Mrs. O Set for "Jay Leno" Appearance

It was late last October that Mrs. O, not yet first lady, was impressing us with her sartorial savvy on the Tonight Show, dressed in a full J.Crew ensemble.

When it was announced today that the first lady will appear on "The Jay Leno Show" this Friday, appearing via satellite from Washington to participate in Leno's 10 @ 10 segment, we couldn't help but feel a familiar excitment.

What will Leno ask? And crucially, what will Mrs. O wear? We would love to hear your predictions.

Mrs. O Takes Miami

Photo by Joe Raedle / Getty Images

First Lady Mrs. O is in Miami today, speaking at the Florida Campus Compact Awards Gala held at Miami-Dade College in Miami, FL. The event is held annually to honor students and teachers from across the state of Flordia for their commitment to public service - one of the first lady's primary issues of focus.

Per the Miami Herald, Mrs. O asked the crowd:

"How do we show these young people that service is more than what you do once in a while, or for a year or two after college?"

Well chosen for the southern climate and event, Mrs. O wore for a brightly printed floral dress, topped with J.Crew Merino flutter bow cardigan (...and as luck would have it, the cardigan's on sale).

P.S. Our apologies for neglecting to mention ... the first lady also spent her early afternoon at Eglin Airforce Base (sans cardigan), speaking with military families stationed there. Further reading here.

A Touch of Sparkle

Photo by Alexis C. Glenn-Pool/Getty Images

Last evening, First Lady Mrs. O attended the latest installment of the White House music series on the South Lawn of the White House. The 'Fiesta Latina' included Salsa and Spanish classical music. For the event, Mrs. O chose a black top, embellished with a repeating pattern of small gold squares. We are hoping more photos surface from this event.

Update: The White House has released photos from Tuesday evening's event. See the full slide show here.

A Picture of Health

First Lady Mrs. O spoke at the Department of Health and Human Services today, with a message about healthy living. Read more from the New York Times here

For the occasion, Mrs. O turned to a classic skirt and cardigan combination, wearing a black and blue purple print skirt paired with a black cardigan, the latter adorned with a jeweled brooch at the collar. To see a bit more detail on the skirt and pin, click here and here.

Update:  We have confirmed that Mrs.O is wearing Michael Kors violet and black silk ikat brush stroke print skirt. The first lady's black shell and cardigan are Michael Kors as well.

Wish List Part II

Since we featured Mrs. O's St. Erasmus necklace yesterday, we thought it would be worth mentioning another favorite Mrs. O piece that's now available. J.Crew has reintroduced the Crystal Constellation cardigan, renamed the Shimmering Constellation cardigan, similar to the cardigan worn by First Lady Mrs. O in London last spring. The refresh has a friendlier price tag at $128, in exchange for a few less sequins (but still enough for sufficient sparkle). Available in Black and Heather Dusk, we wonder if we might see Mrs. O in this cardigan again?

Also, last night marked the season finale of one of our favorite shows this fall: The Rachel Zoe Project. And just when we thought we couldn't be a bigger fan, Rachel Zoe professed her love for the first lady in an interview (thanks stylishgurl for the link). Speaking with NBC, RZ said: "I'd love to dress Michelle Obama ... because I'm obsessed with her." We love everything about this, so it makes our wish list too!

Another highlight of the season finale was an appearance by Mr. Derek Blasberg of V Magazine. Derek contributed to our upcoming Mrs. O book, conducting and editing several of the featured interviews with fashion greats such as Andre Leon Talley, Michael Kors and Thakoon Panichgul. His contribution to the book was wonderful, as was his cameo last night. Hooray!
