Bold Print in Tanzania

President and First Lady Obama arrived at the State House in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania today, greeted by Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete and First Lady Salma Kikwete. For the appearance, Mrs. O wore a boldly printed dress, paired with a cropped melon cardigan, neutral heels and a clear crystal statement necklace.

Gorgeous! I am so proud she and the President represent our country.
I love this dress! At times like these, when our FLOTUS really makes fashion forward choices, I am especially happy that she is representing our country. And I am always so proud of our first family!
Beautiful! The fashions have been lovely during the trip and I will be happy when my First Family is back in Washington, D.C. tonight.
Love the color palette of this dress as well as the style. Chic and modern, Mrs. O is well put together on this trip.
The dress is bold and lively, but the half cardigan detracts from it. Being short-waisted, why does Mrs. Obama favor the little sweaters which only call attention to that? 1
Nice dress--from what can be seen of it. (Wondering if the top is "tank"- or "muscle"-sleeved.) The bold, vibrant pattern is refreshing. Yet, the cropped cardigan looks out of place to me. Too trendy or cutesy or something. ...I say if you're going to go "Afropolitan," go all the way! Would looove to see Mrs. O. in one of those beautiful batik-print head wraps...in full "African dress." Regal. Royal. (Hey, if Mrs. Clinton can do it...;-)
I think the outfit was perfect for the occaision.
Perfect fit and style for her and the colors are magnificent. The colors celebrate the culture of the people. Just lovely!
Lovely colours but I think I would prefer the look without the cardigan.
Tanzania is at least 30% Muslim and as such I think covering upper arms is appropriate, hence the cardi...good choice!
Lovely African inspired tie-dye dress. A reflection of the people and their creative, bright and colourful designs of the lush green landscapes, bright blue skies and natures beauty unto fabric. I bet many of the prints we see them wearing, has some history or story to tell.
