Mrs. O's Easter Sunday Best

Photo by Martin H. Simon / Getty Images
The President and First Lady attended Easter service at St. John's Episcopal Church on this sunny Sunday morning. Mrs. O wears a floral v-neck dress, fitted through the bodice with a straight skirt that hits at the knee. She paired the dress with an ivory cardigan and double strand of pearls. In a fresh pastel palette, Mrs. O is perfectly dressed for Easter and a vision of Spring. We recognize the fabric from Peter Soronen's Spring / Summer 2009 collection -- the dress perhaps customized in design for Mrs. O.
Update: The dress, originally presented as a one shoulder design in Peter Soronen's Spring Summer 2009 collection, was customized with two shoulders for the first lady. The fabric is a painted cotton lace, the beauty of which can be better seen here.

Gorgeous! Could we have a better looking couple in the White House? I don't think so. I love how Bo is fashionably correct by being black, white, and wearing rainbow colors. Perfect!
The whole family is perfection if you ask me. ;-)
Good Morning Mrs. T and All,
If you go on the Whitehouse.gov website, you can watch a host of different streams that show yesterday's activities on the White House lawn. The chefs were out with a makeshift kitchen, and kids were making healthy treats. There was a huge mirror placed over the cooking area so people could see the dishes being prepared! Too cute!
Y'all, the Easter egg roll is at 10 a.m. What are Michelle and the girls gonna wear?!! I feel we may see an explosion of color, at least I hope so!
And could we please see the President in pinstripes again! My goodness, he is even sexier when he brings some life to his suits!
Y'all! Azzedine Alaia defends Michelle from Oscar! It's on the Style page of the Huffington Post!!
I am a cradle Episcopalian (since four months old).
Hats, gloves, whatever are not attire for our church.
You may come in jeans if you want because the mantra is God is not looking at your clothes, just your heart.
She is dressed perfectly for our church (maybe overdressed for some parishes).
Love the print and colors--wish it had been warmer in ND so I could have worn something "springy" too! Oh, well, soon~
How awesome! As Tess said, the Huffington Post has a follow-up to the whole "miffed designers" thing. Azzedine Alaia gives Oscar de La Renta a very polite smack down: "It's not up to him to give her lessons; Michelle Obama is of her time; Oscar de la Renta is no longer."
He also sounded very flattered that she chose some of his designs:
"I couldn't hope for better," he told WWD. "She has a very strong presence and has set a new style for First Ladies. I'm sure women will follow her style -- it's simple and elegant."
I think this is my very favorite so far! What shoes was she wearing???
this is the nicest dress she has worn in a long time...the lace fabric is gorgeous and the fit is fantastic-- she should wear Peter Soronen nore often!!
OMG
This is the best I have ever seen her
She should definitely wear more LACE and Peter Soronen
It looks great on her
The entire Obama family looks lovely. (However,I do think that Michelle looks better in "brights" vs. "pastels."
Oops! I meant to type: The entire Obama family looks lovely. (However, I do think tht Michelle looks better in "brights" vs. "pastels.")
Let's try this again: The entire Obama family looks lovely. (However, I do think that Michelle looks better in "brights" vs. "pastels.")
So pretty.
I too wanted to see Easter bonnets! Oh well, our First Lady obviously doesn't like to wear hats. I don't like them on me, but I love to see them on other women.
tess, you are so right about the President and his pinstripes! I love the subtle sheen of his tie.
The dress is beautiful. I think she must be pregnant. What do others think?
The perfect Easter outfit. Great fit, nice color palette. She got it right! So did the Prez!
lovely dress, he looks great too, as do the girls
malia is as beautiful as her mother
juste vous félicité pour votre courage et votre détermination à faire changer les choses dans le monde que Dieu vous bénisse et vous protège ton mari et toi. mon pays c'est la Côte D'Ivoire merci.
Beautiful spring look for Michelle and all the family in fact. Lovely!
I love Michelle Obama but would someone tell her to please stand up straight and not walk like a horse ? I think she is beautiful inside and out !
@Tootsie
Yes, Michelle definitely has a "tummy." I guess we'll find out soon enough if she is, indeed, pregnant. :-)
I love the dress! Perfect look! Obama looks hot too!
I love the dress! Obama looks hot too!
The outfit, of both!, is lovely. Very appropriate dress, lovely print and colors. Of course she is NOT pregnant...
I am an Obama supporter and a black woman. To be unbiased and honest, I do not approve of most of her outfits eg. the big-ole-belt she inappropriately wore today at the kid's conference, as well as in the magazine photo posing with her mother. She doesn't need belts and should tone down the crazy styles and designs. From the heart.
