A Second Look

New White House photos on Flickr provide a second look at our favorite dresses of recent weeks.
In the top photo, Mrs. O wears a sequinned Michael Kors frock, worn for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute's 32nd Annual Awards Gala in Washington, D.C.
In the second photo, Mrs. O wears a cobalt blue dress by Jason Wu as she meets former Olympic gymnast Nadia Comaneci. Note the fantastic detail on the crocodile print fabric.
Update #1: We've also added a photo from the gymnastics demonstration that took place on the White House lawn in mid-September. Grazia Fashion has reported that Mrs. O's skirt is Erdem, noting that the designer is "known for his painterly approach to print and colour, and elegant ladylike tailoring." We recall that someone from Mrs-O.org spotted the designer as Erdem a few weeks ago and noted it in the comments. Please remind us who - we'd like to give you recognition!
Update #2: That person is Ari. Hooray!

Fantastic pictures! Thanks Mrs O. Who is the lady in the wheelchair please? Is she part of the para olympic team?
We could not really see the print of the blue dress in the original pictures, but now that I can, I really like this dress. I have to admit it was not one of my favorites originally. It seemed kind of drab to me. Now that I can see it under better lighting, it makes a world of difference. I still like the bold necklace that she wore with this dress...that was what made the outfit really stand out. This is a good look. By the way Posh Tater, I also was wondering about the lady in the wheel chair. I was hoping to see some of the para olympians being represented in the process.
Love the cobalt blue dress now that I am seeing it closeup! Wish it was an even better pic.
Wow, and now we'll get to speculate what she'll where to the Nobel Prize ceremony! I think it's white-tie, and I'm sure they'll both look fabulous. I'm so proud of our President today!!
Hey Mrs.T! It was me that posted the comment about the skirt being Erdem. Thanks for remembering! I can't find exactly where I posted it, but I did link to a shirt in an identical print by the designer and an article about Sarah Brown also wearing his designs.
I just noticed the pretty woman standing next to Valerie Jarrett (her right, our left) in the picture of the gymnastics demonstration. Her dress is gorgeous on her and totally my style.
This was a GREAT idea to do a 2nd look. I hope this blog continues to do 2nd looks because it really makes a difference. I can see the patterns/details so much better now.
I like when the photo includes other notable members from the White House like Mrs. Biden, Mrs. Pelosi , Mrs. Clinton or Ms. Rogers etc.
Michelle has a good heart which shines through no matter what she is wearing. Now I cannot help but say that congratulations to President Obama and indeed to all of you well meaning Americans who elected him as president. I hope you are all proud of him especially on being awarded a the Nobel Peace . This is an aknowlegement of the world about your decision to elect him.
He said he shares it with all of you. I pray that this will strenghen you to lend him and his wife your support in their efforts to make the world a better place . Once again congratulations to all of you.
Peace .
@ Original Mrs. A, The woman you're referring to is former Olympic gymnast Dominique Dawes!
Awww, Mrs T, you're the best. Each of these second look photos add a new dimension to each outfit, like the second one of the Olympic demonstrations at the White House, that outfit is really pretty makes want to keep my eye out for such a skirt, so that I can mix and match it up.
Serious congratulations to the President and First Lady such a life lesson you always put your best foot forward and give it your best shot and stay encouraged in the face of defeat. There is an old saying paraphesed ...while one door is closing God is opening another. Life lesson, stay encouraged even in the face of seeming defeat. But as another expressed enough of that; what will Mrs O wear.....aw shuck's guys ain't life GRAND!

Oops, I meant the 3rd photo.

