As part of Black History Month, Mrs. O hosted a White House workshop to celebrate the film Beasts of the Southern Wild today. On the fashion front, Mrs. O's look was defined by her accessories. Wearing a basic black top and pants, the first lady accessorized with a layered mixed stone statement necklace and gold hoop earrings.

Update: Mrs. O wears woven gold earrings with gunmetal spikes and an 'Elements' druzy stone necklace, both by Alexis Bittar.

She is gorgeous. I just watched the video of the event and she looks spectacular! So fit, so effortlessly feminine and all while wearing a simple pair of black slacks with a black top and lightweight knit/lacy sweater.
She really looks so effortlessly good and yummy in her clothes. The multi strand stone necklace added an even more interesting dimension to the simple, clean look.
She gets it. She really does.

Amazing necklace, although doesn't it look as though it would be uncomfortably heavy? I had to look up "druzy," which is rock covered with fine crystals, "like a coating of glittering stardust" according to one source. Very appropriate for our radiant FLOTUS!

Starting her days with a hairstyle that brings out her beauty and glowing smile adds to her Outstanding “Confident Character” It seems to me that with this hairdo, she can quickly style herself and rush out to events at the last minute while looking as if she just left the beauty salon.

@C. Thanks for the picture of Mrs. O modelling at Princeton. She was brought up with emphasis on Self-assurance which is extremely important to own and as we can see how empowering this is.
