Off to Africa

The Obama family left Washington today for their week long trip to Senegal, South Africa, and Tanzania. For her travel attire, Mrs. O went back to a classic - a striped Narciso Rodriguez dress from Resort 2008, first seen at a Florida campaign rally in April 2008. A look at the dress then:

A little too bare and tight for my taste...
Some great pictures of the family in Senegal at http://theobamadiary.com/
It looks like the younger daughter, Sasha, is going to be as tall as her older sister! You don't usually see her walking with mom, but this photo shows that. As for FLOTUS, she is always on trend--even with a piece from 2008! The stripes, the navy, it's a very popular choice right now. I've always loved the look and can't believe that piece is over 5 years old.
The casual lower half is of a pleasant appearance (our First Lady can really nicely 'pull off' bold horizontals). The outfit strikes both a fashionable and casual summery (warm weather) appeal, but it seems as if the top is a sleeveless blouse, though perhaps the same blouse in each wearing, because it seems as if the waist is higher in the later photo. May be the photo that makes it appear as if she is wearing a skirt and blouse. A squared lower neckline would also be attractive.
Horizontal stripes...not a great look on anyone and doesn't do FLOTUS any favors.
Love the waist on this dress. I'm very curious about the Senegal dress too.
Simply lovely :0)
Beautiful!
Loving the travel wear. Is it possible for us to start getting info on Sasha and Malia's looks? They are as fashion forward as their mom. I bet a lot of young girls would like to copy those looks as well as me and my bootleg Mrs. O looks. LOL!
Kathie, Mrs Obama was wearing a Zero + Maria Cornejo dress when they landed in Senegal!!! Really gorg!!!

Her speech to the students at the school in Senegal was just terrific; very inspiring as usual!!! She did the intro in fluent french and her audience was thrilled!!! Senegal is a former french colony!!!
She wore a very pretty floral dress for the visit to the school. It's a dress I don't believe she's worn before, but it was perfect!!!

I watched as the First Couple boarded AF1; the President adoringly held Mrs. O by the waist as they walked up the steps together to board. Obviously President Obama is very satisfied with Mrs. O and her striped bottom dress. In my opinion, she is wearing it very well.
This looks better now than before and so does she! I think our Michelle has discovered the fountain of youth or something. It's nice seeing this dress again.
