State Dinner Preview

The First Lady hosted a state dinner preview this afternoon, wearing a sleeveless pale blue Zac Posen dress with a blue belt at the waist. A bejeweled Saloni bird brooch completed the look. As we've come to expect from Mrs. O, the pin represents a clever nod to the state dinner. Saloni is a jewelry brand created by London based, Indian fashion designer Saloni Lodha.
The press preview was open not only to press, but also local students and 12 young women from the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School in the United Kingdom. The First Lady has developed a special connection with the school since her first visit in 2009, seen here.

It is getting better by the moment. I love the broach but her most beautiful accessory is her magnificent skin.
She looks gorgeous. And how wonderful is it that some of the students from the school in the UK are here as well! I love the real connections that Mrs. O makes with people.

I love this dress and it makes her arms look FABULOUS!!! I cannot wait until tonight!!!
Just saw the dress Mrs. O is wearing for the dinner. I think it's the black Ralph Lauren she wore for the dinner she and POTUS hosted for the Queen during last year's state visit to the UK.
I don't like this State Dinner's dress. The dress she wore for the first one is still my favorite. Ikram please come back.
Mrs O wore a Marchesa for the state dinner. It is nice, but I was not impress. The dress left me flat this time. Naeem Khan is still the best for me.
FLOTUS's state dinner dress and necklace is GORGEOUS!!!!!! Someone hinted that it might be Marchesa in the arrivals ceremony because Georgina Chapman kept saying she was shocked that FLOTUS picked her design and she was humbled and grateful. So let's hope it is indeed Marchesa because that would be wow! Here's a look.

State Dinner dress is lovely - Mrs. Obama certainly knows how to wear jewelry! I think the afternoon dress is too bare for during the day. A bolero jacket or shrug would have been perfect.
Hello!
Look at the color of the sleeveless dress. If I'm not mistaken, that dress is what was under the jacket of the Zac Posen suit worn for the official welcome. I am loving everything worn during this visit!
I'm thinking the preview dress is the arrival dress without the jacket. I do love the accents.
I believe you are correct Anagrom. I think this is lovely.
Mrs. C if it was as hot in DC as it was in my city, then she definitely was dress appropriately. It was HOT, LOL!
Dr. Cheryl, you're right! The color looked white on my screen, but I checked that it is indeed a pale blue, which makes sense. Thank you!
I love this color combination almost as much as I love black and white together. The brooch is indeed beautiful. Mrs. O.'s hair and makeup look wonderful! Has Mrs. O. worn Zac Posen before?
what a knock out!
Zac Posen works on FLOTUS!
This is a beautiful color (she's loving blue lately) and fit on our Michelle. You just cannot beat that 1000 watt smile of hers!
Pretty!
This is quintessential Michelle Obama. I love it! Love the pin! :)
All I can say is "Wow!"
Great hair style and like the way the blue of the brooch complements the dress's band.
Lovely!
This Lady can multitask her clothes. Under that magnificent jacket was this stunning dress and brooch. Amazing!
She is just so darn pretty!
Peace.
That is awesome. So vibrant! Love the brooch - you see what I mean about thoughtful and intelligent choices with clothes, something that Cameron's wife just can't do. Mrs Obama looks so gorgeous here! Wowzers.
It is the great moment. I love the broach but her most beautiful accessory is her magnificent skin. She is looking good in this picture.
