs. T, I don't remember seeing this outfit spotlighted on your site: http://obamafoodorama.blogspot.com/2010/09/michelle-obama-gets-marketing-magic.html

Could you get some info on that top? I love it!

@marabout40
Haven't we seen this outfit earlier this summer? I vaguely remember a photo taken while boarding an airplane.

Wow. She looks lovely here. The colors and the velvety texture of the dress are perfect for her skin tone and the cooler season. Those earrings are hot too.

@ marabout40
The top in that photo is Duro Olowu. She wore it to board a plane a few months ago and I guess she wore it again to film this PSA for her Lets Move! initiative.

You can see the top at the link below:

When you magnify the photo you can scroll toward the right. It's modeled by the 14th model starting from the left.

Mrs Obama ROCKS!!! I love how very "ungeneric" she is and how she beautifully, gracefully and comfortably embraces the very elevated, unique and complex and sophisticated fashion insider style without looking contrived or forced.

You've got to give this woman her due - she ROCKS and in a very unaffected and effortless way too!!!

Mrs. O looks very polished, elegant and professional and I LOVE the earrings!

One of my FAVOURITE fabrics! I love devore - so comfortable and it hangs so sumptuously. Mrs O is a complete knockout in this dress and Nancy Pelosi is no slouch either in that suit!!! The number of women who can carry off a white trouser suit is pitiably small but she's doing it. Love the grey. love the sheen, love the earrings. Ossom!

I have never heard of this designer, but this dress is fabulous and looks great on Mrs. O. Fantastically beautiful earrings, too!

Oops! In my earlier post, what I meant to say was that I had not heard yet of Mary Esses, the jewelry designer. Of course I know who Thakoon is, courtesy of Mrs. O.
