Weekend Getaway

The President and First Lady traveled to Chicago for the weekend to attend the wedding of Tony Balkissoon and Laura Jarrett (daughter of Valerie Jarrett, senior advisor to the President). From Chicago, the First Lady will head west to give a commencement address at Orgeon State University, before campaigning in Nevada and Colorado. (The President heads south to Los Cabos, Mexico for the G20 Summit.) For weekend travel, Mrs. O paired a black and white floral skirt with a black tank and signature Alaia belt. Lovely!
Update: Mrs. O wears a black and white toile de joie skirt by Boy. by Band of Outsiders (a new First Lady favorite?) available in a shorter version here.

I luv, luv, luv, my First Lady! Obama 2012!
Lovely! Mrs.T there is a fascinating but maybe a bit controversial article in the New York Times about Mrs. O's ancestry. Have you seen it? If so, what is your take on it?
Lovely outfit, but she'll need one of her cardigans when she gets out here in the Pacific Northwest ;)
I am happy the President and his family were able to attend the wedding in Chicago of a dear friend and advisor's daughter. I pray for my nephew, daily, who attends school in Chicago at this time and I believe that he is protected. When I ponder the various security details and pomp and circumstance around the world (Queen's 4-day Diamond Jubilee celebration, travels of the Pope, other prime ministers, presidents and dignataries), I am glad to see my President take a few hours (even if it involves added security detail) out of a 24/7 job for personal and family events involving his entire family and often still coordinated it sometimes appears with his business travel as well. Loved Michelle's dress at the wedding! Loved the President's suit (at the wedding)! Love the First Family!
Not a flattering look or maybe it's the camera angle but the fullness of this high waisted skirt does not need a thick belt. Especially when worn with a body hugging camisole top.
NYMag reports that the skirt is Boy by Band of Outsiders

Daily Mail UK had several very good pictures of what the family wore to the wedding: Mrs O looked lovely with a sleeveless silver spangled top above a finely pleated white knee-length skirt, medium black belt; Malia wearing a bright yellow short-sleeved princess-line (?); and Sasha in a very nice pale turquoise shot with silver, handkercheif hem frock. seen also from the front here: http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2012/06/17/article-2160499-13A58C64000005DC-374_634x448.jpg
Not her best look, but it's nice to see a woman look like a real woman. Perfect can be boring! The dress for the wedding looked great - as did the coordination with her husband's rare light suit.
I am very sad to see that Mrs. O. has been resurrecting her black belts. I completely agree with Gavlev. Though Mrs. O. is well-toned, she still has the middle-aged tummy that so many of us have, and nothing does more disservice to it than a belt. She is also quite short-waisted, which is another problem that belts only emphasize. Please, Mrs. O., lose the belts!
Just had a look at the wedding pictures - love the dresses, especially Mrs Obama's! President's suit looks very nice (and co-ordinated too!) for a summer wedding - just perfect. :)
Who is the dress designer Michelle Obama wore to the wedding?
