A Day in the Garden

First lady Mrs. O had a full day Friday, as she hosted a "Let's Move" initiative at the White House Kitchen Garden. The event began as Mrs. O spoke to a group of several hundred chefs as part of the 'Chefs Move! To Schools' initiative, calling on chefs to adopt a local school in an effort to educate kids about food and nutrition. Following her speech, Mrs. O rolled up her sleeves (and changed tops - from pixelated floral Thakoon to Lanvin) to get to work with local students harvesting vegetables from the White House garden. Hope everyone is staying cool!

Image via NY Mag The Cut

Sophie Theallet and Monique Pean, two rising design stars in Mrs. O's style repertoire, were honored as CFDA / Vogue Fashion Fund winners this year. And now, for a limited time, their creations are being offered in a special Gap collection at semi-reasonable price points. Of note, the featured styles have a strong resemblance to pieces worn by the first lady, seen here and here, which makes this a chance to get a Mrs. O look for less! Check out more photos of the actual pieces here.

Per The Cut:

Monique Péan created twelve pieces of jewelry for Gap, which include her dyed coconut bead and buffalo-horn necklace is $248, while her twine and buffalo-horn necklace is $198. Sophie Theallet's gathered top and ruffle-tier dresses are $248 each, while her tie-front dresses and skirts run $198 each and her tie-front top costs $148.

The collection is available exclusively at Gap's pop-up shop in NYC:

A Lovely Remix

The first lady joined U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid at the Red Rock National Conservation Area yesterday to help launch Mrs. O's Let's Move Outside! initiative to promote more outdoor activity for children.

For the event, Mrs. O paired a floral Etro cardigan with a J.Crew skirt and Sonia Rykiel belt (all first seen last spring/summer). Silver ballet flats completed the look and kept Mrs. O on the move!

Coral and Pearl

Long weekend hardly complete, the first lady was off again to Reno, Nevada today for an appearance at the 2010 Women's Summit, where she spoke to a crowd of 1600 businesswomen and dignitaries.

For the appearance, Mrs. O wore a coral cotton and silk crepe dress by Narciso Rodriguez, first seen when the Os travelled to Europe last summer, seen here. A double strand of pearls completed the summer look.
