Must Read: Designing Woman

I enjoyed this Washington Post piece on designer Katie Ermilio and thought you might too. In 2008, the then 22-year-old submitted a sketch for Mrs. O's inaugural ball gown to a Washington Post reader contest. Robin Givhan, the former Washington Post fashion critic, declared Ermilio's design the winner. Since then, Ermilio has developed as a young designer, launching her eponymous line, Katie Ermilio, which has received early praise from Marie Claire and Lucky magazines. She is certainly one to watch in the fashion sphere, with an interesting tie to Mrs. O's style story no less. A contender for January 2013 perhaps? Enjoy and have a wonderful weekend!

I love the green dress Katie Ermilio did for the first (!) inaguration. In fact, I think MO would have been better off in this gem. I have a lot of admiration for Jason Wu, but the minute I saw that white dress at the first ball I thought, "Big mistake." Too bridal, and way too long.
Let's hear it for Katie in 2013!!
I just went through her website and her clothes are wonderful. Many are exactly MO's style. If I didn't fear jinxing everything, I'd suggest the fuschia gown for 2013's inagural.
I wish she had a broader representation here in the states. It's intesting that she is sold in Dubai and Russia.
Alas, no Portland, Oregon . . .
I just love the way you have capture the First Lady Style. The First Lady as made a lot of women feel comfortable about showing off their bare arms. Keep up the great job that you are doing with photos and articles.