AND HER HUSBAND WAS WEARRING WHAT HE ALWAYS WEARING IN THE WEEKENDS. BUT HIS SHOES GOT PAINT ON IT.
Wow, that frontal shot of FLOTUS with the sequence dress is awe-inspiring. Her arms are amazzinggggggg. Mrs. O physique reminds me a Jamaican track star, flawless. I love it!
Alma: Your post was incredibly beautiful and appreciated...
Real Americans thank you and stand solidly behind our wonderful President and First Lady as they work hard to restore our country to its former glory-
Please keep the prayers going and never let up...
Alma, your lovely comments warmed my heart. Thank you.
Alma-- I agree that it is heartwarming to hear people from other countries express their appreciation for our president and for the fact that we elected him. I, too, am very glad we elected him though I was on pins and needles through much of the campaign afraid that we wouldn't. Many were the mornings that I woke up agonized with the thought lodged in my consciousness that he had lost and it was my fault because I had not convinced enough people to vote for him. Too many times the best candidate has not won in our elections. And this candidate was clearly exceptional.
There is another photo in that series of the red UN suit, but not much of it is clearly seen. It's after his speech, lots of people around, and I think he's a fixing' to kiss her.
He will be giving a speech tonight at a gays rights event. Wonder of Michelle will accompany him. She was at the one they held at the White House. C-Span will be carrying it at 7:50 ET tonight. Cable news channels may carry it because they are trying to stir up a controversy between him and the gay community. Barney Franks, though, says a lot is happening in Congress.
I love this web site. Does Mrs O know about it? Also, I just want to say that Dominique Dawes's dress is very Mrs O-like and very pretty!
@ Mrs. T
Thanks for identifying that woman. Oh and now if I could find where she got that dress.... :)=
I just saw some pictures of The First Family on Getty Images and they were coming back from mass.....so cute! The girls are adorable and The First Lady and Mr. President look absolutely amazing. I'm not sure if commenting on their outfits when not in a public event is allowed, so if it isn't ok, please forgive me. Mrs.T, you can delete this if it's not proper. Thanks so much.
I think the First Family looked lovely, casual and happy as the attended church across from the White House this morning. Daylife and Getty have lots of photos like This One
Yes, they do look happy: a fine example of American family values.
Comment on fashion. She appears to be wearing the dress part of her Congressional address outfit.
C-Span just showed a clip of it. She looks very nice,
C-Span is preparing to cover the gays rights march and rally. Right now they are broadcasting the president's speech from last night.
Church this morning. Closeup view with Malia. It's the pinkish box-pleated skirt and matching top from the speech to Congress outfit with a print sweater added.

Re: the first photo: POTUS and FLOTUS with Nancy Pelosi.
It strikes me that if I couldn't identify the people in the photo, I would have guessed that Pelosi was a concierge escorting two celebrities into an event. This tells me that either Ms. Pelosi is underdressed for the event or Mrs. O is overdressed.
Charlene in Detroit, can I say that you are such a wonderful, positive addition to this site. Thank you for all the great information on where to buy too. Much peace and blessings to you and yours. You rock.
That last photo is fantastic! I love the looks on the faces of the two people to the right of Mrs O, especially the lady in the pink top. That's hilarious....! I'd be exactly the same - worse, probably. I hate watching gymnastics, especially the beam, it makes me SO nervous I'd be all over the shop. Twittery whittery. Eek.
Anywho, the lady to the far left is wearing by far the nicest outfit in any of those photo's! Anyone know where that beautiful dress came from? (Oops, sorry, I mean, apart from the black sequinned number!)
Re the comment up the thread about underdressing-overdressing, the Obamas appeared on stage. Her short simple black sequined dress was good for that.
Though undoubtedly an honored guest, Ms. Pelosi was in the audience. In DC, women usually wear fairly conservative designs in good fabrics to this kind of event, but sequins are not usually in the mix. She is wearing a large, very sparkly pin. Knowing of her jewelry, it is probably the real thing! I'm surprised to see her in red. She usually wears very subdued colors. But the public doesn't see much of her in clothes for evening.
Thanks so much, Camille. I really appreciate that. I just posted some information on the latest thread regarding that Pieter Erasmus necklace Mrs. O wore earlier this year. I hope you find it helpful (if that's your style), if not, pass it on to someone who might like it. That's what true fashionistas do....we pay it forward!
Oh and MICHELLE - STOP SHOUTING.
Aha - found the name of the lady in the wheelchair we were wondering who she was. The White House Flickr photostream identified her: Paralympic athlete Linda Mastandrea
