Mrs. O's Week in NYC

The first lady has spent the past week exploring New York City with her daughters, who are on their Spring Break. So what have the ladies been up to?

Piecing together coverage from the Chicago Sun-Times, The Huffington Post and the New York Post, the itinerary has gone something like this:

Saturday: Blue Man group and a stop at Dylan's Candy Bar.

Sunday: Brunch at Mesa Grill, followed by the musical "Memphis.". A tour of the Empire State Building and a stop by Magnolia Bakery for cupcakes.

Monday: Lunch at the Russian Tea Room and a preview of the new musical, "The Addams Family."

Tuesday: A trip to Harlem, including stops at The Studio Museum, The Apollo Theater and a bite to eat at Dinosaur Bar-B-Que. Mrs. O and friends later dined at Aquavit.

Wednesday: A tour of the "Sesame Street" studio. A visit to the Brooklyn Bridge Park, the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory and a well-known pizzeria, Grimaldi's.

What a fun week! Hope the Os are enjoying their Big Apple getaway!

Update: Lynn Sweet reports that the Os "returned to Washington on Wednesday, stopping at the Statue of Liberty en route back to the White House."

On the Town in Jasmin Shokrian

Image by Seth Wenig / AP Photo

The first lady was in New York City this weekend, and out on the town to catch the Broadway play 'Memphis'. For her theatre outing, Mrs. O wore a skirt by Jasmin Shokrian, paired with a black top and cardigan, and olive green flats for a hint of Spring color. Very city chic!

The Jasmin Shokrian skirt is a piece we've seen Mrs. O wear once before. Last May, the first lady debuted the skirt for a service event in Washington, D.C., first covered (with a detailed image) here.

Spring Has Sprung

Image via Carole Tanenbaum Vintage Collection

Many of you will recall that a few months ago, the wonderful Carole Tanenbaum debuted a dazzling collection of Mrs. O-inspired, 60s-era vintage flower pins, collected with the readers of this blog specifically in mind (and affordably priced, just for us!).

The collection proved to be an overwhelming success, with Carole Tanenbaum's website subsequently inundated with our orders. With requests for additional pins coming in, Carole began compiling a second collection of Spring-inspired vintage flower pins, which I'm excited to announce will debut on Mrs-O.org on Monday, March 22! I'll have a new post up on Monday, with a link to the Carole Tanenbaum Vintage Collection website and instructions for ordering.

The photo above is a first sneak peek of what we can look forward to!
