Channeling Mrs. O

We enjoyed this little video that offers tips on channeling Mrs. O's style, delivered by Project Runway alum Laura Bennett. Something to pass the time until we see Mrs.O next! Click here to see.

Please make the close fit your model. The print dress with the white coat does not look good together. Neither does the pink dress under arms with the black bra. The dress is just too large. Loved the orange outfit. And the shoes looked like plastic shoes that did not fit.

Thanks Mrs T!
That was fun

I love that Laura is wearing an unbuttoned cardigan belted on the outside just like Mrs. O--ha! I loved the white coat but hated the print dress underneath.

Thanks Mrs. T---that was great! More videos like that please!!!

Wow, that was fun. I love Laura Bennett and she did a great job of deconstruting these looks.

Mrs. O would NEVER wear a dress as short as that floral number! She's too dignified & quite right, too! Go, Michelle!

Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at 7:10 PM | Unregistered CommenterJudy

Besides the cardigans and colors, I've started to wear a large flower brooch/clip like Mrs. Obama, either on my lapel or in my hair. Bonus if I'm carrying a purse that matches the flower!

Thanks for the fun video Mrs. T! You do a great job and we
appreciate it. I am going shopping.

And that woman is a Republican!

But I love her anyway. She should have won PR.

That was such a cute video...lol

Interesting and very refreshing!!! Just take a look at the site for the european "royals". All of the young royals are wearing many different cardigans, floral prints, short dresses and strapless evening gowns - lots of fun clothing jus like the ones Mrs. Obama is wearing. Even Princess Letizia from Spain is wearing a formal spaghetti straps gown with a cardigan.

What part of "Channeling Mrs. O" do some posters NOT understand? Seriously, the blind defense and overprotectiveness of Mrs. O has gotten ridiculous. The video is about applying Mrs. O's style to regular people, not the other way around! Also, talk about being judgmental! You can determine from the length of the model's dress that she is undignified! Come on! Give me a break! And whose to say Mrs. O will never wear such a length either in private or public! The woman is first lady, not a candidate for sainthood!

Who watch Brian Williams reporting today from the white House...OO my God it was great. It was nice to see all POTUS loyal staff, obviously enjoying working for this president. They seem to have a lot of fun...I can't wait for tomorrow where we get to see the First Lady...

Loved it

That was cute! I loved Laura so much, she is incredibly talented. It's funny because the last dress, I wouldn't call A-line (or pretty, to be honest) and those heels didn't look like kitten heels, either. But whatever, it was a fun diversion.

Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at 10:08 PM | Unregistered CommenterChristina

Any chance of diversifying the models?

Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at 10:14 PM | Unregistered CommenterJanice

I wish Laura Bennett would really launch a full-blown clothing line or heck, label. I LOVED her stuff during PR...she, like Mrs. O, are just sheer class.
If I were Mrs. O, I'd have Mrs. Bennett on my designer roster! SD

Thanks for the diversion, Mrs. T. I really loved Laura as well. She has great presence and a really good voice for the media.

I just watched the first part of the NBC Obama White House. It was a pretty candid rendering of a work day there. The contrast in personalities was interesting as well. I marvel at President Obama's calmness. What struck me was the diversity and youth of his staff.

It appears that tomorrow night will feature family life for at least part of the segment. Can't wait!

Mrs. T, I look forward to your new format, not to mention your book! I hope we get some previews to pique our interests. You have done a great job growing this blog, and letting it find its shape organically. I sense that you feel it is time to introduce ways for people to express their views more expansively, and you also offer those who want to stick to just fashion a venue as well. There seems to have been a rise in membership as of late and with that comes new challenges but also new opportunities.

I can envision using all the new options you put in place, and wish you success in this new phase of mrs.o.org.

What interesting article, but where took information?

Aw. Laura Bennett! Doesn't she look fabulous?

Cute little video done on a below-low budget.

Thank You MrsT, that video was cute.
@Mimi,
I also enjoyed BriWi's Obama WH special. What jumped at me the most was how some of the Whitehouse staff are young, fashionable and not afraid of colorful.

Cant wait for tomorrow's piece.

Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at 10:52 PM | Unregistered CommenterStylishgurl

I agree with everyone who took note of the mix of old and young at the White House. That is a wonderful thing for our country's future. These mid to late 20 year olds are getting the experience of a lifetime. I even read that a major point person with the auto task force is 31!

