Kids' Choice 2012

The First Lady, joined by her daughters Malia and Sasha, appeared at the Kids' Choice Awards in Los Angeles, CA last night. Mrs. O was on hand to present Nickelodeon's Big Help Award to Taylor Swift in honor of her philanthropic endeavors. On the style front, the First Lady wore a sparkly houndstooth patterned tunic, paired with slim metallic pants. Signature kitten heels in black patent leather completed the look.

Update #1: Mrs. O wears Wes Gordon above, adding a new young American designer to her style repertoire!

Update #2: Per US Weekly, Mrs. O wears Helmut Lang foil wash jeans. Both Obama girls wear ASOS.

Very immature and needs a (better) bra. Mrs. Obama's style will not stand the test of time.

Really enjoyed this report - and of course seeing Michelle Obama, and her lovely young daughters enjoying the occasion together is excellent - family time outings are so important. Best wishes for the Easter Weekend, and blessing to the Obamas.

this is such a perfect, yet unexpected choice for this event. She looks chic, hip and fun. The pattern and fit are beautiful....the jacket/tunic is gorgeous and she totally pulls off the whole look. Her daughters always look so happy to be with her and so proud. She makes it a point to always make beautiful memories for her children.

The First Lady looks great! I would've chosen a different shoe though. Maybe even a black patent leather flat (tori Burch?).

I love Sasha's unusual jacket. Mrs. Obama looks like she wanted to dress for fun. She definitely pulled it off. Also, has Malia gotten rid of the braces?

I personally think black pants would have looked better, but the overall look is just fantastic! But this First Lady can wear anything! She always dresses just right for the occasion, and this is no different. She is a celebrity in her own right- she is one of the most exceptional First Ladies this country has ever had- and with our votes and God's help, she will be the First Lady in the years to come!

I have waited several days to post on this look, wondering if anyone else would see what I did. I like the tunic a lot. The jeans - not so much. My major complaint with this look is that I think I see a Spanx line because the jeans are so form fitting. A misstep, in my opinion. Hardly earth shaking, but not her best moment.

@ OpFan, I doubt that is a spanx line. If you look at more pics here:

You will see that her pants has a two toned color thing going on. I think it just may be the coloring in that spot.

Love it. Although unexpectedly super-form-fitting and glitzy, it still works, right at the edge of elegance, but without going over that edge. A real woman with a life and mind of her own, with an amazing team to help her pull these looks together on a daily basis.
