A Peek Inside the Mrs. O Book

We're excited to share more of our new book, Mrs. O: The Face of Fashion Democracy. The book officially launches Wednesday, October 28, and is already available on Amazon, here.

Is it only going to be available online, or will one be able to purchase it in other bookstores?

Hi Mia Monte, It will be available in bookstores! I know it's in stock at Barnes & Noble, and will be carried by Borders too.

This is going to be a great little extra in Christmas presents for a few friends and my mother, aunt and grandmother. Great job, Mrs. T! I remember very early on when this website was still very much a labor of love for you, especially, and a few others. I'm glad that you've been able to find success through this little project that could, and maintain the same level of authenticity and tastefulness that Mrs. O symbolizes. You could have very well allowed this website to become a tacky commercial venture, but instead it's still the same quaint and sophisticated blog you started with.

Surely the 2016 Mrs. O fashion retrospective at the conclusion of the Obama administrationS will also be terrific. ;)

I like the promotional video, in particular the photos that were chosen. The photos represent some of Mrs Obama's best fashion moments. I do hope that the "gold" dress from the Olympic dinner will make it into the book!

She looked beautiful on Jay Leno. Wore that floral printed Thakoon dress she wore to one of the debates last year.

Beautiful book and a great video! It looks like you captured Mrs. O's spirit and playfulness perfectly well. The details of fabric and design are wonderful. Congratulations, Mrs. T. I can only imagine the incredible process you went through to develop the project. Really lovely. Kudos!

She is fierce. We love President Obama but couldnt imagine any other First Lady besides her. She is what the country needed. She is SUBSTANCE and STYLE with intelligence and confidence. She has done so much and been involved in so many issues. Ohhhhh... she looks great. :))))))

OK, I just plucked up the courage to watch the little video. And now it's even more desperate that I asked for this for Christmas. WAH!

But, Mrs T - can I just say THANK YOU for photographing things on either side of the binding, and not across the binding? Like the shoes I spotted? How many times do you get a fabulous two page spread of a photo in a book but you can't see it because the stitching wrecks it? Thank you thank you thank you!

This is going to be my Just Because gift from me, to me. I'm on the list @ my local Barnes and Noble store for 3 copies. I'm getting one for my sister Janice (another FLOTUS fan) and the other two for me. I plan on putting one out as a coffee table book next to my Kevyn Aucoins and the other will be kept for a keepsake. Why? Well, because that's just the kinda girly girl I am !!! Thanks Mrs. T !

I just got this book in the mail (pre-release copy) and I absolutely love it!! I'm 13 and don't really know a ton about politics or the Obama family, but I love this book! It's really inspired me to learn more about her.

Ooh love the comments!

@ Posh Tater, yes! Great care and attention was given to the placement of the "gutter". Not sure if that's the right term, but that's how I was referring to it. Particularly with people, but also with the clothes and accessories.

@ Charlene in Detroit How wonderful!! You must definitely read the interviews with Peter Soronen and Karen Erickson, both of whom are Detroit natives!

@ Ashley, your comment has made my night! I hope you enjoy the book!!

The Washington Post highlights the book:

(Congrats Mrs. T.)

And displayed a Mrs. O gallery:

Also...slightly off-topic... Essence magazine put together photos of the First Family throughout their first year. I can't remember the name of it, but I saw it at CVS over the weekend. Check the magazine rack at CVS. Some of the pics were lovely!