Mr. O really is the calm of the storm around him. He seems to be on top of everything - I don't know how he manages so many moving parts.

Can't wait for Mrs. O and Bo Obama tomorrow!

this video is so dumb! and the clothes look so bad! what's the point of showing that here...

Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at 11:59 PM | Unregistered Commentersorina

@Sorina This video does what it's meant to do....pass the time. The video is well done but just not very accurate. I don't think Michelle would wear those clothes. I do love this blog for being creative. I predict that this blog will win an AWARD this year or next.

Aw. some commenters have got the wrong end of the stick.

This post isn't pandering to Mrs. O fans. It's pandering to the Mrs Laura Bennett fans.

Chill and enjoy the ride.

June 8th is on Monday.

I looked on Wikipedia too and they say Sasha's b-day is June 7th. Oh well, it one or the other.

I would love to see a segments where people can post dresses or accessories that 'channel' Mrs O on the new version of the blog.

Well done Mrs T.

This video was a creative way to fill time untill the next fabulous outfit/siting of Mrs O. People need to lighten up and just enjoy this site.

I just had to comment on how great Valerie Jarrett looked last night on the NBC special. It was a fast shot, but a beautiful one. She got off the elevator in the West Wing and looked fashionably on point from head to toe. I really thought, "Wow". Valerie is a very elegant woman, with smarts and a great personality to boot.

Hopefully, tonight there will be a little more coverage on Valerie. They have added a lot more additional "web only" clips to the msnbc site that I viewed last night.

Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 9:24 AM | Unregistered CommenterJanelle

OK. Fun video and it was a nice idea from the guys at Project Runway.

First thing I noticed - for the workplace, that print dress was WAY too short (and horrible but that's neither here nor there)!!! Second thing I noticed - the heels were not kitten heels, they were a classic court shoe. Third thing I noticed - all white models??? Hellooo?

I did like that coral sweater with the chino's, although it's far too hot to wear here already. The pink dress and cardigan was a great choice for any office.

Thanks Mrs T, for finding these little distractions for us!

Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 9:36 AM | Unregistered CommenterPosh Tater

Love this site and thanks for the fun video! I just bought a cute cardigan and a wide black belt thanks to reading this blog and I'm really enjoying them!! Truly, the cardigan concept is perfect with so many offices and restaurants being really chilly and it is great that this year there are so many to choose from, probably thanks to Mrs. O!

Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 9:50 AM | Unregistered CommenterDeb

@Pat - Thank you for the information on Mrs O, Sasha & Malia joining the President in Paris. There have been rumors on the internet the last few days but I think this pretty much confirms it.

Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 10:21 AM | Unregistered CommenterDonna No Shock

To see Mrs. O and the girls in Paris together with PBO will be total JOY. I'm thrilled that they are traveling as a family. Hope they can take in some beautiful sites and enjoy every moment together in a gorgeous city. Exciting for all of us!

Every time I refresh the page the video starts playing again. That's really annoying. Anyway to stop that?

Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 11:01 AM | Unregistered Commentermarabout40

marabout40,

If you use Firefox as your browser with the flashblock addon installed, you have to click on videos before they will start. Saves looking at many annoying video ads and fixes the refresh problem.

Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 11:10 AM | Unregistered Commentertrudy

FLOTUS on cnn.com/live now about to give commencement address at a charter school.

Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 11:24 AM | Unregistered Commentermarabout40

Thanks for the tip, Trudy.

Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 11:25 AM | Unregistered Commentermarabout40

yeah, it looks like this is one of those videos that auto-loads. Annoying; that's not Mrs. T. fault, that's the person who put together the video. Thanks for the tip on the flashblock add on, Trudy; I use Firefox but I didn't know about that extension.

Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 11:26 AM | Unregistered CommenterChristina

I pressed pause any time I needed to refresh.

Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 11:42 AM | Unregistered CommenterPosh Tater

Marabout40, just mute your PC.

Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 11:42 AM | Unregistered CommenterMimi

Muting is a nice low-tech fix too. It's an extremely minor irritation we'll have to deal with until it scrolls off the page (so come on, Mrs. O, make lots of news!)

That Flashblock addon for Firefox is NICE, though!
