Easter Elegance

Official White House Photo by Pete Souza

The first family attended Easter church service today at Allen Chapel AME Church in Washington, DC. Mrs. O rewore an ivory and lime brocade dress by Peter Soronen for the occasion. It was the same dress that first inspired this blog in August 2008!

Also to note, this is the second Easter in a row that the first lady has worn a dress by Peter Soronen. Last year, it was a chic painted lace dress, seen here.

Garden Chic

Image by Evan Vucci / AP Photo

The first lady was back in the White House garden today for a spring planting, joined by students from Bancroft Elementary in Washington, DC and Hollin Meadows Elementary in Alexandria, VA, as well as Kathleen Sebelius, the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services.

Mrs. O dressed in a loose black top and sheer cardigan, paired with grey pants and Converse sneakers for her garden outing. Fun!

Update: Per WWD, "At first glance, some observers thought [Mrs. O] had a pair of bright pink gardening gloves tucked into her back waistband. In fact, her Clu-designed sweater featured a four-tiered Schiaparelli pink back ruffle inset." Thanks chrystelle!

Spring in Her Step

Image by Jason Reed / Reuters

After a much-deserved week off for Spring Break with her daughters, Mrs. O is back to her first lady duties today, speaking at the White House Council on Women and Girls' Forum on Workplace Flexibility. We missed you Mrs. O!

The first lady appeared at the event in a fresh spring ensemble, wearing a short-sleeve jacket and pencil skirt by Narciso Rodriguez, created from cream organza with a black ribbon jacquard weave and chiffon trim. The suit was paired with an orange camisole, beaded Moschino brooch and black kitten heels. Fresh and lovely!
